I'm solo mining and always have been, when you can you may as well right Wink

Yes, Solo mining is the best if you can do it. I'm starting to get stakes on those coins now.

How have you hit 1000+ blocks so far ? Were 1000 of them accepted or were they also orphans ?

My wallet shows that I've had 4,385 transactions and I have 1553.08 coins so that means I've had 2832 orphans.

Fast as you can get internet and I'm using a RAM drive for the data folder. (I hit 1362 blocks so far)
