Bitcoin is now open secret. Now people are getting to know about Bitcoin through various magazines, news channels, websites. Even now questions about Bitcoin appear in various competitive exams. This is how people are getting to know about Bitcoin. But most people know about Bitcoin from their friends or acquaintances.
Bitcoin will definitely surpassed most of these fiat currency because they're dormant. Bitcoin have been in existence and we know the crucial information about this project. It's promising, making people wealthy and also become the cause of downfall for most of these investors because they've grown to become ignorant of the space.

For me I had no much knowledge about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency but when I registered on this forum I was open to discussions about cryptocurrency and even after I have made research from Google and other search engines i still get more clarity from learned and experience people on this forum.

As a newbie, the best place to start making posts is in your local board that is if your country has a local board in the forum because you get to understand things better in your country's common language from members of your local board and if you make mistakes there you can easily be corrected unlike the general discussion boards where newbies are mostly criticized when they make mistakes. So after being familiar with discussion in your local board then you can literally start making posts in the general boards, that was how I started and as time goes on i became conversant with forum discussions.
I was also new to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency too but by joining this forum I learned much. I learned from experienced people and gain better understanding of how cryptocurrency works and which is the best option to invest. It is good advice to start with local boards where we can talk in our own language and learn without any hesitation. It is great way to build confidence and familiar with topics before sharing our thoughts with everyone. I also did same and started with my local board and then moving to general discussions. I am thankful for helpful community that taught me more about cryptocurrency.

Generally curious how people get into crypto/where they first hear about it. Also, what's a good place to start as a newbie?
It depends what you really want to learn as what you are interested in. We have crypto traders and investors, what ever category you want to fall to, you have to start working toward it. Being a crypto investor does not have so many things to learn. You can be an investor and still learning about the crypto space. The most important thing that is required for you to be an investor is fund, although it also applicable to being a trader too but one would need to have enough money to be a crypto investor because what it entails is using your capital to buy different crypto projects for the bull run.

You don't need to be surprised how people get into cryptocurrency because it is very common that people know the name cryptocurrency even if they may not have good information about it. But I don't think people are not aware that cryptocurrency has Notting to do with money. Because of the value that cryptocurrency has it makes people to have interest about and to know more.  This forum is a good place for you to start up your bitcoin journey because you will surely get a first hand information.  The forum does not tolerate false information about bitcoin and bitcoin related. As a newbie, let me introduce you to a book that will easily guide you on how to start your Bitcoin journey.
Learnmeabitcoin.com. This book is mostly recommended to newbies that newly join this forum because the book explained in details some basics information you as a beginner need to know and how to easily start and adapt to Bitcoin and blockchain technology.
Not everyone likes to read, but learning about cryptocurrency and even bitcoin will not be easy if you are not a reader. There are many other situations where learning about crypto will be difficult. If as a complete learner you try to learn about cryptocurrency without assistance it may be difficult for you because good learning resources will be hard to get. The assistance is something that this forum provides to those who do not have any personal guide.

Maybe the Op just wants to hear other people’s stories and is not ready to share his own. I don’t really know why the OP is really interested in hearing other people’s stories. When I first heard about crypto on  social media, whenever I am on YouTube, I do come across some videos about bitcoin and some other altcoins, so with time I do end up doing more research and learning more about it, and I started trading some altcoins even though I lost so much money then, but with time there was improvement.

Not only that he's interested to hear others stories without sharing his own but I also noticed that Op is not ready to explore himself on this crypto space. Someone who's curious to know about something will definitely dedicate their time to it but Op has not been online after making this post and I doubt whether he read through this thread to know how people heard and come across crypto in different ways.

Op, in case you don't know much about crypto, this is the perfect platform for you to equip yourself with necessary information and knowledge about crypto. From the forum name, you can see that we talk mainly about bitcoin here with extension to altcoins and of course to society related issues since we all live in a society, economy and how it affects crypto industry. The forum is up and ready for your questions, contribution, opinions and suggestions but without being active here, you won't get the best out of it.

