It's an issue of counterwallet that the signed message is still not compatible with bitcoind. I recalled reading it the other days that someone had reported it. I just also reported it to make sure they are aware of it and have it fixed soon.

For the mean time, use / sign an address from bitcoin-qt or compatible to get the giveaway.

Hi, I just tried to do this with my new counterwallet and could not get it to work.  It seems that the 'signed message' that counterwallet returned (I chose the Base 64 Encoded (Bitcoin-QT Compatible) one) is not a valid signature.  I tested it too with bitcoin-qt and it didn't verify.

I tried the faucet again just using bitcoin-qt to sign and it worked fine.

Counterparty web wallet is now live https://counterwallet.co .

Open https://counterwallet.co , pick an address, and sign the message from the web wallet, it can't get easier than this. Still have plenty of XCP to giveaway !

Not only do ppl on the list get 0.2 XCP, GLaDOS has been giving away 200 CAKE shares to everyone each as well, and he just paid another 0.167 XCP or so for ppl holding those shares using the dividend distribution protocol in Counterparty network. This is the beginning of Crypto 2.0 that we are talking about.
...

and not only that, but for now this faucet is sending out more BTC than some BTC faucets.

Is a multibit wallet OK?

The bitcoin blockchain is a bit too big for me to download.

Multibit is good to receive Xcp. You can then export / import private key to xcp compatible wallets later, bitcoind, or jah lightweight wallet once it's ready

You can store XCP in any bitcoin wallet. As long as you control the private key.
However, to send them you would need to use the Bitcoin-QT+Counterparty client or wait for the web wallet (2 more weeks).

Do we have to use a bitcoin wallet installed on our computer to use the faucet?

The faucet says sign message "Counterparty A DISTRIBUTED FINANCIAL MARKET"

Does that mean we cannot use a bitcoin address from Cryptsy or some other exchange?

Sorry for the noob question. Counterparty is completely new to me.

right, you need to own the private key of the address in order to send XCP. If I send some giveaway to an address in a shared wallet service, you won't be able to transfer it out. Blockchain.info wallet is fine.

I'm pretty cool with sock puppet accounts most of the time but I don't have enough to feed sock the entire population puppet farmers. A few of them are alright, everybody does that, 10 probably not Wink.

Since we are still on 0.8 and have to stick with multi-sig, a the current market price, the cost of sending is about 15 cents, where 7 cents are ended up on receiver address, as of now I'm giving out 0.2 XCP (worth of $0.9) to make it sensible comparing to the fee. So you get $1 each, better than most shitcoins giveaway ever. Please don't abuse it.
