Earning some merit won't be as hard as most newbie make it out to be - even if I'm currently having a hard time getting it myself. Newbie just need to make an effort to share their knowledge in meaningful discussions - it will encourage merit sources and other users to help you earn merit.

Basically the more you try to make constructive and useful posts - the more likely it will be for you to earn merit. Other user merited you with a some reason - it's not only because they find your post quality or constructive, but also because they want to help you rank up.

This may seem trivial to those who already rank high in the forums. but it really means a lot to beginners. Gaining Some Merits actually can revive dormant Motivation. But still I also realize that just motivation is not enough. but also must be accompanied by an increase in insight. with more diligent reading and so on.
Other beginners must also feel this way, right? I doubt if only I feel this pleasure.
Merits do certainly give motivation to everyone here, regardless of its position. It just shows that your posts have been appreciated and have been benefited by other members. But never stops the learning. Make it a daily habit to understand and learn something new, so that you will continue to earn merits and you’ll be more reputable and valuable member in the forum.

That's right, bro, one merit feels like a week. of course the quality of the post is also assessed. if in terms of delivery it is good, interesting, prominent and contains useful content, both in terms of explanation and supporting references, in my opinion someone will be very worthy because it is a form of recognition and appreciation for thoughts that are born from the intelligence of our brain, whoever of us here.

In the starting time when we get merits it really boost our confidence and motivate us to write more useful posts and it's like our efforts are being recognised by other members of the forum. So getting merits is like taking step towards your new rank till you get to legendary rank but still it makes you happy if you are not getting them too often. But it could be different for users who constantly get merits due to their quality posts.

it's not only you who feel "satisfaction" when you get a merit on your post, the majority of members here also feel that way (mostly for those who still have merit below 1000)

when I get merit on my posts, I'm a little challenged to keep working hard to improve the posts I produce, even so I don't force myself to do it, I'm more relaxed about it, in my opinion getting merit is something that doesn't need to be pursued too much. chase, enjoy the process more comfortable.

Absolutely! I completely understand your perspective. Gaining merits may seem insignificant to experienced forum members, but for beginners like us, it revitalizes our motivation. However, motivation alone is insufficient; we must actively enhance our knowledge through diligent reading and continuous learning. It's reassuring to know that other beginners share this sentiment too.
Anyone who is new in the forum always concentrate on earning merit instead of being concentrate on reading and making research of anything that is related to bitcoin, I don't know why some newbie are not ready to learn bitcoin instead they will be looking for wherever merit is being given to another forum member. For op information any newbie who focus on merit end up making pointless post thinking it's a quality post whereas it's not, when some one make research and come up with a good result merit will come the person's way instead of begging for me which the forum does not compromise that, before you earn merit you learn and understand how to make a quality posts that deserve merit, let all the new bitcointalk understand this point

I feel this adrenaline rush when I'm merited. It's like I should flood the forum with posts, which can be quite cool to an extent but if care is not taken, it could cause me to start talking rubbish. but then, that's what excitement can cause, right? And the most fulfilling one is when you get merited by a prominent member of the forum, it makes me want to take my time and go through the post that was merited over and over again.

Well, I don't think getting meritted is difficult; it's just a matter of consistency and how educative and relevant your response is on the topic of discussion.
Well,I don't know if I can see this with you, whether getting merit is hard or not,but I think merit is a little bit hard to get in the forum, because it is what guarantees your forum rank,so if it wasn't  hard to get, most persons who are newbies would have grown to be senior members by now.Getting merit really requires extra work, and an extra ordinary post that will be so captivating and will make one have no choice but to give out merit. If merit was given out easily,I don't think most persons would have bothered themselves making quality posts.
The very first time I got merited after posting for a long period of time,I was so excited, but at thesame time,I knew it wasn't easy, until the merits started coming.

If you have to qualify then you must work hard and hard work never fails. Getting your first qualification seems to be a special motivation for you and a great feeling is working within you. If you want to get more merit then you must work harder and you will get more merit. A person of high rank also feels elated when he achieves a merit. What you mean of course I got it when I first qualified I had the same feeling as you. However to increase your rank you must work hard, without hard work you can never expect anything. So you keep spending time in forum and doing some insightful analysis, you can qualify and change rank.

