See at first when YouTube emerged , it was supposed to be supporting people and share content that people thought was meaningful but unfortunately with the time , they are trying to take the position of Netflix .
The YouTube have started posting very very strict Norms . You can see a person partially naked on YouTube but you cannot see content relates to cryptocurrencies and all that freely.
This is not at all good .
If Google will follow suit , the community will have no choice but to use either other search engines or to use various other options , but at the same time they won't stop sharing the content.
The more they try and limit people, the more will the people go against them , which is not a good thing for the long run..

I don't like how youtube is censoring certain phrases and blocking videos because they mentioned this or that but if they really wanted to ban Bitcoin channels they would.

They are a private company and you wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

The truth is they aren't doing it and appeals like the one of Tone Vays are respected.

There are so many FOMO youtube channels out there that scream "pump" or "dump" every time Bitcoin moves by 5% that we could really live without but they are still here despite their incompetence.

Are you sure about what you have written here? After reading this post I headed for the YouTube app on my phone and when I opened it I searched for some bitcoin related topics and they all showed up. So, how are you sure about what you have written here?

I don't think this is true. Maybe they did, but it's not every channel on YouTube that was shadow banned, maybe they didn't ban Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies on their platform, they just blocked a few channels on YouTube, just like they did before, because I have seen a report like this before, I think that was earlier this year.

dont know bout you but i still see crypto news and recomendations on my stock browser though its not a google chrome  but on google chrome browsers or any related to it might be  .  maybe this was the follow up operation of google to the mass deletion of youtube channel and videos related to cryptos   . this is really a bad news if this continues because no new people cant hear the words of bitcoin anymore  but the faith for bitcoin of existing users are still here and will be more stronger after this

They've once ban advertising crypto before and they can make bitcoin disappear in searches if they want to. Such butthurt like they can really stop the growth of BTC. I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook will play along with them again.
Really? I don't remember this happening at all. Youtube, Twitter, Facebook etc banned crypto at certain points and lifted the bans at other points, but I have never heard of Google doing something like this.

I have always been able to find anything crypto related through Google primarily without any sort of issues. Facebook is focused on their own coin these days which is why they focus less on other cryptocurrencies.

I have seen a title of one YouTube video that says YouTube is trying to shadow ban bitcoin contents. I didn't watched the video because, I thought it's just a clickbait and it happened in the past just this year when they had admitted it's because of the sudden change in algorithm which resulted to wrong deletion of bitcoin contents.

Let's just wait if the actual scenario happens, after all, it's just all reports and rumors until it's proven and witnessed by most of us.

Let us wait and see if this will really be implemented. I hope not and I seriously doubt it will happen, but if they are serious about this and this will really happen, then so be it.

The most probable thing to happen is that some contents pertaining to crypto or Bitcoin will be blocked or limited in terms of reach. So the hammer falls most likely to some cryptocurrency news, technical analyses, and the like, which are mostly half-baked and misleading anyway.

I don't think the basic and the most important information about Bitcoin will be blocked. But if they are, well, Bitcoin cannot be censored. Everybody is aware of that. Not by Google nor by any other entity.

They've once ban advertising crypto before and they can make bitcoin disappear in searches if they want to. Such butthurt like they can really stop the growth of BTC. I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook will play along with them again.

If its really going to keep this way thousands of users again will be registering this forum like what happen last 2017.
It would really be pain in the ass if that thing ever can possibly happen. We know on what are the capabilities of Google but doesnt mean that we would completely stop on here.
Yeah, it can cripple out but doesnt mean that it will surely stop crypto from flying or do stop the adoption.

I dont think so about people on registering this forum if that situation comes but surely people will really find out a away on how to deal up with things.

This is quite misleading, you're telling that google wants to suppress Bitcoin searches, but your link talk about some shitcoin promoters being salty that their videos don't have enough views.

I want my 60 seconds I spent checking those channels back...
Seriously, Dailymail and the other tabloids look like the memories of Sun Tzu compared to the junk I see there.

