I dont think they are scam. Like others said, you are depositing a different blockchain with some modifications on their exchange. Its not a normal erc20 tokens that can easily send and received. No problem at all on your part for confirming the required needs they are asking you. Its just prove that they are checking well if its you the one whom really deposited.

Ive only used gate once for trading some token but not havent made any trouble or hassle. So I think it could be fixed OP just wait for the reply and your xlm since you did all what they asked.

Honestly, it's hard to believe Gate.io is a scam, I've been using it recently and everything is going well. It is even a good place for many projects to raise their funds there.

Why doesn't the OP reply to any other people's posts here? Can you clarify your allegations? All I see are pictures, it may not be accurate, if possible, I think txthash is needed to check for these transactions  Wink Will you provide?

Stay away from GATE.IO
You really became scammed by them?If so, why you are away to create a scam accusation against the exchanges instead of participating on another post. And according to the screenshot I noticed the are eager to credit the fund manually. So, it cant be a scam exchange according to the post of OP.

When you make transactions from or to exchanges, you have to read their rules and requirements carefully. Memo, tags, etc. are one of mandatory or optional requirements.

When you move your crypto from one exchange to another exchange, you have to read rules and requirements of both.

You read requirements of Binance but you did not read requirements of Gate.io. It is not a fault of Gate.io. It is yours.

Gate.io is an old and trusted exchange, not a scam one.
This may be the user's fault because when making a withdrawal it does not enter a memo even though it is an important requirement that must be filled in otherwise there will be an error like this and I say Gate.io is not a Scam exchange I have tried several transactions there, no encountered problems when following the existing requirements.
But I make sure this is not a scam but I want to know how the reply from gate.io support whether this is really the user's fault or not.

Such cases are handled individually, as the error is mostly on the part of the user and not the platform.
Many reputable platforms refunded coins to the source it was sent from and take some fees for refunded deal after verify user identity.
I do not know what is the case with using Gate.io but have other transactions arrived? The 40 XLM with Memo parameter that you sent? If it is, then we cannot call this case a scam.

Generally, in some cases they ask for identity verification, but try to repeat the request from another employee, as it may be less stringent.

You shouldn't really blame Gate.io.
I just visited Gate.io exchange to see how stellar deposits works.
Below is my stellar deposit page on their website and they are clearly saying that you are required to enter the memo.

And note that, the screenshots and information they asked you to provide are really needed. It must be 100% proved that you are the one who deposited to their exchange.
I have heard of some exchanges that are not helpful in such cases at all. At least, gate.io support is helping you to solve the problem.

Disclaimer:
This post doesn't mean I am saying Gate.io is a trusted exchange. I haven't ever used their exchange and I don't know if they are trusted or not.

There was an old problem on Gate.io too, but the problem wasn't same with you, it was only happened on Gate.io as well https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/gateio-rbtc-withdrawal-issues-case-solved-5332983
But that problem has been solved.

I think you can only follow what they want before they manually process it to your account. No one knows how long it will be take, but it's the only 1 way to get your money back.

Take note of "manually credit" cause anything that is done manually in centralized exchanges usually have long delays, probably due to the lack of manpower especially during surge times like this so I say this is more of a competency problem, at least for now...

and in case you're wondering, the questions were asked to make sure the XLMs were truly from you, so nothing wrong with them.

Just a suggestion, maybe creating more support tickets only furthers down your case, so try to stop it for now and only regularly escalate your case (support ticket) thru their live chat and social network sites.

Stay away from GATE.IO it's a pure scam!....

Hi guys,

Help me look into the following Scenario

Well, I made Stellar XLM Transfer from Binance to Gate.io without the memo

It's optional to provide an XML wallet Memo when withdrawing on Binance.

Because of that, I didn't get my Stellar XLM from Binance to Gate.io's wallet.

I sent an email to the Gate.io Support team yet no response to date.

Then, I went to create a support ticket via the Gate.io site, I created 11 support tickets yet still no solution.

First, I was asked to deposit another XLM from Binance to the same XLM wallet with a Memo (any amount) and also, provide a screenshot for both transactions from Binance.

Done!

After I did all that, The Gate.io support keeps asking more questions such as:

Done!

I've done all that Gate.io Support has asked yet still got no XLM. Now, I'm confused did I get SCAMMED by Gate.io or what?

I'm watching my XML going from MOON to DOOM due to the recent bear market. The XML lost over 50% within the last 7 days.

What should I do now? I waited for 16 days after all.