Goodnight, ohh Leo!!! 🦅
It actually does create this unique sense of reassurance and conformation on the fact that you're doing the right thing, and that the community has you in stock. It could prolly infer that your intellect has built way better, along side the forum's.
.. but that'll Normally be felt by low-ranking accounts as you mentioned. "The fact that you feel good whenever you're being given a wholesome wheat bread doesn't make you worthy of getting it every single time, or does it"?? You need to put in the work! One the contrary, many have been putting in Thier best efforts, but Thier best could possibly not be a warrant standard for the forum.

Thank you for sharing your personal story with us. However different uses and doors for room do not have the same way they feel whenever they receive merit. An example would be those people who are already working in the Bitcoin field and only come to those forum to promote their project the organisation or just two provide knowledge. This set of persons and not found posting in all the boards other than boards like technical discussion, mining etc did not even care about the merit system this is not to invalidate how you feel about getting merits. it is just me saying that not everyone is concerned about merits or no merits.

Once a man, twice a child!
I gave you 5, but I stopped looking when I saw that enormous image that you posted.
It hurts the eyes. I wonder why they do it without resizing the frames. They could simply look at how those with smaller frames did theirs and learn from them. This issue is same with those who make posts in capital letters all through. Though this has been reduced drastically now unlike what it was in the past here.

I admit, yes, that I also felt the excitement of receiving merits before my legendary rank. What that meant to me was that some members already recognized me and were benefiting from my posts. I always went back to study any post I got as much as three merits on to identify what "sense" I made in there that warranted such merit. It's a good feeling OP, nothing to be ashamed of there. Every veteran here felt that way, I can assure you of that.

Merit is a fun thing to get on this forum, but if you haven't gotten a lot of merit to get us up in rankings it shouldn't be an obstacle and you can keep yourself motivated, it could be that other forum members don't consider what we convey important and informative so there isn't any merit obtained, but it does not rule out because there are still not many who are aware of our posts, so it would also be better for us to also distribute the sMerits we have to other members who we deem worthy rather than just storing them, because there is no advantage in storing them compared to help each other.

Great joy is always accompanied when you’re being appreciated for your efforts and could also serve as an encouragement for you to do more. All beginners will definitely feel happy when merited for their efforts in the forum. The motivation that comes with it keeps you moving. But having more extensive reading and gaining more knowledge in the forum will also help in your journey here while not completely too focus on how the merits will come.
Exactly. Learning in the forum should always be the first priority regardless if you have been receiving merits or not. Do not be too obsessed with getting merits, that is just a single factor to keep you going in the market. The most important thing is to develop consistent motivation within yourself, and by getting yourself acquainted with the market lows and highs, that will keep the interest in you so you will continue to grow not only in the forum but even to your market ventures. Keep the faith and motivation so you will be successful in the future.

You need to ask of merit, because it's stipulated here that merit you don't need to ask of merit from anyone, I don't know while you are interested in merit instead of adding more quality in your post and make more research to that will benefit the forum, through that you can make a good quality post that will make you to earn merit instead of begging for merit, a merit is given by forum members who like your composition.

I still see getting merits as very interesting and motivating that’s why regardless of my current position, I still make efforts to get merits by consistently learning from the forum particularly from the experiences of reputable members. But let me remind you that getting merits should not be our focus all the time. The fact that we are able to help and influence others with our valuable and quality posts, even without receiving merits is still very fulfilling for us.

Receiving a merit is a proof of your hard work- you see that people appreciate and acknowledged that you indeed contributed to the forum.

In my opinion, communication on the forum is more like not hard work, but an interesting journey. You go through different sections and topics, read interesting or not very interesting thoughts and ideas, observations and news, share your own. And if your words attract someone's attention, and someone puts merits for them, it certainly cheers you up and motivates you to move on. Smiley

It's indeed giving lower ranks motivation to make more great contributions here in the forum. And probably every one understand that, even the higher ranks since they were once in a lower rank. Although it takes time and a lot of effort to learn so you can give a useful insight and ideas, once you received some merits, it boost your motivation to do better. Not just because of the idea of ranking up, when I receive merits, it kinda gives me confidence that my opinion or my idea makes sense for others, or that they appreciate what I said. It's really rewarding. When I noticed I received a merit, I will look at the post I did that gained a merit and re-read it, trying to see what made them give merits to it.

I am still studying the forum, checking up on the big guys especially how they contributed and grew to where they are. I will get there someday.

And as much as possible, do not just create high quality post just to attract merits but because it can be a lot helpful especially for newbies because of the value of the post itself. Although getting merits will also help us going and continue to motivate ourselves in the forum, but the best way to stay connected in the forum is to chase more knowledge everyday not just from our own intensive research, but also from the meaningful post of other members that we can also get to learn especially from their own owned shared experiences in the market.

