Since he is avoiding it like the plague, does that mean he is avoiding it unsuccessfully and that all of his attempts is just a try to get more coins for cheap before the next run-up? Maybe, he’s speaking in code and telling all of his drug overlord friends of the next step.

I know he’s like every other mouthy business spokesperson (i.e. stupid, ill-informed, and incapable of critical thought), but heck it’s fun to make up hidden meaning out of nothing.

I know we're supposed to get insulted by these kind of labels but honestly, like being called a terrorist by these people, it really is becoming a badge of honour to have people like that view us with such disdain, Bitcoin is mathematics and you can't just simply dismiss it or ban it, lets enjoy the hate from bankers and American regulators Cheesy

Just another person making his mind up based on sheer ignorance. They'll come around eventually.

Gartman, forever the Bear.

He states the only reason why he has any interest is because his friend Brad Rotter is interested, then trashes Bitcoin as "a harbor of thieves and drug dealers".  Rotter is a hedge fund investor and very interested in the physical and tech security space.  Why would people follow Gartman's lead when he turns a deaf ear to what his good friend, a security specialist, is recommending? I look askance at someone who lacks flexible thinking.

It does, however, point to a lingering perception in the public that Bitcoin is not legitimate.  I think that will evaporate after the next up-cycle  (I think we're getting close to a run, btw) but there needs to be a concerted PR and educational effort to clean up the reputation of Bitcoin.  That can only help long term viability.

Well I'm glad he had the balls to change his mind at least.

CNBC is controlled by the CIA / banksters, its not a very reliable news source if you want more factual news.

I believe Gartman did not take time to understand and read about bitcoin. He obviously got his impression from the mass media stories on gox and silkroad.

You can't snort coke with a rolled up bitcoin.

Unless it was a paper wallet. Then you could.

It's the harbor of thieves and drug dealers and I will leave it to others, says Dennis Gartman, "The Gartman Letter," sharing his thoughts on the digital currencies and providing his play on coal and aluminum.
