Well I don't think that people realize how small the total altcoin market cap is at this time. It is tiny in comparison to anything remotely related to wall street etc. It is even small compare to the average bonus of somebody that works at the big wall street firms.

Given that what, will happen when big money starts pouring in?

Every coin on an exchange will skyrocket!!! These coins will never die.

Nobody will care about specific properties of the coins. The only concern will be a viable network.

The price of coins have just started going up, we will see big increases in the months ahead.

What about the coins not on any exchange? Well the key is to guess which ones will get listed and mine those.

We're now in the boom phase of altcoins. Most of them will be in the dust in a year's time. The ones that make it will have worth. The fun is in trying to work out which of those it will be, and the more coins there are, the more divided the hashing power, and thus the bigger the reward should you pick the right coins.

I think it's fine just the way it is.

Haters gonna hate...

Who cares what you think. What is happening here is something that has never happened before. No one is qualified to predict what will happen in the future with alts or btc for that matter. Its all just speculation.

Someone seems a bit cranky and has no idea how the free market works.

The concept is simple. Yes, there are a bunch or really stupid altcoins with either bland names or flat out retarded ones. However, the way things work is if someone finds value in something and people agree on the value, it becomes a thing. If people were to one day feel the US dollar is worthless paper and treat it as such, it'd crash big time. If there is an alt coin that is deemed too bad for the community, people ignore it till it dies.

Simple, no? There are many alt coins I flat out loathe, but guess what? I have zero invested in them, the value of them has no effect on /me/ as an individual. So why should you care, OP?

you predicted their rise, but that was rather obvious since as more people heard of bitcoin more would find out about alts. That rise was logical

The fall of alts is not logical nor obvious. I would say alts will continue to rise, if new alts stop spawning. Simply supply and demand.

There could be other circumstances that arise that we can not predict.

It is ridiculous to talk about 'supply and demand' with these coins.

Get real.

Copy and paste and create millions of billions of coins.

Do that over and over again, maybe a thousand times, and there is no supply crisis at all.
No reason to pay hardly anything for any of the coins.

Too many coins.

Have trouble reading by any chance?Huh?.... try again. I said if new alts stop spawing.. or perhaps comprehension is the issue?Huh

The exchanges are to blame their greed is obvious cryptsy needs to stop adding ever new copy and paste shitclone.

I explained to you already, that I was one of the only ones on the altcoin forums, last summer
who was telling people that altcoins were a good investment.

At that time, there was alot of rude people on these forums(as there is now too), and they attacked me at times.
I see.

Calling for an end to this ponzi altcoin thing,

and a return to sanity

Prior to the recent rise in prices of the altcoins,
there was somewhat of an investment opportunity,

but that has now turned into uncertainty,
and looking towards when the altcoins will come crashing down.

But there is not any investment opportunity, because the prices are too high.

All there is, is a possible gamble that you might win or lose,
and the risks have increased, along with the puffed up prices.

Are you like me, and does it irk you, that these new coins are coming out,
and they think that their new coins are valued at the puffed up prices of
the other puffed up altcoins?

Did you say the same thing about Bitcoin when it was at $1?

There is room for more than one digital currency - just like there are more fiat currencies than just the US Dollar.

There's nothing more lonely than a town with one lawyer.  A one horse race is pretty dull too.  Iphones may be dominant but ask Samsung if there's isn't a fair bit of money made being 'second best'.

Innovation cannot exist if there's only one option.  Why?  Businesses will not invest resources into a technology that they cannot, in some way, get around if it goes bad.  Companies are inherently conservative and no CEO worth 2 cents would commit to a technology knowing there wasn't another option somewhere.

The alt-coin market is flooded with crap.  That crap will die.  The bubble WILL pop in that regard.  But some of the options will survive or else the entire cryptocoin market collapses.  Capitalism works BEST when there are many options.  It works worst when there is only one.

I agree with you. I was trying to explain this type of philosophy to people on these altcoin forums last summer, but
they attacked me. Seriously. They were calling me names and all kinds of foul things.

Turns out that I was right though. The altcoins were a good investment back then.
I had thought that the better named coins were the most likely ones to increase in value, but it turns out
that any coin traded on cryptsy has gone up alot.

Therefore, the coin didn't matter in this recent runup in prices, and it was all about the exchange.

Cryptsy was the big winner, to tell the truth. All any coin had to do was be on cryptsy and it went up alot.

So the true value was not usually found in any of the coins at this time, but the true value was
found in the exchange is what I am saying.

The exchange was much more valuable than any of the coins.

The future most valuable coin is the one that is currently the most profitable to mine. Wink

In other words coins that are the most profitable to mine will have the worst value at the time until there block rewards are halved and not used as a dump into btc.

Even if Alts crash, they'll just go back up. I hate to break this to you OP, but Altcoins will always have a value as long as people trade in Bitcoin or even national currencies.

Wish I could help you, man. You seem pretty bitter.

prices were ridicules a while back. Now it is ok. Some coins like xpm, ppc, nmc, uno, cgb and others can easyly see 500% gains and more just in the next months. This is crypto. Good crypto is not cheap. Why should it be? I think prices are right atm. There is a lot of space for growth still. You think LTC will go back to 5$? Sorry. Won't happen.