Earning merit in the forum is actually what drives a lot of the members here to work hard because it is the only way for someone to be recognized in the community, and almost every member wants to be recognized. I think many people would feel at ease and refrain from contributing to the forums if there was no reward for someone's work, similar to merit.so the feeling of earning merits in here makes us feels how important we are in the forum especially we in low ranks.

Getting merits is a kind of motivation in this forum, almost everyone below 1000 merits feels some kind of joy when their merit count increases.
Since 1000 merits is what you need to become a legendary member and the legendary rank is the highest rank in the forum. When some people hits that 1000, they will become less concerned about merits and merits will stop flowing to them. Unless for some exceptional posters.
Then there are some who are competing to be known as people with the highest merits in the forum. These people even after 5k merits are still banging the more.

Op, be calm everything will fall in place for you only if you will remain consistent, abide by the rules and produce quality.

LOL.  I created a thread about that some years ago.  There was some jackass who'd routinely create threads with huge, unnecessary images and it was driving me crazy--and worse yet, other members would quote the damn images in their own posts.  There oughta be a rule, man.  There oughta be a rule....
When a user over use image in his or her post is not good but minimizing the use of image might give some beauty in the posts. But one thing I discovered from those user s that, they are inserting image to their threads unknown to them that using image in all there post is bad. All what they know is using image is to put more beatification to the post.
You're probably right for most members who've earned a ton of merits and have ranked up to Legendary.  Just speaking for myself, I was curious as to how many merits I'd earn when the system started in 2018, because I thought I was making some decent posts.  After a while, it got so that I didn't need the validation that receiving merits gives and at this point I'm much more concerned with giving out merits than I am with earning them.  In fact, I've often asked people not to merit my posts, but to give merits to someone who can use them to rank up.
Smile, just as if you speak my mind. Since merit became the motivator in the forum, everyone is struggling to be merited. And those images those users insert in their post is to attract more merit but irony is the issue in many time. Merits is still good to maintain the 120 days  Grin.

yes, it is very true that getting a reward will certainly make someone more confident and also of course it will make us happy and fundamentally we will continue to improve the quality of discussions and it is true that discussions will be better with lots of broad insights, and to add broad insight can diligently read and find good information.
because if we discuss with broad insight it will certainly make us enjoy the discussion more.

yes, I admit that sometimes when we get some merit, it is true that it will add positive motivation for us and can trigger us to be more active in the forum. but keep in mind also for beginners in particular that don't get used to only being motivated if we get some merit.
because if we are only motivated when we get a merit then it is possible that if we haven't gotten the next merit or haven't even gotten a merit at all then we will easily give up and stop contributing to the forum.
it's better to focus on continuing to learn and grow from day to day, the more knowledge we read, the better the discussion or comments we present in the forum.

Receiving a merit is a proof of your hard work- you see that people appreciate and acknowledged that you indeed contributed to the forum. It also gives you the feeling of confidence where your efforts are validated due to your contribution. I agree- receiving merits is one of those feelings of satisfaction and hunger where you want to contribute and create more threads for people to appreciate.

I applaud your purpose in this forum- you create posts in order to contribute to the betterment of this forum. While others are too busy to rank-up as they create spam threads, your focus and goal is toward creating a healthy environment for everyone to learn and accept.

Keep up the good work, OP. While you may be only scratching the surface, you are definitely doing it right and going on the right direction.

I guess we've been all thru that scenario where we are happy whenever we got a reward for posting high quality posts, but over time, that level of excitement will decrease overtime until you will be reaching to a point where you seeing getting merited will just be a normal thing to you. I'm pretty sure those people here who have many merits right now are the ones who are experiencing that. Am I right? Smiley

Getting merit is like receiving appreciation from someone or even the community that your post helped someone or is educating. When you get such appreciation it serves as a motivation to put in your best and do even better. I remember the fulfillment I had when I got my first set of merits in the forum. It gave me confidence that my input is appreciated. But this mindset can also be deceptive because it is not every time you might get merit from doing a good job. Expecting merit always is not bad but it could be discouraging when you don't get it when you expected it. There are some posts I thought will fetch some merits but it turned out the opposite and I was a little bit discouraged.

To me, the best approach is to keep doing your best in the forum. Keep reading, learning, and sharing quality thoughts. Let learning and not merit be your driving force and motivator, if merit comes that's okay but merit shouldn't be the main focus for contributing to the forum.  But, naturally, merit will always come when you are valuable to the community.

