I actually think that on the contrary, Bayern Munich is getting tighter than you might expect, apart from when you focus on the Domestic League that Bayern Munich is going through but it seems like you missed a lot of moments. Bayern Munich is strong not only in the Bundesliga but its prospects in the UCL are much more promising. Everyone knows that the strong candidates this season apart from Man City, Madrid and clearly Bayern Munich are among them. Both teams' performances this season have decreased completely, Union Berlin performance have become even more worst. Despite finishing in the top four of the league the previous season, they are still struggling to stay out of the relegation zone. Though Mainz finished the previous season in the ninth position, they are currently in seventeenth place with twelve points. As the season near to an end, if they do not improve, they will not be able to get our of their current position. Mainz still has a chance to pass Koln if they win most of their remaining games. Union Berlin is safe from the relegation zone which is very wide open compared to Mainz, at least that is what we can see from the rankings of the two teams and also Union Berlin has a three point advantage over Koln who are in the relegation play off zone and six and seven points ahead of Mainz and Darmstadt who are are in the bottom two.

Borrussia Dortmund at home is exactly the place to show strength and power especially with the support of these home fanbase who're definitely ready to see them winning this game.
I don't think the last meeting or fixture will definitely affect how they play against Freiburg who are not even in a good form or stability to stand up against Borrussia Dortmund.
In between, they're by far the best sides between them both, Dortmund has seen more points accumulated from the games between them.

Taht was not a pretty game between Mainz and Union Berlin. And there was no real answer who was the better team. One reason was because the pitch was far too wet. There were puddles at many places, the players slipped or the ball suddenly came to stop. Another reason were the teams themselves. Far too many fouls prevented the game from a flow. But one could see that the offence worked for both teams in the first half. In the second half of the game, the players ran out of energy then.
The draw has no great significance for the standing in the table for both teams.

This is not the first time Leverkusen has experienced difficulties when facing an opponent because in several previous matches they also conceded first before being able to equalize and win the match.
