Gizmodo were part of Josh/GAW plans from the start of the whole debacle. This smacks of a 'bagholder' article.

The only part I really don't like in that article is that it makes Badbitcoin sound like a legitimate scam-busting site. The reporter should have looked into who runs that site.

She also claims to have approached Rishabh, but happens to also mis-spell his name without the 'h' at the end, which would suggest the person who complained about being misrepresented in the emails is not likely to actually be *the* Rishabh who paid Garza millions of dollars by bank transfer, on the promise of numerous assurances about what great things were coming for XPY.

The article points out some things but I think it is more saying we are less trusting then we should be and that is just untrue.

It could be interpreted that way but overall it sounds like a balanced article. I don't think she's implying that people should have trusted Garza more.

Quote
The maelstrom around Paycoin is emblematic of one of the cryptocoin community’s biggest weaknesses—the culture’s erratic vacillation between bombastic ambition and sharp failure. It’s a movement that, by necessity, needs optimism and trust to survive, but with the continuous stream of disappointments, flame-outs, and heists, people are quick to cry scam. And they’re right often enough to keep doing it.

Who are "The 19" that they're referring to around post #66 in that thread?

These are the HT members who got the "Paycoin Origin" badge and the corresponding hashlet. Think Daffy, rootdude, Gava, etc, basically most of them left in the big exodus wave in January-ish. Josh later took their badges away, replaced it with "Paycoin Innovator", and blamed "the 19" for Paycoin failures even though many of the 19 actually tried to make it work.

A few of them were also shadow banned and even banned at one point. This cause some distrust among the group.

I was the first of the "19" to have my account just outright deleted.  Not banned, deleted completely, lest my high reputation make waves with the remaining faithful.

Oh man... this is that reporter that John Whatshisname tried to sucker into announcing their next "big thing". Didn't quite work out that way.

What did you point out?

I just pointed out that his testing methods werent good enough and that he didnt have enough developers.....

I told the truth ... my bad!

I just told someone to close their eyes and tell me what they see, when they asked if we're going to see hashbase.

Apparently that was ban worthy for one of the 19 XD

he accidentally sold miners that didn't exist, and lied about partnerships with amazon, target, and walmart, who hasn't done that?

Let he who hasn't sold fake miners throw the first stone.

I was actually one of "The 19" .... I wore a "Paycoin Origin" badge - I wouldnt say it was with Pride, though the one its been replaced with is far better, it simply reads "Banned".

All I did was point something out to Homero and he banned me, I wouldnt mind if I had been swearing or abusive, but hey - his loss, not mine. Smiley

Sounds like he is setting up to 'cop a plea' where however it works with the SEC get fined and penalized without admitting guilt or having done anything wrong or whatever the legal routing for that is. So he is apologizing to his flock in advance when the news breaks he's been fined and restricted in his 'business' activities .... but of course never intending to defraud anyone... Roll Eyes

How's that paypal buying paycoin story working for you now rishab,.

Absolutely, many people in this thread already posted long ago that Homero Joshua Garza was likely to try and 'exit' the scam by way of claiming he was genuinely trying to make things work.

Good point about Rishabh, by the way. While those who earn money through dubious means may be inclined to be of the, "easy come, easy go" mentality, they are also more likely to have a much lower bar towards acts of retribution against those who have crossed them.

The Garza clan most definitely set Rishabh up like a sucker, according to those leaked emails.

Amazing how the Paycoin Cult is reacting to this. If these people were not under some deep delusional mind control through emotional and financial investment in this scam, we would be seeing this:

And instead this is their reaction:

P.s: Just in case there is a few people still holding XPY in a major way that come to their senses today I am screen capturing the market charts.

okay... so anyone with "paycoin origin" in older archives are part of "The 19"... got it.

So this is going to be an interesting week... we have this little pump speech to try to keep the xpy up while hashlettes are dead at the end of the week... and if that "Jake" person was real, the main show ends tomorrow.  Hmmmm......
