So if this community has 1 person left who gives a shit, do this:

1.  Go to wmikrut.com, ask him nicely to add globalcoin as a pool, promise to keep hash on it all the time, and send him a small bounty to say thanks.

2. Go back to Cryptopia, send a message to Sa_daam through the help system. Tell him sorry, we screwed up. We're working on it. Promise him you'll put up a new permanent node, tell him that WMIkrut might add you, and offer a small bounty in Globalcoin to help Cryptopia through the pain.

3. If a new pool comes up, mine it.  If the exchange comes back, use it.

i will host another perminant node (it is on the right chain) and put up a pool for GLC if people are interested (PPLNS 1%). just let me know if you are interested. node will be up a bit quicker than the pool. i was running a GLC node a while back but i took it down cuz i moved.

i can also edit the code a bit so it fixes some of the sync problems if you guys wanna throw some coin (glc or btc or whatever) to do it. but to push to the devs repo i would need them to confirm the code merge and it would require them to come back to the thread to do it. i could fork the repo, that is another option too

just comment in the thread if you want me to do either of these things. if there is interest ill give it a go

edit: you may also PM me about this if you feel so inclined to do so

I have not had any issues personally. I know others have complained that they lost out due to mining the losing side of a fork but that other chain has not created a block in well over a month last time I checked. When it was creating blocks there were large gaps (weeks) of no blocks on it. It never seemed (to me) to be a huge issue but I knew some would complain and since some of the exchanges were on it a mess was created. I personally thought someone would take advantage of this in some way but the market is so small it didn't really matter.

Here is a list of good peers:

addnode=167.114.103.43
addnode=216.177.81.87
addnode=46.164.133.3
addnode=78.250.193.138

Also, https://chainz.cryptoid.info/glc/ is updated and working on the winning chain.

I suppose the biggest complaint is that people are saying the client is not choosing the correct chain for them. I suggest syncing from scratch. There is nothing inherently broken with GLC since it is basically a copy of the LTC code base from some time ago. It just has not been updated to the latest revision. Would not be too difficult for someone to do that but at this point I don't see it as absolutely necessary and I don't believe it would have avoided this situation. The real issue is the small hasrate and the fact that anyone could fork the chain with little effort.

These are just my personal observations. I don't have much financial motivation either way. I have resisted commenting since I don't much care but something came over me. Smiley

I think it already died a year ago. We just keep putting it on life support but with Cryptopia pulling the plug, and the return so freaky low well that might be the end of one of the best.

I suggest to create a donation fund and hire a freelancer to fix the things as someone said itt. Or just let this coin die peacefully.  Undecided

People didn't just choose to mine the wrong chain. I had all the nodes under the sun in the list including the ones on the exchanges and the wallet did what it wanted.

This. I didn't even notice the fork until several days, maybe even weeks, after it had happened. I'm running 50+ coin clients so I give them a look in every now and then, but I don't have time to constantly babysit them.

The wallet code is obviously not robust enough to have been able to automatically resolve the fork shortly after it happened. Out of all of the altcoin clients I've tried, none seem to have a way of detecting an unresolved fork, and alerting a human that manual action needs to be taken, so they just continue on as if nothing is wrong...