I assume they were hit because their titles have started to become irrelevant to searches

Did they change the algorithm so that clickbait garbage titles won't show in your results just because they have #bitcoin? Yeah!
And looking at the ones complaining, man, I'm happy they did it!

Every kid that posts craps on youtube starts crying censorship when his crap is not on the first page anymore and his dreams of living a rich life from uploading junk are gone.

This is quite misleading, you're telling that google wants to suppress Bitcoin searches, but your link talk about some shitcoin promoters being salty that their videos don't have enough views. Even if Google really is responsible for that, it's not the same as attacking Bitcoin or all of crypto, they probably get a lot of reports about those channels that promote scams or try to sell trading advises, so they are taking actions. So far I don't remember a single case when some really good channel or video was taken down, it's the shady ones that get hit.

I think this article is an overstatement. It's based on stuff said by a guy who wasn't happy with technical analysis videos being restricted on YouTube. TA is borderline stuff, it's neither science nor scam but something in between. So while I don't think it's great when content is banned, I would not fiercely defend accounts that publish it either.
When I google 'Bitcoin', I don't see 'it's a scam' or something like that on the first page of search results, so I think it's good enough. Hopefully, they won't go as far as changing that. It's May already, so I guess we'll see soon. In any case, they probably won't make the changes before halving due to the lack of time.

Compare rates on different exchanges & swap.
Well, this is more reason we shouldn't be relying too much on centralized platforms. It's actually abit strange how popular crypto personalities rely so much on them and hardly promote the decentralized alternatives. Show me a popular crypto person who consistently promotes cryptocurrency/decentralization and uses decentralized tech more than the centralized ones, and I will show a true believer. He/she practice what he/she preaches and could easily be a really good "leader" in this space.

 Such censorship hardly surprise me.

I don't think they will go that far. If they wanted to really do so, they would have implemented the ban long back. The shadow ban that you're worried about is related to crypto youtubers and their content which is directly related to their other service (Youtube).

I still have no idea why Youtube is going to such lengths to ban crypto related videos which is a shame. Censoring BTC and other crypto related stuff would hurt their revenue which is why I wouldn't worry op.

Google is flipping it's preference in and out of crypto. A universal adoption of crypto could be a threat to its financial policy while crypto ads are one of it's large revenue. Facebook too is doing the same. And as they decided not to take crypto ads, they have been overall hostile to crypto related sites and projects. This is one of the reason why we need a decentralized advertisement and google apps alternative.

This will never happen. Youtube has banned people from posting videos about crypto only because thier videos are too similar to a comercial. But google search results will not change.

The reason why the Youtubers are banned is simple, they are advertising thier products etc. Its almost like tv commercials on Youtube, why would they allow that?

Thats the thing here. They are thinking about their TRP's not bitcoin's. So if you speak from BTC side then its gonna hamper someway other to the community that is involved in crypto currency.

In the first place they are doing it for their self only. Otherwise what harm a popular crypto world can do to these mega companies that I dont understand in the first place ?

In-fact they can get huge revenue from advertiser network if they start to put ads for crypto projects. Already BTC is widely searched term and the adsense can easily display ads related to it over wide crowd.

I thought this already made the past year/s like somehow Google ban crypto ads and seen this one as well on Forbes the last year. I know that would make a big impact but if you really want to know about Bitcoin, there are other browsers and platforms to be an alternative for Google and YouTube. What was really the reason they are banning such information?

To be frank that I was going to point out in my OP itself, however it seems that most of the users are from Google Engine. Im sure if they are using it then it's their favourite one and gives them what they actually want.

I have seen other search engines, when you search a specific term then Google will pull out 100% match with what you searched while other engines will pull out gibberish stuff mostly.

You can see popularity of Google over others with following stats:

Stats Taken from Here

So may be it would be hard to switch and still get that much traffic. Its unworthy to try.