Getting merits in the forum is one of the best feeling wherein we can say our hard work and efforts from the start are now paying off. That’s when our post turns into high quality and become highly beneficial especially for the newbies. So it’s not just for beginners actually but for me, even you’re top on the rank will still be motivated by it. And with continuous motivation to widen your knowledge and develop your skills in the forum, that will make you a trustworthy and valuable member in the forum.

Not only for beginners but even for higher rank members, getting merits still create a positive feeling and will always boost motivation and self-confidence. That’s one way you’ll feel your self worth based on how others acknowledge your post. But this is not enough so you can live longer in the forum. Stay learning in the forum by doing continuous research especially on topics that you find it hard understanding it. And just enjoy every minute of it so you will never feel the pressures that most newbies have experienced.

I think receiving Merit is exciting for newbies, obviously it’s fun to rank up your account which is only possible with increased Activity & the well known Merit totals for each rank. I don’t like giving advice but as a Newbie it’s important not to beg for Merit or make it obvious you are fishing for it. Just browse around the various areas of the forum, participate in convos of topics you enjoy & the Merit will flow in.

Even on high ranks we still get a joyful feeling when we received merits. It does means that we are beinf helpful or someone must have like the response or topic that being shared. Receiving merits are one of the best feeling when you are here in forum and I understand what you means since you have a goal to rank by means of merits. It will eventually come anyway, just be motivated always and do your best to contribute in this forum.

That's right, even though I'm at the top rank, I'm still happy when I get more merit. Maybe the feel will be differents with members who are trying to reach the rank of Junior member to Legendary. However, when there is additional merit i get from the posts I made, i'm still happy with that. So, basically, for some member, merit is more than just to rank up. But to show to other member who they are. Well, the character will be different for those who have merit, the most important thing is that we can continue to learn to contribute, that is the main goal in this forum.
It’s always a great feeling receiving some merits especially if it’s given from reputable members in the forum. It will certainly uplift yourself and will develop more motivation to even improve what you currently have. However, we should not feel pressures when we rarely receive it as it does not mean that our post are not good and quality enough. As long as you’re align with the rules and you’re giving the best what you genuinely have, then you’ll always be a reliable and good contributor to the forum.

Who doesn't like a reward ?
The reward of merit might not be as valuable to legendary members but it surely is worthy to the rest of the ranks.
Whenever someone does a action, the reward gives them adrenaline to repeat the action with stronger force.
So the reward obviously gives us motivation to work harder and I think that's why the merit system was put into place.

Everyone who reached high ranks started the same way, so no need to say that high ranks do not understand how beginners feel. For some of us, the first ranks were very difficult, the Full Member was especially difficult for me, at that time every merit was like a holiday.

But you should not think that it will always be so difficult, since subsequent ranks were achieved easier, I don’t mean faster, although I don’t remember by time periods, but the point is that everything happens easier in the future. When you stop focusing on it, the result comes easier. It is always pleasant to receive merits, I don’t think this will change, but for this you need to go through the first difficult steps in order to move more confidently.

Getting merits as a newbie especially after taking so much time to.settle into the forum can really a big boost and motivation to newbies. When newbies get merited for a post or comment, it really is a big mental boost to validate how they think. As a newbie before, I can relate to the feeling of getting merited for a contribution, it has a special encouraging kind of feeling. I have never been validated for a comment or in a discussion before for what I have said, the forum is the first place that I have experienced that. Getting merits for a comment has greatly increased and improved my confidence.

You're not alone in this path my dear and even uptill date, I still feel very happy when I get merits not just to rank up but it also makes me feel I'm truly making positive  contributions  to the forum  and the more the merits are on a thread, the more drives to wanting to increase post quality  becomes also more.

I can relate with the joy that comes with earning merits as a newbie especially  when you're not really good with writings, and so far, the forum has thought me so much including the value of grace and consistency.

You should also know that writing quality  post is truly a virtue and with quality  post, one can visit your profile anytime and find some meaningful post to merit but cases where you don't have any meaning post or quality post, then you'll  miss that merit that day because there are some random profile reviews done by higher rank members and staff.

I started going through your post history to see if I coiuld give you some merits. I gave you 5, but I stopped looking when I saw that enormous image that you posted.
Thank you sir for taking your valuable time to view my post history.

about the picture you mean. I've tried to fix it by resizing it to make it more pleasing to the eye. but I don't know if it's getting better or not.

