Is it only in my country, that the world gambler has a bad reputational context, or it applies to your country also? I mean when people are discussing someone other, if one of them say that other person is a gambler or likes to gamble, it automatically means that this person is unreliable, bad and etc. Gambling associates with negative. I remember when I was discussing with my colleagues, that our other colleague is getting married, and when someone mentioned that her future husband likes to play slots, other colleague (woman in age) rolled her eyes out showing that she would not be happy in marriage with such a husband.
I think maybe this applies also to other countries and my country is also like that because gamblers are always considered bad and it is certain that when they say gambling, a bad stigma always afflicts that person because even though gambling is rampant everywhere but in some countries it is still like this is still taboo and is done secretly, including what I am doing now because the stigma will change when we openly mention that we are gamblers.
But indeed for countries that are open to gambling even though this is still bad, they are more open to gamblers like them.
The stigma and discrimination among gamblers will not really die as long as there are people who are close-minded.
The negative attributes always come to mind every time people are known to be gamblers. Irresponsible, undisciplined, lazy, happy-go-lucky, and being an addict are the things people associate the moment they knew someone is gambling. This is the reason why most of the gamblers prefer to stay lowkey to avoid unnecessary public attention that could damage their reputation and destroy their peace of mind.
If you know it to yourself that you are none of those things they mentioned, keep minding your business. But if you happen to have the characteristic that they keep on saying, you might want to humble yourself down and have self-assessment to reflect. Because it's possible that they are calling you out to be a better version of yourself. Sometimes, we unconsciously lose track of our priorities and that keeps us from accomplishing what's necessary in the first place such as fulfilling our obligations and our goals due to gambling.
