So I was dog tired last night but I ended up getting all 4 Newpac's and the R606 up and running.

I know that i set the Newpac to freq 525 as i had before but now they dont seem to be running the same since i added the r606

I will get stats later (at work now)

i was hitting about 450-500gh on the newpacs before the addition of the r606 so that is my reference point i am going off of.

not remembering my settings i am currently getting 1.392 th/s as of 5 mins ago i do not have the 24 avg yet of course.

I need help...

@Gage-Miner   https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.50968875   is a set of instructions I put together for setting up a Raspberry Pi mining using the newpac's.    The only extra step you'll need to do since adding a R606 as well is to do the command  lsusb and hit enter.  This will give you some similar output as below.  The Newpacs and R606 both are the items listed as Future Technology Devices International, Ltd Bridge(I2C/SPI/UART/FIFO).   The only difference is the Newpacs will always use Bus 001 and the R606 will use Bus 004.   (Or has been for both my Pi and my Linux box so far).    So when you make your .sh file to run them, if running in one instance it would be as follows

Code:
./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://pool_address:port#  -u wallet_address -p miner_password  --usb 1:6,1:7,1:9,1:10,4:2,4:3  --gekko-newpac-freq 325 --gekko-r606-freq 550  --widescreen

Some users have had mixed results with the R606 on the Pi.  I couldn't never get it to go over 600 Mhz on a Asic Boost supported site.  And since I also have two Futurebit Moonlanders, it would screw up somewhere and lock the pi up.  Would have to do a force reset.  Without the moonlanders it worked great just at lower Mhz freq's for me.  After moving to my linux box (running Linux Mint) I have my newpacs at 425 and 1 R606 at 725 and the other at 675 running stable along with the two moonlanders.

So once bought the R606 pod, what were the steps to set this up and start working.

What were the altcoins, which were profitable to mine on R606.

If can pls pm also.

The first page has most of the write up on setting these units up.  If you are installing this in Linux you can follow the steps that I send Gage in the above posting. If you need further help in setting this up in Linux feel free to PM me.  I'll gladly help however I can.   As for Altcoins best suggestion is looking at whattomine site and getting a listing of what coins use SHA256.   There are quite a few crap coins that I've seen Prohashing.com will mine that uses SHA256 however not listed in whattomine's site.

Most users are bitcoin lottery mining.  If you are wanting to invest in any other coin probably the best route would be prohashing and get paid out in whatever coin of your choice.  You can find more information in the altcoin section of this web forum.

That's part of the CGMiner autotune process.  Vh has a diagram somewhere that explains the plateau.

Thanks for quick responses!! I can't find and install of bitcoin-qt on any of my machines, but an inadvertent install is very possible. Knowing that mining can't use that much data is a relief, I will try to find that trojan horse!

For mining, there's just a small block of json text that is sent back and forth every once in a while.
Per miner, bi-directional, you won't be sending more than 1 KB of data per second.

The entire blockchain is about 225GB.

If you installed bitcoin-qt, you'll potentially eat up a couple of hundred GB over a few days.

Agree, how in the heck an I using that much data. I'm a superuser nOOb, so not sure about mining usage, but that much data doesn't seem possible –porn 24/7 in 8k? I have never used over 200 GB a month until now...

Curmudgeonly hardware guy
Seems really unlikely. I've run 100KW of miners on under 500kbit bandwidth, which would take five months to download 800GB. The connection is shared with test stations that run up to 15x R606 for 24 hours at a time - maxing out that shared 3Mbit connection would take two weeks of 100% bidirectional use to move 800GB.

There's probably something you're missing, like a few orders of magnitude or someone stealing your wifi.

HELP, I've maxed out my monthly data!

I must be doing something wrong. I've used 800 GB data in 4 days running one R606. (I've averaged 750 gh/s on different pools, running windows 7 control with most services turned off, and I'm using Xfinity internet 1G speed in USA)

I love the R606 so much I ordered a second unit; however, i've got to get this figured out. I get 1024GB monthly usage on my internet.

Yes, got it working  Grin It seems the key step I was missing was setting up the .sh file. So I followed the instructions posted by mstrozier and my gekko's are all overclocked now and seem to be working well.

Thanks so much for your help os2sam and 419mining.

And thanks to mstrozier for the step by step instructions for us Linux newbies. Smiley

How do you create a start file that fires everything up.

The file that has stratum, password, freq and all that stuff.

Here's the link to the instructions that helped me get going.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.50968875

You may need to run the different types of devices in separate sessions of CGMiner.

I need help.

I dont know what I am doing.

Here us what I have:

1 X R606
4 X NewPac
1 X Raspberry Pi
1 X 7 port hub (Gekko Science)
1 X DPS-1200FB-1A Power Supply; 1 × Bundle PCIe Power Cable – 24″ (6 pack) – 8Pin

I had it working at 1 point before i added the r606.

I ended up wiping and now have fresh install of raspian.

Followed steps on page 1

How do you create a start file that fires everything up.

The file that has stratum, password, freq and all that stuff.

So lost and looking for help.

Thanks to any one

Also huge props to 419mining for super fast shipping and service.

Thank again in advance

Here is a link to step by step Pi setup instructions

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.50968875

Also check the top post for Pi instructions as well

Gems, I would follow these instructions and start over, I don't believe you are running the latest version of cgminer, that would help immensely.

Gems, can you send a screen shot? in cgminer you should see something to the effect of "0: GSI 1003XXXX: BM1387:2+ 100/100/100 . This will show what speed cgminer is telling your newpacs to run at.
the 100's stand for Current speed (100MHz) / target speed (100MHz) / peak effective speed (100MHz)

you may need to enable wide screen print, in CGMiner, press D for display settings, the I for wide screen. then space to return to the print out.

Hey 419mining,

I enabled the wide screen print, and this is what my session looks like:

Cheers,

Those are default settings I believe. Never used anything but win, is it not as simple as changing the numbers in your file or "details"?

Yes! I thought of that but I'm not sure how to do this on the Pi, as there is no BAT file to edit.

Don't know if anyone can help with that?

I thought there was a way to set each one by it's serial number but can't find the post, something like "gekko-newpac-s 10040024-freq 150" or similar.

shrimplomein pointed it out as well but what your referring to discussed in great detail by Morlok8k here at this specific post.

If they are all linked to the same pc then a single instance of cgminer will pick them all up. However it will try to run them all at the frequency you set it to, which can be problematic if you have a unit thats not as fast as the others. But a single instance for each one means you can tweak them individually to get the best performance from each.

cool thanks gt_addict.  I found this interesting post as well, where morlok8k talks about using the serial numbers as a means to configure different frequencies (I think): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.360

Zimbacard, just saw your post mentioning the same!