Cryptocurrency has grown so popular that you don't even need anyone to tell you before you no that such thing exists because even in the news and social media it has been the talk on daily basis but though majority of people come into Bitcoin through social media and also one of the best aspect I love about Bitcoin is the fact that anyone can start investing on Bitcoin even without having so much information or idea, so as a newbie there is no limits to how far you will go on Bitcoin investment but however in as much as too much knowledge may not actually be too necessary but you need to learn some of the basic things about Bitcoin in other not to completely lack of knowledge on your investment and also choosing holding will be the best option for you because it doesn't take much of your energy and time, so for the safety of your investment as a newbie focus on holding.

I think, there are some people that heard about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency from television, newspaper and Internet before they began to carry out their personal research to know more about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency that made them to show interest to join this community, because they know that it will going to favour them in the nearest future. You can start learning from this Bitcoitalk community, because there are many people in this community who are willing to teach newbies to understand what Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is all about without collecting a fee from such newbies.  Make sure you are active in the community OP, because that is the best way to catch up on time to improve quality post in the community, because those are some of the things that will make other people to believe that you have learned from the community.

Your welcome to Bitcointalk forum where you'll learn more about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency as a newbie.Getting into crypto is actually a good decision and receiving knowledgeable information about crypto is also another crucial aspect to adopt in the crypto ecosystem. Many newbies have gone astray because of the misleading informations they received from one blog or the other, you just registered an account on Bitcointalk forum-a forum where you'll received legit informations on crypto and grow fast in the crypto space. You have to be active and read more on Bitcoin related topics inorder to grow your knowledge on bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

This forum is incomparable. Considering the amount of knowledge I have gotten so far from this forum, I can't keep it to myself but to try as much to refer other who have like minds in learning about cryptocurrency. The blogs can be really discouraging at times as they pose to configure our mind towards thinking that crypto is an invention for criminal activities and other sorts of hack, but in real sense they are only kicking about crypto because they don't have full idea what it entails, I wish they could see from my perspective.

You are fortunate to discover this forum early. Some people have lost money and time because they were getting the wrong information. Some websites promote scams and shitcoins and they give out wrong information. This forum has information about almost everything you need to know about cryptocurrencies and other related services. But you need to invest some time to read and understand this information. You are also free to ask any questions that are related to crypto. But before asking ensure you use the search option to check if such questions have been handled before.

To answer your question, I first heard about crypto from a friend and the internet. However, I became fully committed to learning about the industry when I was introduced to this forum. I can attest that this forum is one of the best places to start your crypto journey.

I was expecting you tell us your own story, where you hear about it and how you were able to pickup the courage and motivation to get into crypto, that is if you have even started investing in crypto or still gathering information. We are in the era of the internet and social media where information are readily available to anyone that is connected to the internet. It is difficult to see anyone with social media account and internet connection that have not heard about cryptocurrency unless in countries where cryptocurrency is heavily censored and citizens locked out from the rest of the world. Word of mouth from friends and family is also another great source of information that have done much of the convincing of people to join cryptocurrency.

You obviously are in the best place to know about cryptocurrency and Bitcoin to be precise. Bitcoin being the king of all cryptocurrency is the main idea for the creation of this forum.  But you can gain extra knowledge about other cryptocurrency here on the altcoin section of the forum. As a newbie in crypto you have to be very careful where you get your knowledge form. That because learning from a poor source or a wrong mentor at a young stage will affect your crypto journey in the as you go on. So what ever you do, try learning from the right people, which I think you will find on this forum. But be careful, having any personal discussions outside this forum with any unknown person to avoid being scammed.

Of course, you are absolutely right as it's wise for the newbies to be careful with their crypto journey as you have said and also try to do more of research by themselves like browsing or asking questions on Google etc.

And also they should be patient and learn about crypto because it's very essential to have the knowledge and understanding of crypto and this can make them not to fall a victim to fraudsters or scammers and it will also help them get or actualized their dreams because in crypto, any mistakes we make might affect us in the future which we might regret.

So if the newbies can adhere to all this opinion and be careful as you have said, their crypto journey won't be a regretful one for them.

Each of us has a story about how he discovered the crypto space and what his motivations were in the first place. Currently, the majority have become interested in this field for investment purposes, as Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies represent good investment opportunities, especially for those who have prior knowledge of the stock and currency market.

Personally, I started with Bitcoin when I was looking for a way to receive payments from my freelance work on the Internet, since my country does not support any of the international payment systems. Bitcoin was a valuable discovery for me. After that, I searched a little to find this forum, which helped me develop my knowledge and keep up with all the progress.
