Gaming addiction is to be listed as a mental health condition for the first time by the World Health Organisation. Its 11th International Classification of Diseases will include the condition gaming disorder. It is a pattern of gaming impaired control over gaming, increasing priority given to gaming over other activities to the extent lead to gaming disorder.
It is actually a very serious problem because there are many instances where people just deny their body of food, water and even sleep just to continue playing games and there is a lot of consequences on the human body as a result of that.

When these organizations start complaining about something, the next step is to forbid it...

I agree gaming nowadays is much different from years ago. It used to be a fun activity, with many normal people involved talking to each other, sharing knowledge and experiences, very polite and agradable people. Now seems the biggest part of games' community is composed by problematic, frustrated minds, people that speak only bullshit and create conflicts with each other for nothing.

And some of these gamers are worshiped on their Youtube channels by other problematic children.
I believe it's just a reflex of familiar issues, and they find a refuge on the virtual games world where they are important, respected and feared. Anyway, it's not a positive environment like it was many years ago.

However, it's not a disorder for everyone and it should be very clear before the first specialist comes endorsing any kind of restriction to game's industry.

The World Health Organization(WHO) is about to recognize gaming addiction;asa mental health condition it is called "Gaming Disorder". The WHO defines gaming disorder as a recurring or persistent behavior pattern that is severe enough to affect crucial and important aspects of life. Examples would include gaming taking priority over eating , sleeping or other primary and necessary functions..

For me it's true, the excessive playing of various online games affect to the children's important activities. But your child will not be affected by gaming disorder if you discipline them. Give the time when they can use gadgets and play games.
Well thats true, but we(parents) should learn to discipline our children about gadgets. It is better that your chidren get involve in sports or you can buy them an animal like dog/puppy or cat to teach how to be responsible.

Well gaming addiction is common though and yes it is a disorder or a disease , by the excessive gaming it can positively cause an negative effects mostly on the behavior itself, and to be honest this is my title of my research that it could positively affect.

Of course, online games are very influential for the development of child psychology, because the game has an addictive effect for those who play it, aside of that can make a child  less socializing with their friends or with others. Needed supervision and control  to  child when they play an online game and I agree with you that we should discipline them with the use of time to play the game.

Playing games supposedly a kind of entertainment. I have been playing games for years just for fun, relaxation and entertainment but didn't really got addicted until I forgot to sleep, eat etc. Things had changed tremendously since gaming has become so huge in the business world. Its a billion and billion dollar industry for the games developers. Also a money making or even a career for the players. So its not surprising that many have got addicted.

Nevertheless I think somewhere, someone have to start some kind of awareness campaign so I totally agree this move to control things getting out of hand.

Well our bodies require us to have physical activities and it's not meant to stay stagnant for hours on end in front of a computer. Kids today who are addicted to gaming are in a serious risk of having health related issues. Though i think that's something that can be worked in only if the people in the household would help each other.

I don't believe there can't be a better term for that, "gaming disorder" is a negative term for video-games, that in fact have nothing to do with the player problem. It can't make you dependent like drugs and alcohol, the reasons people get addicted on video-games are outside of room, really, most of the time it's the only activity that creates high number of dopamine in a child's brain, and if he doenst have life prospectives and is depressed, gaming becomes his refuge. But gaming itself is not the problem, unlike drugs, you can actually play video-games your whole life and don't get addicted.
I believe there should be a better term that does not address gaming as the problem, but one of the symptons, because now this specific term is gonna rise prejudice of some outsiders towards gamers and the gaming community.

To be honest I do skips some meals and sleep because of games and I manage to fix it up.
I just tried to live without games just focus on something else and control myself when I get tempted to play some online games .
Now I could control my time with online games I could manage my time well and don't really spend more than 2-3 hours in online games.

This is one of disadvantages of computer and other gadgets in our generation. Addiction is really a serious problem to the young. Instead of studying they will put their time to have some fun in gaming. Calling all the friends and game for almost one day time consuming. They can only notice if they train was gone.

I admit it, gaming can be pretty addictive sometimes, especially when you are young. Parents should watch their kids so they would have interests other than gaming.

I think this is a natural extension of the concept of an addiction disorder more generally. Neurobiologically, there is little difference between the various mechanisms that release reward- or salience-related neurotransmitters such as dopamine: gambling, gaming, drugs, social networks, phone messaging, shopping, eating &c. have all been shown to stimulate the same mechanisms in the brain. These were originally meant for us to orient towards- and learn behavior appropriate to reach important outcomes, such as social status, enough food, and so on. However, the brain has not kept up in its evolution, so almost anything, and certainly gaming, can stimulate these same pathways.

Tehnology has gone far.It has progressed so much that people no longer have to leave their homes.Everything has become virtual. It happens that children spend twenty-four hours on their computers. It's very bad for their health, parents have to influence them. There are such good games, that children don't even come out of the house at all. It's very worrying.People need to deal with this issue.

Yes, this can be a disorder. A freetime is already a desease when we cant use it in more meaning ways, life is short perhaps for some people, so its better to spend it in more useful ways. The big question is "do we have a long or a short one?"

Video game playing, either online or offline, must be "normally evident over a period of at least 12 months" for this diagnosis to be made, according to the beta draft guidance. However, if symptoms are severe and all requirements are met, health care professionals may include people who have been playing for shorter periods of time, the draft reads.Gregory Hartl, a spokesman for the WHO, said the new ICD-11 entry on gaming disorder "includes only a clinical description and not prevention and treatment options." And Chris Ferguson, a professor of psychology at Stetson University in Florida whose research interests include video games and other media violence effects, described the ICD as "the book of real diseases that you can get insurance payments for.""People who have treatment centers for video game addiction or a gaming disorder will now be able to get reimbursed," said Ferguson. "In the past, they have not. It will be a financial boon for those centers."The WHO's ICD lists both mental and physical disorders. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, or DSM-5 is the most recent manual produced by the American Psychiatric Association, and includes only mental disorders.

They are crazy! Some people play video games because they have social anxiety, that doesn't mean the suffer from a gaming disorder, but from social anxiety.

As a gamer too , this is actually true the meaning of excessive playing is 2hours or more than two hours though , and can affect negatively both health and on the studies though , and mostly the behavior . One of the things that I learn is to have a time management have a self discipline.
