This is not new in trading industry since most popular exchange site are now requiring kyc like what happen to gate.io maybe the team of the site have their own reason why there required this kyc system, personally we cannot assure if our personal identity is safe.

All exchange is needed, because it is used to get to know customers and intermediaries, such as identity, source of income, address of residence, place of business and office of the customer. This is to avoid money laundering transactions. And all exchanges don't want to take the risk of investor fraud money.
It all these things required if you have a big amount invested with their site but for the simple trader, it only need to submit ID's for verification.
There are some reasons why they are asking for this, not only for their own but for the safety of everyone who is taking part in it.
If only be the way to solve from fraud and some form of scamming, then why not to support with this.

why using tor is a way to bypass kyc? Isn't kyc required in some countries? I want to deposit funds to this exchange but I am afraid I cannot withdraw without KYC, it says to me I have 100BTC/day
When you are already dealing with high volume amounts of BTC/Day transaction then most exchangers as of this moment would really ask for KYC verification even Binance.

I don't see it as a negative improvement because everything needs to be transparent so this type of development will always needed to be giving the opportunity of watching clearly what is going on here that's why the KYC is important to give by anyone.
In the long run, all exchanges will require KYC, so we have to be ready with that.
Our only chance if we don't want to comply with this requirement is through decentralized exchange, but we can't get away with non compliance
as all of us needs to trade our bitcoin into fiat to make it useful in real life.

Contrary to the popular opinion of other people I think that instead of use getting frustrated with KYCs being implemented by the use of their services I do think that we should be happy about it. Knowing that they are complying with the law and is not violating it gives me a peace of mind that they should be trusted with our money. Your problem right now shouldn't even be a problem as you could easily get other government ids in your country, thwy might have required those ids as its the only thing accepted by their country right now.

Most of the exchanges are now KYC compliant and i see nothing wrong with that as long we have nothing to hide that we are not involved in illegal activity in which our identity will become questionable. Maybe your exchange misinformed you in advance regarding KYC but there is nothing you can do but to comply or shift to other exchanges.

I used gate.io and they process the KYC verification just a few hours, i just used National ID. We should be surpass 2 step verification , that is KYC1 and KYC 2 but they handle it by fast. Gate.io is one if the good crypto exchange although this exchange does not provide unverified account for withdrawal buy they listed many potential coin, and they add some new feature like Price condition order.
Well, it is a normal thing a lot of people should be expecting in the long run. Sure, there is no form of verification now in some exchanges like binance in which you can make 2BTC transaction in a day, but that does not mean there won't be in the long run as we have basically all seen bittrex as a very good example.

I personally do not have a problem with KYC anyway, what is very important is to be sure of the legitimacy of the exchange you are making use of and as long as you know you are fine with it, you will just have to abide by their rules, and with the way regulation is beginning to take course these days, I won't be surprised to see most exchanges doing the same in the long run.

Gate.io does not offering unverified account for withdrawal same like Huobi,  it's different with Binance  and Okex.  But the process of verification just take a while.  I think we should be ask about withdrawal process on the exchanges  before make any deposit.

As of now choosing a good exchange is a must, those having a reputable and you are safe when submitting your KYC as personal information.
Can we really be sure that people's personal information is safe with the exchanges we verify ourselves at? I'm not convinced of that at all, especially with how we don't know where and how they exactly store our information.

We also don't know if they share our information with the authorities. I strongly believe that people might be hearing from their tax department at some point in the future with how they believe crypto is either tax free or anonymous.

Even if crypto was actually anonymous, your trading activity on centralized exchanges isn't, and based on that they can and will hold you responsible for not declaring gains and holdings.

Let us accept that time to time probably all exchanges are implementing KYC, I have an account in gate.io too. Yes, it is required KYC before you can withdraw your fund but we don't have anything to do just to obey their rules. That's is a part of crypto now companies or exchanges are implementing on that. As of now choosing a good exchange is a must, those having a reputable and you are safe when submitting your KYC as personal information.

I don't like exchanges that allow us to make deposit but ask for kyc when we want to withdraw our money. They should have asked kyc at the beginning, when we created an account. And there seem to be several exchanges that carry out this practice.

Most of the cryptocurrency exchanges require KYC/AML/CFT regulations, so we do as a BitBay Exchange Smiley

Gate.io does not offer unverified account for withdrawal, i also use this exchange and for the verification of ID is was take just  a few hours. Not all Asian exchange offer unverified account for withdrawal. Other Asian exchange that does not offer unverified account for withdrawal is Huobi. But there are many others Asian exchange provide unverified account for Withdrawal with limited daily amount, like Binance, Okex, Bibox.

I also ran into this. When I refilled the balance and started to withdraw my coins, I was asked to pass KYC. It took me 2 days.
Wow guys I think I will also have to go through all this KYC there than because I have few bucks there and I haven't checked about their KYC policy for withdrawal before I deposit.

How was the process? We even can't withdraw a cent before passing this lengthy verification there? Angry Roll Eyes

Maybe you didn't esquire earlier because KYC is a must for you to make withdrawal on Gate.io. It is just a simple process and within a day or two, your account make withdrawal if you pass the Kyc.
