To go off topic bit... Absolutely! But the price would be sky high. My coins are specialty size, not the cookie-cutter 39mm. Pure silver in my size would cost a fortune.  However, I've toyed with the idea of minting a very few extra large, 39mm Bitcoin Penny™ commemorative coins. Who knows what my future holds... Wink

Very cool, that sounds pretty neat.   Smiley

And a painting is just a piece of canvas with different pigments slapped on it. What of it?

My point wasn't there are physical bitcoin "innovations" yet to be made, but that I could create a design or add some collectible feature that you would never have thought you wanted until I sat it down in front of you. Did you think you'd like a raven themed hologram so much that you'd make it your avatar on a message board?  Cheesy

It's quite obvious I have a vested interest in selling my surplus Ravenbit coins such as you do for promoting your own brand.  This is besides the point of the Node Bronze hologram being nice which I've stated before.

I'm more after precious metals than I am artwork which is subjective in value.

On a similar note, .999 fine silver coins are nice (and expensive), but look at how many .999 fine silver coins are still being sold which were minted two+ years ago. It's hard to sell all the stock. Sure, some of us are willing to pay $50-100 for a single collectible coin, but most people can't swing that much cash on a whim. Personally, I believe the current $15, non-silver Genesis Coins fit a niche and are (forgive the bad pun) right on the money. Grin

Unless you make a run of 1,000 silver coins, this isn't really true. I sold out of my only silver coin in a couple of weeks and my next design will be minted in silver first.

Have you thought about a Bitcoin Penny Limited Ed. Silver version?   Cool

Most mints offer a 27mm 0.25oz .999 silver round, which would be slightly larger than your penny (~23mm?) and the prices are not astronomical. You also don't have to incur all of the other costs (e.g. a custom sized hologram).

I agree with both of your statements. Smiley

With all due respect to the previous posters (some good suggestions imo), nobody really knows what they actually want.

Reminds me of one of my favorite pseudo-quotes: “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.” - Henry Ford

As much as I share both your sentiments from a technological standpoint, we're talking about a piece of metal with a sticker on it.   Wink

Simply put, I do know what I want (regardless of artistic design/shape - I trust wheelz would come up with something satisfactory) and maybe I didn't phrase it correctly above.  I would prefer my collectible coin/piece of metal to be made of a precious metal rather than a base metal.

I didn't dislike the distribution model but was off-put at the amount of alts that were not favorable.  I thought it was a really successful run for wheelz and I wanted to give my input that I would like Bitcoin and Silver.

oh, I agree. I'd love some .999 fine silver Genesis Coins too. I'm not saying that I (and most people) don't want them; I'm simply saying that I'm satisfied with the current non-silver Genesis Coins too.

Im sticking to the packs for series 2 and was thinking of throwing silver in the mix.   Only issue with that is with my distribution method it would kind of suck if you pay more per pack and dont land one.  So I figure its all silver or not you know.

Personally, I don't think .999 fine silver Genesis Coins are necessary. Stick with the less expensive ~$15 / pack formula. It works.

EDIT: On the other hand, I wouldn't knock a fine silver Genesis Coin. I'd add one to my little collection. Wink

Howsabout a special silver or silver/gold coin as a reward/award?

Yes, I know I'm biased quite heavily in this suggestion, seeing as I gobbled up a ton of the coins just to try to get a full series.

But, that's what made it extremely FUN!  Trying to find the coins so you could get a complete set.  That's what us actual collectors want... we strive to complete a full set of "something".  Be it a numbered set of all 1's, or a full set of MS-9000 graded, or whatever.

I could give a crap about most of the alts (and yeah, WTH is Coin2???).  I wanted them primarily so I could complete something.  I'm not really knocking your idea of "hey, this is part of history", I agree.  But there's obviously a larger alterior motive as well... Smiley

I'd say make a run of the most popular coins - Bitcoin, Litecoin, Namecoin - with different true PM options.  Make some all silver, make some silver/gold gilded, make some different weights (.5oz and 1oz maybe), and have some fun with an "awards" system.  If you have only a couple 3-coin silver sets made, and you need to complete a full set of whatever in order to get one of them, it should drive interest, and trading, to get them.  Number them, make them special colors or special designs to set them apart from the normal ones.

