The asshole of the internet. SomethingAwful forums.

Could've sworn they were anti-eBaum's World back in the day, and thus my heroes; what happened to them?

They basically became anti-everything, with the entire purpose of the forums to just make fun of everything and everyone. It just gets more pathetic when they make fun of things they don't understand. For example, they have entire threads dedicated to Bitcoin, where all they do is claim it's a stupid internet currency, because it's a ponzi or a scam, because it's all digital, because it's traded on a kid's game card exchange, and because of other stupid things like it's deflationary/too volatile/you can't buy anything with it. Basically exactly the same kind of idiocy that this guy here is spewing. And trying to discuss any of those points with them is about as effective as trying to discuss economics with a bunch of giggling snotty elementary school kids from "special" class.

The biggest problem of typical Americans with Bitcoin, is their math education is in shambles. This is a fact that can't be changed by just changing their attitude.

Fuck you, Loren Jackass.

I am a proud American. I like things I don't understand, because I learn from them.

EDIT:

"...some mafia guy..."

This idiot doesn't know anything about bitcoin.

"And like every good American, I don't like what I don't understand!"

Unfortunately, that kind of statement doesn't reflect very well on Americans. I guess I am not a very good American ... thank goodness.

Sometimes I feel like America's slogan is "I don't know, and I don't care."
We should be putting THAT on our money.

Honestly, I think this guy is joking. There's no way someone could be that moronic and still be able to dress himself, much less post videos on Youtube.

I watched the whole video and I'm not sure what to make of it to be honest. Yes he clearly has issues with bitcoins but did he have to be so confrontational about it? I mean the bit where he talks about 'some mafia guy' running bitcoin was just stupid,as Bitcoins as far as I can understand is it's decentralised (the very opposite of his mafia, centralised claim) and it relies on P2P tech to keep things running (the miners do the work actually).

I would however not commit all my money into BTC due to the great volatility though so I think his point about asking whether or not having a gold bar or a bitcoin kinda makes sense (but in a misguided way).

Personally my finances are divided up as such (for my current situation):
1.Bitcoins should never be seen as a place to put your savings (Stick to UK FCA regulated banks for this)
2.Bitcoins should be seen as an investment item (as I find this easier to bet on hte value without having to do all that paper work at the banks)
3.Store most of my money in my main account (to pay for everyday living costs)
4.Keep a portion of my money in a 2nd bank account for high risk stuff on the net (such as BTC and selling stuff online)
5.Keep any savings in a tax free ISA account (as interest rates tend to be better)
6.Carry as little cash as possible in person as I have an NFC enabled debit card (plus I'd rather wait 2 seconds rather than a minute for cash to buy something like a cup of coffee)
7.Never buy precious metals (since I don't have a safe place to store it anywhere)
8.Never rely on the internet to produce more than 10% of total income (as I still need to work hard at a conventional job to keep afloat plus the added buffer factor helps too)

Most of my funds however are stored in GBP (or fiat)

This is a good representation of the typical Bitcoin hater.  Cheesy

Willfully ignorant and proud of it. U. S. A. ! U. S. A. !

Stopped watching after 20 secs. If you want to get a point across, talk, don't scream - and do it in a neutral tone. Being on the tip of your toes salivating doesn't help your case.
