We will make the software available for download sometime tue. Thanks
Thanks for this.
and also on behalf of reactor who's posts are being deleted but I saw him say thanks.
updated this quote:
For those that would like to use an open source version of the mining software, we will make the software available for download sometime Tuesday. Please note that this will be an unsupported version of the mining software. Our support desk will not be able to troubleshoot issues if you choose to use this version of software.
We have made a business decision to not continue to develop open source software in this way. There are many benefits to developing managed software with the support of the cloud. So we will develop software in the ZenMiner environment.
If you would like to use our support center, you would want to use the ZenController. The ZenController is where we will push down new software and firmware updates, greater speeds, and more coming
Thanks
Thanks. I can understand your position and that you have confidence in the zenMiner project to commit to it in such a way. At least you will be making it possible for people to choose how they use the hardware and know which method is recommended for best performance and support.
For those of you previously that said, hey they're a hardware manufacture not software and are not obligated to provide software. Think of it this way.... If you just went out an bought a shinny new video card to blow your gaming off the hook... only to find out when you get home, there are no drivers and that the only way the video card works is if you buy a certain motherboard, you'd be kinda pissed to eh? So... it is necessary for hardware vendors to supply the appropriate drivers to allow customers to use their product and GAW just committed to just that.
Thanks
You are 100% correct, thanks for the response.
If you look at the math on the Fury, we are actually losing $30 per miner sold to include the ZenController (not to mention the licensing cost to them).
So why would we do that? The reason is simple. I believe we will provide a better user experience by providing a consistent and managed way of delivering updates and new firmware. This will increase performance and stability. This is why we made the investment and would choose to lose money on a product.
Our goal is build the fastest, most efficient and trouble-free miners on the planet. We are currently in discussions with other hardware suppliers about the same thing (A2,etc). Including the new miner that we have in development that will reach speeds of over 300 MH/s before the end of the year.
