In the VNL fan club here.  It's not a direct Bitcoin clone, it has a good develop behind it, there's been a lot of work going in to the technology, it's compatible with Bitcoin RPC to aid development, zero-confirmation transactions imminently and it just got picked up on Chinese exchanges and has seen 50% boost in exchange in last couple of days.  POS and iOS/Android staking wallets.

NXT (Has the most potential)
Monero (XMR) (for anonymous needs...like deepweds)

Anything else will die out, and is obsolete. I see people saying BTS, please learn economics, that is a scam and highly inflationary.

Same as Dogecoin is a hyperinflated crap.

The good ones to I may add BURST, it is similar to NXT but it is hard-disk mined, which is very innovative and enviroment friendly, might wanna check out that, i`m keeping it in watchlist if anything exciting happens over there. Although i havent invested in BURST yet:

Also VTR has some nice innovation too, it offers paid torrenting, i`ll invest in that soon:

Only Qora has shown promising innovation till now (decentralized web hosting, blog posts, social capabilities etc http://qora.co.in:9090), so i'd go with Qora.
But it's also a clone.

No: it was coded from scratch.

I am holding clams. I am hoping the price remains stable around the 0.01 btc mark. A few months ago, i never would have thought it would hit these dizzying heights. When it rose, i felt it would be a quick P & D, but clam seems to have surprised me! I know there is no real practical use for them besides playing with them on JD, but that's just it. JD has a cult following and a community that is willing to go ahead and push the coin higher and hence i am staying invested in it for a year! I am smartly selling my profits off investing after it crosses a certain threshold, so that i don't lose these profits in case it comes crashing down!

GetGems ofcourse, why? Because aside from rapidly innovating, it's the only project with potential of succeeding in adoption outside of the dark crypto scene.

Check here their latest work of introducing 65 million users to Coinbase.

What alts do you see making it in the next year?

Been pushing CannabisCoin.  I like what they're trying to achieve.  Needs a good team behind it tho...

DigitalNote is the easiest coin I've used.  The developers have done an excellent job.  You can even mine right from the wallet, so it's super easy to download, mine a few coins, and test its features; like secure messages and deposits.

NINJA, Equinox, Pharma, Tron

Are you joking or is there a new Equinox coin?

The last one was an ICO scam that burned a lot of people here. This is what the dev changed the first page of the announcement thread to after he had pulled his scam, although the mods have now removed it and the thread has been locked.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.9462939

This is what the dev changed the topic title to after his scam. You notice it still says "Don't invest in ICO shit, idiots...".

The dev didn't only scam people, he continued to post in his scam coin's thread afterwards, constantly ridiculing people for falling for his scam and boasting about what he was blowing their money on.

I see NXT and Monero on the top of the Alts for the upcoming year. And, of course, most of the superNET coins like BitcoinDark, Vericoin and VPNCoin.