Regarding the images you post making an effort to resize them to increase their visual appeal is a fine undertaking, but as aesthetic perception can vary between individuals, your willingness to accept feedback and make adjustments indicates a proactive approach to increasing your contribution. Maintain a positive attitude and continue to engage with the community. Remember, the more you participate, learn, and adapt, the more you will grow as a forum member.

Start slowly, every constructive correction will give you new knowledge about how to post better than before. Small mistakes can still be fixed, such as changing the size of the image so that it doesn't fill the screen. Corrections like this are very important for you to produce posts that are pleasing to the eye when you attach images to posts.
Of course, a smaller image size will make your post more elegant and better for you and whoever views it.

You have a good feeling and as a new member to the forum, it is just normal. Getting merits mean you are on the right path.
What is the right path?

1. contributing valuable opinions to various topics in the forum
2. making valuable posts that educates every reader in the forum.

What next? You need to continue to make valuable contributions in the forum; and also learn equally from the forum.

there is nothing wrong with what you feel because getting merit means that the posts you make are liked and are of sufficient quality by members who give those merits to your account, but it's important for you to know that merit is not something that you have to aim for or get on this forum, there are many other things of value that you can get and the main thing is valuable information about cryptocurrencies and also bitcoin.  anyway, if you don't get merit in your post, don't feel bad about it, keep improving the quality of your post.

Even members in higher rank is also motivated when they received merit on their posts.  Since for the poster, merit is some kind of recognition that our post contribute something to the forum or have help others to understand things.  Or simply people appreciates our ideas.  You can see how many members become motivated in sharing their experiences in Bitcoin when the first thread about bitcoin adoption in his store, or how they teach Bitcoin to their neighbors got a huge amount of merit, many same thread are created after the success of the initial thread.

Not just for newbies but even to high rank positions, it’s always fulfilling to see your posts are being appreciated and are merited, and that will motivate you even better to improve more of what you currently have. However, motivation is not enough, but it’s a big help actually so you will develop more enthusiasm on what you are doing. And when you’re a forum member, you should never stop from learning. Not because you consistently learned from other reputable members posts, but also because you often do researching as much as you can the moment you’re in doubt or you think your knowledge on that certain topic is not enough.

You (and the lower ranks) are not the only ones who enjoy getting new merit. Merit for high ranks also means a lot, although it has no effect, like moving up the ranking table. Merits allow to feed your inner ego and feel the usefulness of your posts. Of course, this motivates to try to write better posts.

Since merits determine the quality of your content, you can see that gaining some merits encourages someone to learn more and improve their quality of posts. As a result, any beginner who has gained some merits in a post must consider posting something more significant than the post from which he gained those merits. However, it is true that merits boost someone's motivation in the forum. When I joined the forum for the first time, I wasn't serious because it took weeks before I received a single merit. I was on the verge of giving up, but when I received a single merits from a senior member seriously, that was when I put more effort into it, and we are all now here simultaneously enjoying the forum.

Even members and full members, in my opinion, still experience these kinds of emotions when they receive new merits. I can honestly say that whenever I receive merits from high rank members, I experience the same emotions as the OP because I believe that what I did was good and that is why they merited me.

Welcome back Jet Cash. You always hate images but I understand it.

Images consume bandwidths and impact loading experience for people who have limited access to low speed of Internet.

Images are annoying if they are too large and the poster don't use options width and height to reduce its display size. Those options only reduce the display size but the image size will not be changed and still can affect loading experience.

Getting merit from a post in this forum, which you have made with all the knowledge you have, will definitely feel very proud. Because in my opinion, it's not only beginners who are happy when their opinions or posts are appreciated by other people in this forum, those who are ranked above beginners will definitely be very happy if their posts are appreciated and appreciated by other users in this forum.
So if you feel very happy when you receive merit in this forum, that is something very reasonable, because with the merit system implemented in this forum, that is a benchmark that the posts are of high quality and useful for fellow users in this forum.

It's true that just having motivation won't be enough, because still learning and deepening knowledge, especially about crypto, is a very mandatory thing, if you want to make a bigger contribution to this forum. But even having great motivation in my opinion is a very good start, because what I feel from this motivation arises a desire to be able to explore deeper knowledge about crypto (in particular) to become more enthusiastic and more focused. So use the motivation you have now as well as possible. So that you can contribute more in this forum and can be useful for fellow users in this forum.

