I was just have this thoughts, as we have been saying, to be not addicted to gambling, we should have self-control. But as much as we know this advise or saying, there are still a lot of people falling for gambling and I just thought that it could be their personality. I mean if they have the correct decision making, then no one will fall for being addicted. And then there is also the case of high risk takers vs those people who doesn't like high risk and just play for the normal.

Also the reflection of losers, there are those who readily accept the fate when we lost even big money and then think of just taking a break first or just go walk out and then sleep it over. And then we have individuals who can't accept losing, and so they deposited for more and experience the same defeat.

Competitive spirit as well, I remember on sports personalities in Michael Jordan, yes the GOAT himself. But even outside of basketball, he will always play and bet in golf as been reported before.

How about you? Do you think you as a gambling also reflects your personality outside of gambling itself?

I think it depends on the character of the people, some people are simply unable to stop because they cannot accept defeat. The reason is that they do not know how to lose, are not ready to admit that they are not able to beat the casino and are ready to continue, perhaps thereby only increasing the overall loss, which could have been avoided if they could stop earlier.

There are those who manage to win back, or at least part of it, then they have hope that this time everything will be different and they will be able to win, because they have become more experienced players. This is all part of the game, and if the player continues to do this, then he simply likes it, someone competes with the casino, and someone with himself.

It could be true, because those who do not like risks will only gamble normally, meaning they will play when they have money and whatever the result, they can stop, but those who like risks will find it quite difficult to stop and will always want to increase the amount of bets to get more even though they are using money that exceeds their limit.

I would say that we reflect our lives in gambling. Even if we are modest in life, or rather pretend to be, but in our souls something completely different is going on, but we keep ourselves under control. Then when we come to gambling, nothing holds us back and we show our true face. That is why modest people can make wild bets. It seems to me that when I was withdrawn, then in gambling I found something that I could do whatever I wanted, I don’t know if this affected my future life, but now I have become very open in life, but I place bets on the contrary modestly and do not allow myself any antics and I am very happy about it. In short, everything turns out the other way around for me, lol.

Yes, most likely it would be the case for some of us here. Nevertheless, we really don't need to complicate things as we all know that life itself is like a gambling to most of us. I mean there could be people who get lucky, got a decent job got a good paying job. Or there are people who gamble life being a entreprenuer?

How many times that we heard about it? Like Bill Gates or Steve Jobs early on when they don't have money or at least started borrowing money on friends and gamble on their project that become successful? So that's it, life is really gambling and it could reflect our personality, on how resilient we are and how we are going to bet on something that will chance our lives for the better.

Our action is a reflection of who we are. If you are the risk taker as a person then you would naturally see yourself going the extra mine in your gambling journey too and a fearful person always get scared to risk even in the face of winning games.

They say a fearful person does not get rich and truly, most people who have won big in gambling are those who are not fearful, those who take risk. So it is about who we are, those that are more reserve do their gambling in a reserve manner and they believe it is gradual for them to get to their big win but an aggressive personality believes he needs to be fast about it and takes heavier risk.

We are the ones to control ourselves on everything we do and not allowing our activities to control or take over our mindset. Gambling personality is on gambling and personality outside gambling is also a different thing because if I am gambling for fun and do it once in a while, I don't see how that will affect my personality when I am not gambling. What I know is that, it is your personality outside gambling in real life that can affect your gambling personality.

There have been arguments within the psychiatric and psychological field about the existence of addictive personality. There is a claim that people with this personality are too weak to resist any form of addiction they are exposed to. I don't know if this is accurate but I have come across people who are easily hooked up to some activities. They tend to always go to the extreme when they are introduced to an activity.

I have long believed that certain types of personalities tend to one type of addictions more than others, as in drugs, people who normally tend to be bored tend to end up more hooked on stimulants such as caffeine or cocaine, while people who are nervous tend to the opposite, looking for more soothing drugs. But gambling, I would say, can affect any personality type.

But I think we can always control ourselves regardless of our personality. Claiming that your personality is the reason why you cannot control ourselves shouldn't be an excuse to chase losses and gamble more than you can afford to lose. There should always be a limit to everything we engage in because there is no excuse for failure.

I disagree in the reason that not just because I got hooked on gambling, it means I’m foolish. Let’s be real—sometimes we make bad decisions or form poor opinions. It happens. But there’s a saying: people change after learning from their mistakes. Unless, of course, someone chooses to let their life out of control without any regrets—that’s a different story.

I actually have a friend who’s addicted to gambling, yet he’s still doing well and has no financial problems. Meaning, despite his addiction, he is able to manage to keep his mindset firm. I know this is a rare situation because, for most people, gambling addiction does a serious impact on their finances.

Why the mention of golf? Haha is it because of how ‘calm’ and ‘relaxed’ golf seems to be compared to basketball that is full of adrenaline and intensity? But I know a lot of intense athletes go play golf as well. We can’t be intense all the time. We can’t be on full throttle we also need to go on breaks and calm down. We need balance in our life.

