The entire BTC is shady. the black market who is 90% from BTC, to miners and exchangers. almost everything is shady when it's about Bitcoin Smiley

lol yet over 200,000 legitimate business accept bitcoin.

you might aswell call FIAT shady because of the street drug deals in detroit and the prostitution on the red-light district. along with all the fiat money laundering in HSBC bank. aswell as the bribes and blackmails of government officials. not only that but the banker bailouts and banker bonuses while simultaneously making millions of people homeless

Sorry but Gavin's story smells extremely fishy.
It makes absolutely no sense.
So now where Wright revealed himself a second time as Satoshi it shouldn't be any problem to prove to all of us IN PUBLIC!!
I say this is bs and just another attempt to screw the community.

Craig signed a message that I chose ("Gavin's favorite number is eleven. CSW" if I recall correctly) using the private key from block number 1.

That signature was copied on to a clean usb stick I brought with me to London, and then validated on a brand-new laptop with a freshly downloaded copy of electrum.

I was not allowed to keep the message or laptop (fear it would leak before Official Announcement).

I don't have an explanation for the funky OpenSSL procedure in his blog post.

this sounds like the stupidest thing to me.
we are talking about bitcoin here so all those news sites that are spreading this news should start with a signed message from the known satoshi bitcoin addresses or keys.

hiding it and not publishing the singed message publicly sounds to me like a shady thing.

What I don't get is the USB is carried to London but what is on it is kept a secret from all but a few? Why not just PUBLICLY show us all? What kind of proof is showing someone then saying "Go ask him, he knows".

Come on Craig, show me the bitcoin!

there was no USB stick.. only bribes

the USB stick and laptop snatched away seconds later is the ploy to now backtrack and make people like matonis and gavin look like victims of deception because they could not really double check what they seen on a (pretend) screen.

inshort they were bribed to create a media storm.. im guessing Wright has a court case and wants to submit media stories as evidence tomorrow. and so in a few days it wont matter that gavin back tracks.. by saying there is a chance the story is false as he could not double check it

btw why would Mr S.N. contact with that guy "gavin" before anyone from the core team? didnt he probe that he is not the "best" guy to contact ATM?

Because the original Satoshi turned everything over to Gavin. The only reason the Core team have access is because Gavin invited them in. If he hadn't there wouldn't be any Core at all.

The only people Satoshi had contact with were Hal Finney and Gavin, and Hal is dead.

This is ridiculous. If I wanted to write a primer on how NOT to unambiguously prove you are Satoshi, in a way causing maximum confusion, this would be it.

Either Craig is able to publish a digital signature of the Genesis block or Block 9 or whatever for EVERYONE to see, or this is another scam. Asking us to rely on trusting a 3rd party (Gavin, etc.) is PRECISELY what bitcoin was designed not to be.

Never underestimate the ability of scammers to provide seeming "proofs" that are invalid. It is perfectly reasonable to ask for published signatures for all to see, and excuses about "being difficult" (in Wright's blog post) don't cut it.

Until he actually transfer coins I'll remain skeptical...

After all, "Proof of Ownership" has been demonstrated on the chain that way since TX1

FYI, @gavinandresen's commit access just got removed - Core team members are concerned that he may have been hacked.

thats made me laught Tongue

Or you know, sign the genesis block correctly.

One way to prove that this is really Satoshi is for him to move the coins from the Genesis block...

That's not possible, deliberately so lol

If this is true then I believe Craig has bought the key from the owner of whoever mined block one, bitcoin was public by then. We know that the Genesis block is Satoshi's not block one. This seems like a large planned ruse from Craig to gain some sort of fame.

Who mined block one? Was it Hal?

One way to prove that this is really Satoshi is for him to move the coins from the Genesis block...

This hoax is very elaborate. So now Gavin is also in the same boat as this guy?

why not? then he gets to hide the real satoshi and can have this wright guy support his plans (to sway people).

makes sense

Who knows but Gavin in the recent past had a bad habit of promoting awful bitcoin scaling methods.

So could this be an elaborate conspiracy to promote Bitcoin Classic/Unlimited/XT ?

Gavin was a great developer once, but now he is just promoting hoaxes, it makes me feel unconfortable.

Or he got hacked - it happens. If you were trying to prove you were Satoshi, you too would hack someone well known to try to bolster your case. Sucks for the victim though.

What's going on guys I don't understand this. At first Gavin said he believes Craig is Satoshi now he may have been hacked. Is this another stunt attempt at a fake Satoshi Nakamoto imposter? Everything seems kinda fishy to me. Do you find the news conclusive enough to declare Craig Wright to be the real Satoshi Nakamoto?

he is not satoshi.

all he done was convert an old existing input script into base64..
he did not sign anything nor did he prove anything.

you too can be satoshi (by doing what Craig wright did)

go to
https://blockchain.info/tx/828ef3b079f9c23829c56fe86e85b4a69d9e06e5b54ea597eef5fb3ffef509fe?show_adv=true

copy the input script
3045022100c12a7d54972f26d14cb311339b5122f8c187417dde1e8efb6841f55c34220ae002206 6632c5cd4161efa3a2837764eee9eb84975dd54c2de2865e9752585c53e7cce01

google "hex to base64"
paste in the input script
convert

MEUCIQDBKn1Uly8m0UyzETObUSL4wYdBfd4ejvtoQfVcNCIK4AIgZmMsXNQWHvo6KDd2Tu6euEl13VT C3ihl6XUlhcU+fM4=
and now you have what appears to be a signature that is linked to satoshi funds.. and you never even needed a private key do to it

ask youself did you use a public key or private key. did it involve any sha or ECDSA process at all.. NO

i advise everyone to go to the media, contact section and message them of the fraud that craig wright is.

the only reason he is doing this is because he scammed some people into thinking he owns 1million bitcoins which he doesnt, but that blind ignorance caused those people to give him collateral based on the lie.. and now they are calling in the debt.. (australian government handedhim millions of australian dollars.)

he fled australia to avoid immediate prosecution and is now trying to use the media as proof of ownership. without ever actually proving ownership

so please will everyone convert hex to base64 all the inputs of all satoshi funds to prove we are all satoshi..

craig wright deserves to be locked up because its not just identity fraud. the main thing is the millions of fiat he has scammed out of australian government and private investors using that id fraud, he has no bitcoin funds from 2009.