Motivation? Excitement? Happiness? Enjoyment?
I guess we've been all thru that scenario where we are happy whenever we got a reward for posting high quality posts, but over time, that level of excitement will decrease overtime until you will be reaching to a point where you seeing getting merited will just be a normal thing to you. I'm pretty sure those people here who have many merits right now are the ones who are experiencing that. Am I right? Smiley

As for me, TBH I don't feel any motivation whenever I get merits. Yes I'm happy that I'm getting merited because of my posts, but I see it as a normal thing already. Anyway, for newbies out there, for sure they're happy that they are getting merited for the first time, and for those low ranked members, getting merited is like an achievement to them, and it's a good thing to see it that way because getting merits adds motivation to users, and getting motivation means more high quality posts, and that would be better for the forum as a whole.

Well, I just hope for the OP to get more merits aside from the forum events because obviously on the 11 merits you got, 9 came from Pizza Event. I've joined different events here in the forum as well like the Pizza event in 2022, and the other one I think 2 years ago, and got much merits there. Gain more knowledge like what most of us are doing here.

You want merit to get motivated and post here. You probably need to learn how the merit system works, begging for merit is not the way of earning merit, you need to make constructive post to get merit from the members. If your post or thread helps anyone or anyone find it interesting then only you get merit. SMerit is not unlimited so members just wont throw their merits here, you have to earn it.

All beginners must feel that way, motivated and even more enthusiastic when your comments or threads are appreciated by someone with merit. it proves that it really deserves it.
But it's quite rare that beginners don't get merit because they don't progress. not only beginners, with a legendary rank account can't even get any merit at all, because that will depend on everyone's insight. I also still rarely get it and I admit I don't deepen the topics I comment on. Still need a lot to learn and require broad insight.

Well, the merit could stand as motivation, but before then, one should be self-motivated first by being productive in the forum; otherwise, I don't believe that even after receiving the first and 10th merits, there could be any improvement. First, for a newbie who doesn't really know more about crypto and the forum, they should first be interested in learning before even having merit, although some newbies get lucky just on their first or second post and receive some merit. I know in my early days here, I still got partially motivated by merit, but yeah, I just had to be on my very best, read quite a lot here, learn from others, and contribute positively. My posting style was not based on merit motivation again, but I feel more satisfied any time I drop what I think is a good opinion (I can't say I don't expect merit on such posts), but most of the time those posts never got merited, but I just got motivated to keep being productive in my comments. That was the reason I said one must be self-motivated first; so that if they don't get the merit coming, they will not run off and abandon their account.

Getting merits helps because it feels like your effort to get to another rank is moving and progressive. Same is applicable to other websites like, when you get more upvotes on reddit or quara you'll see yourself being more active on the platform. It's good that you're observant of how the merit makes you feel, meaning that you're learning and practicing it the right way in the forum. I'm glad to read legendary members admitting to feel the same way despite being on the last rank. I think it has to do with the Brain. Comparing with social media, accounts with more impression stay active and those with lesser impression tend to quit earlier, than they expected.

As time goes on it because normal, you'll no longer get excited or motivated when you receive merits. Just wait until it begins to occur regularly then you won't feel anything more since you know you deserve the merits you're getting. You get motivated when you don't receive than often which means you need to work on yourself. I'm not saying you aren't putting in effort in your contribution but when you received something you already know you deserve you won't feel excited as someone who doesn't deserved it but was gifted. Nevertheless I get it that lower ranked users will appreciate it more when they received some merits because they need it for ranking up

Such behavior is normal for those ranks but the higher ranked users can't say the same (especially legendary members) since the merits mightn't mean much to them anymore. Merit was introduced to highlight quality contributions so when you receive merits on your quality decision, you did deserve it so it shouldn't excite you much and when you noticed you're still getting excited then work on yourself more (increase your quality and board awareness) so you can get more merited and the feelings leave your body.

And that will only happen if we never stop from making DYOR and be more open to constructive criticisms as that will help us develop the best version of us. To be honest, this is probably a normal reaction to our achievements in this forum. Moreover, obtaining merit can be said to be not easy and quite tricky. there are many reasons why we still can't get the merit. on the other hand, if someone has received the payment from a truly qualified process, then there will be a statement for him that there are other people who do too. but don't just stop there, the struggle is still too long and there are many things that must be done in order to achieve it to make posts even better and more contributive

Merits can serve as inspiration to make a forum user feel valuable and motivate them to conduct additional research and share their results in order to contribute higher-quality content.

It's excellent to conduct additional research to produce high-quality forum posts, but it's crucial to avoid copying other people's work from elsewhere simply because you desire to create quality content that will worth merit.