Definitely. How one person manages to control their gambling habits is a reflection of who they are outside of gambling. If someone is greedy or selfish, this would bleed into gambling and he might lose. If someone is more collected and not easily swayed by emotions, he might be able to bring home some winnings.

Our characters is who we truly are and it manifests in the personality that we portray outside, so it's true that our gambling habits are reflections of our personalities. Somebody who is disciplined will naturally have self control when they're gambling, they'll be responsible gamblers and will hardly become addicted to gambling. On the other hand if a gambler is not a disciplined person naturally, it'll be easier for the person to become addicted because they lack sell control. We should know that people can make a decision to change their personalities, it just requires discipline to change into what you want, so a gambler can choose to become disciplined and gamble responsibly, he just needs to work on it.

Yes, I think so. It's not like we are making bad and good decisions just because we bumped into gambling, we have been doing that in our life for a long time which is why I think gambling can reflect the true nature of a person.

Easily irritated. That's me. When I lose just $10 in slots, I can easily get irritated and whisper words like "unfair" "robbery" or curse the game because of its hunger for my money as it eats away everything I have.
Well, that's me even when I was young, I could get annoyed with simple things and I can say it comes out when I gamble even though I managed to control that emotion for a long time, or ever since I got kids.

It reflects what you have—knowing that it's how you react when losing and your risk appetite. A reserved person or someone with a reason wouldn't risk a lot of money, and a methodical gambler might gamble less impulsively. It still depends, but it could be an indicator.

I believe that every person enters gambling differently, but in this case, some people gamble to make money and some people gamble for fun. Those who enter gambling mainly to make money are the ones who lose and start gambling again and again after losing money. And later, after losing, they surrender at the last moment empty-handed, but this basically indicates a sign of addiction that hits the gambler very seriously in the end.
So those who only gamble for fun are the ones who wait for big wins in the end, those who mainly lose more are the ones who mainly make more efforts to recover money. So those of us who are still involved in gambling should definitely follow this kind of thinking and gamble so that we can refrain from addiction.

As an undergraduate I was taught that there are different personality traits. And these personality traits influence our behavior both covert and overture behavior. Gambling activities is all about behavior and in one aspect that personality traits in fluency are gambling behavior is in our gambling strategy. a person who is highly extraverted and high on openness to experience who would most take more risks in gambling. They will go outside the normal - betting with more they know they cannot afford to lose just to see if luck is on their side. This is one example of many.

I don't really pay attention to the influence of my personality on my gambling activities. It may be true that gamblers who have a patient and careful personality in their lives will influence the gambler in making decisions in their bets. Because the nature of the gambler's personality itself is brought to his gambling. But can gambling activities also affect or change the gambler's personality? It may be possible and felt by novice gamblers from the changes that occur, but not too significant. Except for the bad impact of gambling addiction.

maybe by personality it might be the way the individual look at gambling and the reason why he gambles. i feel what plays the greater role in gambling addiction is the main reason why the gambler gambles and not entirely his personality. if you are gambling for the right reason of having fun, you would never make use of an amount you cant afford to lose and will also not gamble too often to the point where you end up becoming wrecked due to your gambling lifestyle.

the point where your personality can also become an issue is when you are someone that is not a meticulous spender and then uses that kind of lifestyle in gambling, its going to be that the likelihood of getting addicted will happen too fast because you already have a financial problem you are facing even before you started gambling.

As much as I do not want to believed it, but looking at my gambling habits before, I think this could have some value as far as discussion goes. Because there could be gamblers that are not convinced, but on the other hand it could be true as well.

Just like when we don't want to gamble anymore, we could be just our personality is saying that we are not that risk taker. As there could be gamblers who are going all-in and YOLO and that's what they are also in real life. It might have a bad results for them as their decision is wrong, but that's how they are build, I guess.

Of course, the attitude towards gambling, as well as the manner of playing, is a reflection of the characteristic features of a person's personality. I will not say that these aspects are completely individual, rather there are some types, for example, gambling, calm, etc. At the same time, I believe that such a pernicious disease as gambling addiction is determined precisely by the personality of the player, that is, the predisposition to gambling addiction is inherent at the level of genetics. Such people should either not play at all, or they should be taken care of by someone when gambling...

I always thought that gamblers were those people who at some point began to experience satisfaction from victories, which gave them a dose of dopamine, the pleasure hormone. Such feelings can happen to such people anywhere with a competitive spirit, and the place where some activity allows them to become a leader, a winner for some time, will become a favorite. In this case, a casino. The amount of loss is not necessary here; regular participation is important, and the desire to repeat the emotions. If you distract such people from gambling and interest them in something else, where they can self-actualize, then they will probably be able to enjoy it there too.

However, for people who expect to get rich by gambling, I cannot call them a person with the character of a winner. Any normal person should understand that this can happen to individuals, and it is always better to control your emotions and achieve success through your efforts, without hoping for a miracle.