You kinda did this with your offer of a free set of the 2nd series to the first one to complete a full gold-plated set.  Take it to the next level.

That's my idea for making it a true collectable, and to drive people to want to be able to buy them and collect them.

I would say it is a good idea to have bitcoin, dogecoin, litecoin, peercoin and probably namecoin. Some of the bigger cryptocoins.

Thus giving that variety part, so that collecting is fun.

Silver is a great idea because fine metals are always pretty.

That is just my two cents for coins, as well as maybe a cap of 20 coins per set...

Silver is on the list and will be the next up.  Need to get some custom holos first as a semicustom just doesnt work on silver.  It will be limited on each coin again.  Will range from 20-50 for each line.

I'll echo the bitcoin sentiments, I was put off from purchasing more since I couldn't justify spending more than I would for one coin to try and get "that coin".

I also agree on the silver/gold aspect as I wasn't even aware that mine were gold plated until I read that numbers 1-10 were always gold plated.   Smiley

I'd like to see a small batch of pure silver Genesis Bitcoin coins (or gilded) for users who know what they want and are willing to pay for it.  I would be interested for a price of ~$65-80 for a 1oz silver Genesis coin.  Not sure if it's doable but figured I'd throw it out there.   Wink

....might have to go back to the drawing board here.

I'll have to respectfully disagree (partially) with the majority.

I can appreciate the altcoins angle. In fact, my overwhelming happiness at discovering a BITCOIN in the pack is only due to the fact that it's a rare coin in a sea of altcoins. If there were nothing but BITCOINs in the packs, I'd order one, open it, nod my head unenthusiastically (yep, it's what I ordered), then toss it in a dark drawer somewhere. But it's the rarity of finding that gem of a BITCOIN amongst all those lesser-valued altcoins that makes me appreciate my BITCOIN discovery all the more.

Sure, it's great to open a pack and read "BITCOIN," but it's nice to find a few popular altcoins like Litecoin, Dogecoin, and Peercoin too. On the other hand, some of those altcoins I'd never heard of, and I wouldn't want to collect them on their own merits, so maybe it's good to stick with the top 5+ altcoins (the safe bet coins that have a cult following and therefore a decent resale value) and leave those lesser-known altcoins alone.

Either way, I'm eagerly awaiting the 2nd Series of Genesis Coins. Grin

Christopher

Thanks!  Still weighing my options.  And I will also be using a pack of your bitcoin pennys as part of the promotion as well.

Like giving a little love to all the coin manufacturers out there.

I really liked the numbering system with the bags where it was like a pack of cards but maybe you could do Bitcoin with a special color or .999 silver for #21 and #1 or things like that, would definitely raise the price of the batch but I think if you did that for the Big three (Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dash) I think it would pay off.

Im sticking to the packs for series 2 and was thinking of throwing silver in the mix.   Only issue with that is with my distribution method it would kind of suck if you pay more per pack and dont land one.  So I figure its all silver or not you know.

The old people dont know what they want til you give it to them.  I think that way most of the time.  Some things work some dont.

Btw picked up a couple of your node color coins very nice I might say.  And also just a little teaser I will be using one amongst other coins as well in a promotion for series 2 Genesis coins.

I would like to see silver for the base metal! Also agree I had no idea what half those coins were...like Coin2? I still have no idea what that is lol.

Agreed.  If you have to do alts, at least pick ones people have heard of.   I would also like a solid silver as a rarity and/ or solid silver w/ gold highlights.   That would make people want the packs to collect different rarities.

I know I know.....bitcoin is obvious here.  After this series of coins bitcoin will be the focus (ironically its mostly all I collect as well).  Good, bad or indifferent just want want to mark an era of the beginning of cryptocurrency and these coins all play a part.  You can pull one of these out to your grandkids one day and explain to them what "shit coins" were.  Cheesy

In all seriousness this line will feature bitcoin on more than 80% of the coins.  Just wanted to extend the alts one more series.  As far as the metals go being this line will carry alts as well, the same base metals will be used.  Silver will be used in the future because well....thats what I would want to buy as well.  These will again be available in packs for general randomness.  Will detail out more as the prohect progresses....thanks all.

The only Alt coin I would consider being remotely connected to bitcoin would be Namecoin .. merge mining
