Think for yourself
How much power does the R606 take?

My two R606's, at just under 2Ths, take 198Watts.

Why so serious?
I got my Pi 4 up and running last night after getting a new microSD card and copying the new software to it.

My batch one R606 is stable at 725Mhz on power level 6 getting 956Ghs.
My batch 2 unit is at 750Mhz on power level 5 hashing at 1.005Ths.

This about the same performance I was getting with my laptop running Ubuntu 18.04.  So the Pi 4 seems like a great way to go.  If your a newbie to Pi's I would recommend getting a kit with a preloaded SD card and case with a fan.

I have installed Armbian with the newest kernel. Unfortunately the network card does not work there with OrangePi Pc, but its ok with usb network adapter. All the dependencies and Cgminer are working correctly.

Here is the link for Armbian newest version I'm using: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus-2e/#kernels-archive
But you will need usb > lan or wifi adapter.

Anyone could advice me, how to make cgminer to start after boot and always run in the ubuntu?

https://www.419mining.com
try running

Code:
./cgminer -D --verbose 2>logfile.txt

it will ask you for a url, username and password inside the program. and log all errors to logfile.txt.

for the url, only enter the XXX portion from stratum+tcp://XXX

... When you run cgminer, are you supplying any command line parameters or just running it as "./cgminer"?

I did supply the -o -u -p, the miner is starting with version showed up, but then it stops without any error. Is there a log where I could find what caused it to crash?

No one any advice on which OS runs the best with the CGminer and OrangePi (RaspberryPi)?

for RaspberryPI's we run Rasbian, a flavor of Debian specifically written for the pi's. We dont have any test of OrangePi's or examples. Your work if you can get it going would be invaluable.

Hey again. I'm trying to get CGminer to run on OrangePi PC. Installed Debian 8, kernel 3.4.39. All the dependencies are fine, compilation is fine, but when I start the cgminer it will show the version and then crashes without any message. Can anyone advice me? Maybe which OS and version would be best to run?

Thank you

Clueless!
Thanks. I'm sure I'll trip over other issues. If/When I ever get this beastie up!

Evil beware: We have waffles!
AFAIK the Terminus only uses USB for data so there should be no limitations there.

I'll probably use a straight Linux Lubuntu (light ubuntu) on an old laptop I used a mess of free ones (never to go beyond XP laptops for Linux) for miners in the basement to overview.

Evo N800v Compaq. Like 1gb ram. I'll see if they will work.

I have a USB 'toy' voltage tester around here someplace. What is the minimum I can get away with on these WITHOUT having to use the GekkoScience HUB toy?

Too many real-world projects and too little time, except for quick posts between projects (house) and Bitcointalk.

Retire they said, have more free time they said, yeah sure.

I use a pc that is mining with some GPU's. I use a spare pcie cable for the r606. The USB Jack may or may not work well depends on the controller in the laptop. I use win 10

Well. I'm finally getting around to cleaning old ASIC miners out of the basement and into storage.

Assuming, that means I will eventually get around to actually putting up my GekkoScience Terminus R606

I was looking at the 1st page of this thread. So first of many dumb questions.

I simply want to use an old laptop and a regular Corsair PSU with this unit.

1) is there anything I need to worry about on such a laptop for the USB port voltage?

2) I assume the directions I see on the first post of this thread do apply to the Terminus R606 also and there are no other divergent directions for laptops specifically vs the Raspberry Pi?

Thanks, that should hopefully get me started on this project of a least getting the R606 up once I clear room in the basement project.

later

To see what kernel you are on do this on your 3b+  at a command line type uname -r and hit enter.  The current kernel that supports Pi4 is: 4.19.58-v7l+...

Thanks for the command to check.  It returns 4.19.58-v7+, but it won't boot the Pi 4.  The red light comes on and the green light flashes once or twice and goes out.  I'm in the process of downloading the image now and I went to WallyWorld and got a couple new microSD cards and will load the image on them tomorrow.  That download site sooo slooooww.

Did you renew the bootloader as described here:
https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/
look for Recovery
It may solve your problem.

It passed their test so that shouldn't be the issue.  Thanks though.

He still has stock of goods for the time being but no further restocks will occur. I guarantee my products and warranty replacement will still be available from him as long as he is able or willing, and I will always honor warranty returns from any seller past or present. Continue to deal with him for now, and we'll make provision for an alternate handling of warranty cases should the need arise.

You're a good man, sidehack. Thank you!

You can use the same SD card however you will need to reformat it and install the latest Raspbian OS.  https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/noobs/

By the way, MinersSupply/rockmoney is no longer an authorized vendor for GekkoScience products.

That's a shame, I had great dealings with them; hope it was nothing bad! What happens with warranty work now? Do we still go through them if we have an issue or through you?
