This guy PM'd me randomly trying to scam me.
Well, I'm not SURE if he's a scammer. Still fun though!
Hello, Im buying XRP, How much would you be selling for? I Have 1btc for you available at this moment.
Hey,
When you start trying to scam people, do it to people who don't have "Hero Member" on their profile. Basically, that means that I've been here for 1 and a half years, and I don't fall for stuff like this.
Also, a few tips:
- Don't do random PM's: Make a thread to scam people with
- When you DO a thread, come up with a reasonable rate. Don't make it seem too good to be true
- When someone calls you out a scammer, do NOT respond violently! Come up with a good story and/or fake ID/info to "prove" that you aren't a scammer.
- This account is done for. Make a new one and make yourself known. The long con is always more profitable than the short-term .5 BTC scam!
In regards to the last tip: To make yourself known, you should go into #bitcoin-otc. Basically, this should help you get some rep that you can use on here. It's nicer to have 10 ratings than 10 random people that you've traded with on here.
Once you're on OTC, try and do some small-ish paypal trades. Do one every week or so. Then, after 190 days, ask for a 10 btc loan. This is where you make the profit!
Since you will have had many ratings, you should be able to get this loan. If you're feeling impatient, just take the 10 btc and run. However: It would be more profitable to pay back this 10 btc (don't pay it back too early; it'll seem suspicious) and get a 20 btc loan! Rinse and repeat until you feel like the amount is worth it to scam.
Whatever you do, do NOT give anyone your real ID! If you do this, people will have the necessary information to come after you once you finish the scam. Try and get/make some reasonably fake ID's. Remember: They don't have to work in real life, they just have to seem convincing. People on here don't generally do ID verification (with the exception of actual exchanges).
I hope you take these tips to heart and become one of the successful scammers in Bitcoin history! If you ever feel like you can't make it, just remember Pirate! He made off with a few million bucks, and all it took him was a year of building trust!
Good luck,
-Daniel
PS: Whatever you do, don't start with a lending thread! You will be denied.
