I am quite surprised to still see some positive reviews on Genesis-Mining, here and on some blogs. It's quite far from my own experience.

I've taken a yearly, Scrypt Mining 2 MH/s contract, at $158 on the 21/8/2014 at Genesis-Mining. The results have always been quite disappointing and I wrote to them about it in September. They made a vague answer, saying that things would change soon. But they didn't, and I never heard from them again.

Almost 3 months after the beginning of my contract, it has generated a mere $17. These days, my revenues are about $1 a week (!). No need to be a math genius to understand that there is no way this contract will ever be profitable. See by yourself:

So here is my review:

The good
. Genesis is a legitimate company, not a scam, and they do mine.
. Interface is great and allows you to mine different coins (which is cool), and to get automatic daily payouts directly to your wallets (even cooler).

The bad
. This maybe the most silent company I've ever seen. I don't think I've received a single email form them, apart from their (dull) answer to my request. Especially, the only place I've heard about "Project X" is here, not from them. No doubt they are busy, but I would advise them to take better care of their existing customers before trying to get new ones.

The ugly
. Absolutely not profitable. There is no way this service can get any close to ROI (except, of course, if one of the coins you mine comes to skyrocket one day, but then it would have been the same, had you just bought the coins when their price was cheap).

So, if you are, like me, just trying to figure out what you can expect from cloud mining, stay away from Genesis. Don't listen to people with huge Genesis signatures at the bottom of their posts, as they are just trying to get back some ROI with affiliation links. Genesis-Mining is not profitable, period.

Day 39 comparison of payments with Genesis Mining and GAW Miners Hashlets.
http://youtu.be/9Erlsr_Uj-c

So Ian,

I appreciate the comparison you are doing... but are these two small accounts all that you have?  Do you have a separate set of accounts at Genesis or Zen that you actually put more investment into?

Yes, indeed, I have been a GM customer since May and started with GAW miners when the hashlet came out at 15.99 USD. Bought lots of those which are now primes. I have zen hashlets etc.
I also have an account with ZeusHash, but that was mainly as a test account.

I thought the comparison videos would help people who were thinking about buying so they could get an idea of payouts, that's why I started with 1MH as it easier for people to then work out higher amounts. If someone wants to know for example what their payout might be with a 25 MH hashlet waffle, they could take my payout and multiply it by 25 for example.

Day 39 comparison of payments with Genesis Mining and GAW Miners Hashlets.
http://youtu.be/9Erlsr_Uj-c

Payments were as follows:

Genesis Mining 10 GH/s contract 0.00011388 BTC
Gaw Miners Genesis Hashlet 15 GH/s  0.00013304 BTC

Genesis Mining 1 MH/s contract    0.00019257 BTC
GAW Waffle Hashlet                   0.00000000 BTC
GAW Zen Hashlet                         0.00014590 BTC

The Waffle Hashlet payout is not a mistake, my payout today was really 0. Payout was lower than maintenance fee so they changed the payout to match the maintenance fee so instead of me getting a negative payout, I actually got Zero. Nice of GAW Miners I guess, luckily I just have one, if you had 100 of these, you would have got 0 too I suppose.

this is really good, but is there any potential risk ?
A risk whit Genesis Mining?
Not really, only thing i can think about is a fire, that will slow down mining.
But they have Mining farms on more than one country, so i think they did there risk management.

Genesis to the MOON!!

I read somewhere that they have a good system in place so if a fire starts, it can be put our fairly quickly and it was localised as well to minimise damage to other hardware.
Actually thinking about it, it might have been an audio interview that Marco Streng did once and was asked about if there was a fire at one of his farms, was a GPU farm if I recall as interview was in May I think.

Project X includes X11 GPU mining Grin Getting hot!

It will indeed, so all those GPUs they have will always have some work to do Smiley

Bought minimal SHA and scrypt contracts from genesis mining. Given the reduction of payout by half every month, roi may take several years. They need to reduce the contract prices every month to stay competitive.

Perhaps Project X will help, will wait and see.

Genesis mining 12 MH/s scrypt
10/19  0.00231699
10/20  0.00280542
10/21  0.00218875  Averages .00020309 per 1 MH/s

Gaw Zenpool 9 Zen hashlets + 1 Prime hashlet = 10 MH/s scrypt
I add a 2nd pool (CleverMining) to the prime every day. Kind of a pain to have to do this daily.
10/19  0.00171543
10/20  0.00196323
10/21  0.00177965  Averages .00018194 per 1 MH/s

Genesis Mining Averages .00020309 per 1 MH/s
Gaw Zenpool   Averages .00018194 per 1 MH/s

Looks like genesis-mining is taking the lead.

Right now Genesis wins GAW , specially since Genesis lowered the fees .