As for newbies, to gain merit is what they are eager to do. So in that course, they go extra miles to rendering services within their capacity to achieving their goals. We have all been there. There is joy, excitement, and a motivation to create high-quality posts in order to earn more merits. I mean merits are like commending some members so it supposes to motivate other members like newbies for sure, we give merits to posters that make a constructive and informative posts here in the forum so that they will continue to make more posts like it, this newbie will be the future of this forum so we need a lot of them to continue here in the forum, and giving them merits is one of the best ways that we could motivate them.

It's obviously not easy to be consistent to post in the forum, you need to give a lot of time on it, plus sharing your experience and knowledge is not that easy. Merits is a good system at the same time because reducing spammers and avoid members to rank up they just have a lot of posts on their accounts. It helps a lot in increasing the quality of posts of the users here in the forum.

If you rejoice at getting quick pizza baking merit, then you can conclude that various contests will be motivational topics for you.
For everyone present here, the moment of increasing the rank is interesting since such a tradition has been established here, but choosing exclusively topics for distributions is not a good habit. So try to ignore merit and not expect great recognition from each theme you create. You'll be surprised how much merit will add up once you start being sincere on the forum without expecting any personal gain.

I completely agree with you! Gaining merits is crucial for beginners as it revitalizes their motivation. So challenging to get those evasive merits and it can really boost our moral especially when someone appreciate our post then they give merits. It can inspire us to do more better since this could motivate us to get more then rank up.

Other beginners might not feel the same way since other really think that its hard for them to get that then maybe they are just wasting their time for just like this.

Everyone feels the same as like you and when it was my starting I thought that Higher Rankers gets more merits but the reality is that they are mostly active and we'll educated about the crypto. And the most important thing is about their contribution in this forum.

Don't get it wrong, merits shouldn't be your motivation to being active on the forum, i bet it's not because of merits you're joining the bitcoin community, you're expected to engage on discussions either you get merits or not as long as you wish to stay, there are many high ranks members always active and barely gets merits even when they post, the taughts in your post is what gives the reader the conviction that it's merit deserving.

But still I also realize that just motivation is not enough. but also must be accompanied by an increase in insight. with more diligent reading and so on.

How do you cope if you don't receive merits for long, will there still be motivation at all, also know that the higher you go in rank the more the requirements from you increases in other for you to have better opportunities through the quality of what you offer to the forum.

If your goal in posting here is to get paid contributions, merit will be an incentive for you, but it is a temporary incentive, so soon you will see that you will make these posts quickly to be paid, and so on.
Always try to search for topics that you do not know anything about and learn from them, as this makes you able to open any topic in the forum and you will have a minimum understanding of it, if not active participation in it.

Otherwise your posts will be within the limits of Bitcoin Discussion, Economics, Altcoin Discussion as it is hard to see with all those posts and therefore less likely to get merits.

I think merit is really motivating most of users in this forum, when you're still a newbie, you might think getting one merit is really big. But after you have reach at least Senior Member rank which is need 250 merits, you would be think the first merit you get is more valuable than the other 249 merits.

Absolutely! I completely understand your perspective. Gaining merits may seem insignificant to experienced forum members, but for beginners like us, it revitalizes our motivation.
Dude, you have not yet received any single merit, how you can know the feel after getting merit from someone? it doesn't make sense. When I was a newbie and not get any single merit, I can't expect merit is really motivating me to keep posting and increase my quality.

I actually understand how you feel; I have also been there before. I was among those who created their account and abandoned it because of the fear of what to post and how to do the right thing here in this forum. Until when I took a bold step after 3-4 from when my account was created I dropped my first post and comment asking questions and dropping some few contribution under some post, immediately I earned my merit which was during October 2022, I became motivated and was no longer afraid of posting, like I was before. Those merits show me that people are okay with what I said; my idea or my question was reasonable, which made me start posting, and by doing that, I was also open to learning more.

Even as a high-ranking member's earned merit is to some point still motivational, it makes one put more effort into doing what he or she did that earned them those merits.

Everyone likes it when their efforts are appreciated. and also for all users in this forum. So it's not even a matter of low rank or high rank. But I think everyone will feel the same way. It's just to a different degree. And maybe it's true that for beginners getting Merit can foster higher motivation and enthusiasm. Because I've ever been in that position. when I first joined this forum. But what's more important is to focus on our goals on adding insight and believe me the quality of your posts will increase by itself and getting Merit will be more enjoyable. And the most difficult thing to maintain is our level of consistency in maintaining quality. because sometimes the influence of problems from real life can also affect our mood here.

