After 2-3 days, the GLC will be added to the exchange yobit.

And how you see it? network has hashrate in ~ 10 mh/s. The small growth rates price and coming the Chinese guys with scrypt Asic and they organize the fork for globalcoin.

This history is repeated many times with other POW coins. As a result, they have moved to the POW + POS or only POS. If not then they simply disappeared from the market.

Perhaps I shouldn't comment since I don't know more detail...but I remember reading somewhere of some serious problems with POS. Don't remember what it was but did make a mental note to avoid POS from what I read.

If securing the network is important I would look more at AuxPOW over POS....that or research POS in more detail to ensure it does not have some fundamental flaw.

Edit:
For me personally POS would be the most financially beneficial...but we need to look beyond personal gain and do what is best for the coin. Cheesy

Looks like it halved again, only 1.5625 reward per block now, that is too low for anyone to waste their electricity mining this thing, and with no exchange to even trade on I am sorry to say my absolute favorite coin that I have mined since day one appears to be finished. What a shame. The lower tier Altcoin business has really taken a hit with the Cryptsy failure. Many of the coins that had healthy markets on Cryptsy have seen much of their value evaporate even if they were on other exchanges.

It's all because the developers do not want to use the POS for this coin. If POW award becomes low, and the price for the coin junk, then no one would waste electricity on the mining. So it's a dead end.

Not necessarily. As long as someone, anyone, mines the coin is still alive. The difficulty will adjust to maintain the coin specs based on the hashrate. It's only when absolutely no one mines that the blockchain stops until someone starts again.

So far that has not been a problem. The blockchain has been going fine for the most part as far as I can tell. Now I haven't really looked into it much but there is at least one pool with constant hashrate on this coin so it will not die as long as that is the case.

Good there is a website but on page one of this thread the weblink is dead. We need to get that changed to this working link.

Globalcoin was rejected previously on Cryptopia because there was no website.

In order for a cryptocurrency to be hosted on Cryptopia it needs to satisfy the following requirements:

1.Open Source & listed on GitHub
2.No pre-mine, or justified pre-mine prior to launch.
3.No ICO or IPO prior to launch.
4.Official Website.
5.An established community

Right now #4 is a problem.

I agree Globalcoin is a great coin and has a long history but it is in desperate need of an exchange with the collapse of Cryptsy. No market means no coin.

We need another exchange for this coin, we can't let it just fade away. It's a great coin.

LoL ... makes you think if some insiders ain't timing such things Wink

Wonder if we could peg the price to another coin that trades.

So you buy sell the other coin.  And GLC core community members honor a swap.

We are very sorry for removing glc , wallet is not synching and crashing all the time , causing problems to all other markets  Sad

psomas2,

If you need help let me know. Did you compile from the source here:

https://github.com/CryptoParts/GlobalCoin

Add this node to sync: 216.177.81.88
I compiled from that source and used a big list of nodes i found in this thread.
Wallet syncs normal in about 4-5 hours but it crashes while running.

Hmm, I use 1.5.3 on my Ubuntu daemon. Perhaps try to compile from the source up to Mar 22, 2015? I think after that date the changes for 1.5.4.1 started. I have seen 1.5.4.1 hang up here and there syncing the blockchain on the QT side using Windows.

Have never tried running the QT client on Ubuntu as I don't use the GUI version of Ubuntu.

Edit: I can provide you with the compiled version of 1.5.3 I use on Ubuntu...but of course realize that is not a desirable situation for an exchange.
