Alright, gotta clear the bench for some TypeZero module testing so I have to take down the jerry-rigged Compac prototype. After 9 days 21 hours of operation at 200MHz and 630mV (drawing 700mA from my 5V source) I have 18,700 accepted, 6 rejected and 24 HW errors off an average cgminer-calculated hashrate of 10.97GH/s. This means about a 99.8% efficiency and about 0.32W/GH which I'm okay with those numbers.

Today's tests are for the initial base design for the power systems on the TypeZero. The test build as it is should only go up to 20A on the DC output, but an extension will give me 40A capacity (more if I respec a few parts). I expect the TypeZero systems to draw at most 37A but stock setting will be more like 34A. Of course we'll build it to handle more than that just in case. Hopefully we'll see average efficiencies above 90% (ideally 95%) on this one.

Nice!  Looking forward to seeing the first prototypes roll out of the lab.

I'll probably talk to the same people that I have to test Compacs when the Amita and TypeZero are available for testing. There shouldn't be any "private deals".

My apologies,  I definitely did not intend to pressure you.  like everyone following this thread, I am very excited about the work you are doing and look forward to getting something in our hands.

I work in a very technical field too - I do understand the types of ppl who press you to guess based upon perfect hypothetical situation then turn your guess into some promise/commitment you made, so when the variables outside of your control change to prevent the timeline you guessed at, it is your fault that you did not meet the deadline you promised.  So, I understand why you dont want to guess.  I was just curious. 

I have been reading this thread since the beginning, but I dont have update alerts sent to my cell on every comment.

The performance that you have shown looks very promising.  As, you said there may be some chip in development that might make that performance look weak.  If that does happen before you ever get to production, I hope that you all will continue your work with newer chips if they are available.

IF you do have some list of ppl you will contact privately about buying type zero boards can you please add me to that list.  I will PM you my contact info.

Bro he has not even sent us the usb's for testing.  No need to pressure him for the 'guess'

and I can see he answered 'no guessing' quicker then I did.


I know it is the classic 'are we there yet'.

I have a good one for that.  Driving myself my  Wife and  an adult couple + their  2 kids a total of 17 blocks. In NYC made every lite and was 200 feet from the museum we were going to , the youngest a 9 year old boy asked it : Are we there yet?

Cost me dinner with the wife as she had told me it was certain one of the two kids would ask.

BTW it is really hard for me not to ask for a date on my USB testing sticks.

Things aren't really getting close, if you follow the discussion. We're close on a one-chip stick miner. We're close to prototyping two chips talking to each other without issues. On the previous page of the thread, addressing a pretty similar question to this one, I mention I don't expect to even have TypeZero boards prototyped until the end of May, let alone have a plan for manufacture. And depending on what happens with folks releasing new chips, y'all might decide it's not even worth buying by the time you'd get 'em, or we might not be able to buy chips, or any number of other things could get in the way.

So, I'm not going to guess.

Course no electrical test. It's a cheap quick-turn one-off. We ordered a few more than we needed just in case.

Ah, any ol' picture would do, can always update at a later time anyway.  Right now I've just got the one that's in the StickMiners list.

The BE300 was what made us think seriously about developing a miner. We were waiting for news of it, and giving up on that is why we moved to the BM1384. Bitmain treated us favorably so we started designing, but the concept was initially built around the BE300.

I have what I hope is the completed Compac PCB, but I won't have boards in hand until after the 4th - more like the 8th I'd guess. We submitted the gerbs on Friday but there was a software bug causing an issue in one layer that we didn't get worked out with the fab house until Tuesday, which burned off basically the whole expected fab time. I'm glad they caught the problem instead of just making it as it was, because stuff would have caught on fire and I'd have had no idea why. I think four days lost is worth the more than four days I'd have spent finding the issue and the much more than four days spent getting new boards made. What "updated media" are you looking for?

Yeah that's what I'm hoping too. SFARDS looks like they're open to cooperation, but I don't care about scrypt so I don't really feel like paying dual-algo prices for chips and I also don't like high-power BGA. If someone could get BE300 into the marketplace I'd be all over that.

Bugger, i wasn't paying attention to that lot, it a shame, the be300 look like it was going to be a nice little chip.
Ah well, time for me to look into making my own chips (like i have $1.5M to put into asic silicon dev)

Yeah, very unfortunate.  Rumors have stopped flying.. people involved seem to have moved on from the mystery and are either dealing with personal or financial affairs.

Very tangentially-related... sidehack: if there's any updated media for the Compac design, I'd like to drop that into the BE USB 2015 anniversary roundup on the 4th.

I so glad we have some one that will keep the gear coming incase bitmain pulls a knc which I don't ever see them doing they know the value of all miners and what it can do for them in the long run , and looking forward to the stage 3 part more then anything, i may buy one of the USB sticks for fun .

Psst... you need chips from somewhere... let us hope Bitmain doesn't pull a BitFury.