I’m not so old in the forum that I can’t remember what it was like to have my first merit, that 1 merit was enough motivation to make me do more. Reaching a total of 100 merits to become full member is the most gratifying feeling one can get in the forum because merits seem to be a hard task for newbies. As you increase your ranks and become more active in the community, you become less excited about merits and ranks.

Ranking up is a motivation and for me it is still a motivation. Getting some rewards can indeed add enthusiasm to keep trying to give the best because everyone will not keep sMerit in their pocket when they find something unique and useful from someone else.
Some time ago, my sMerit was empty because I principally kept sMerit not good. But right now my sMerit is filled with as many as 4 that I can take out. Maybe I'll put one out for you after this post.

Here you know what you have to do to get people to send you some merit.
Don't force yourself to get it, but focus on the useful things you need to do so that people see you as unique with your own character.

I see from the 55 posts you have made, you already have 11 merits which means you can issue 5 merits to other people who you think are worthy of giving. Don't let sMerit settle down because by distributing sMerit, we are already running the merit system as expected.

Although I don't look too much on my merit count, whenever I accidentally notice changes in my merit count, it feels like an interaction already even if I don't get reply/ies in my post.

It's nice to somehow meet an internet stranger sometimes. Cheesy

Even being a Legendary, I like it when I receive merit(s). It shows that you have contributed something which others appreciate. That's what the main goal of this forum is.
Make your contribution and let community decide if it's good or not. If it is, they will show their support with merit(s). A newbie getting merit is a sign of progress on his/her understanding of this forum.
Reminds me when I get an upvote in a 4 year old comment I made in Reddit. Cheesy

Motivation must be supported by increasing insight in order to produce quality posts, Newbies must feel how difficult it is to get merit, but all of these are just wrong assumptions in my opinion. Motivation needs to be fired with high willpower, you must try to increase your rank in a way that is commonly used by other senior members.
Nothing prevents anyone from increasing account rank, sooner or later you will get a high rank as long as you continue to add insight by reading useful information on forums and outside forums to improve posting quality.

Nothing seems trivial in any way in this forum mate, although others may see it as trivial in their own judgement. But I personally never take it as a trivial thing because everyone needs effort to achieve what they want, and that effort is how you try to add insight and apply it where you can apply it because motivation is built through the desire of everyone who wants to be better. So I consider nothing seemingly trivial in terms of merit.

Receiving praise or even views and comments after each post is actually very encouraging and shows me that the time I spent researching and developing that particular topic or project was worthwhile. It also helps to dispel any unclear or perplexing doubts and questions. However, I don't think it is necessary for every post to be praised with merits, views, or comments because it may also serve as a way of knowing and learning some crucial things about that specific topic or project. As a result, I will firmly advise all beginners to post constantly and do more research rather than to become disheartened by a lack of views, comments, or merit.

Its just like working for money and you are being paid for the work done and then you are being told the more you work the more the payment and without working there won’t be any payment, you will be motivated to work hard everyday so you can earn more money. Earning your first merits can be a huge motivation the feeling is actually pleasing and you wouldn’t want the feeling to stop. I was merited with my first post though when I joined this forum I wanted to understand bitcoin technically, i was not after the merits i just tried to engage myself in discussions and ask questions about things i wanted to learn more about and I noticed there is a special feeling when you receive merits.
Ranking up maybe challenging but merit hunting shouldn’t be your purpose on the forum, just try and make reasonable contributions to the forum and the merits will flow in naturally when someone admires your post or contributions.

Definitely they do, everyone feels this sense of pride and honor whenever they feel they have done a thing or two and people acknowledges them, this gets them going and that is what the merit is for.
One advice I would be giving is do not get carried away in trying to get them but learn and create a purpose why you are here and allow them to come through by themselves. But once you are obsessed on getting them it leads you to making mistakes and if they don’t come you get frustrated and lose interest in the forum.

Well, it's always nice to get merits but it was in my case, and I think in most people's case, it was more motivating at the beginning, when I was in the lower ranks. Now that I'm at the highest rank that can be reached, it's always nice to see that you've been given merits but the feeling is more monotonous, more routine.

By the way, what you should start doing is to send merits yourself, I see you haven't sent any.

that means you have the motivation to get a better rank. stay on your path, and soon you too rank up.
you know what you have to do, and don't get complacent. You can also continue to help this Merit system run well by distributing your sMerit. there's no point in you keeping it.
keep it up. maybe in the future, you will feel very bored. but hopefully, you can still be in the forum.
