maybe you can but u need to keep your chips from overheat and also MOSFETS might get too hot.

I think this could be possible.
The board may need to be stenciled on the spare pads with solder paste, then the chips could be heated on.
Some shops can xray to check if the BGA chips are installed correctly.

Instead of doing all these crude hacks, why don't you simply read through the source code of the firmware and work out what has an effect first?

now that its stable @ 7.6GH/s I will indeed read up on this

cheers

I tried removing the case and flipping the fan direction and noticed a reduction in temperature (from 40 down to below 30 °C), however I did not notice an improvement in hashrate (it remained between 7.0 and 7.2GH/s)
What did seem to have an influence though was the temperature of the chips when it is powered up.
For example, when it was hashing at 7.15, at 40°C, I powered it off, waited a few seconds, then powered it back up and noticed the hashrate was lower 6.9 GH/s

Someone mentioned that the Jalapenos performs some sort of capability sweep at power up, so I was wondering if starting them from colder may have a positive effect.

So I chilled the Jalapeno in the freezer for about 20 minutes (unpowered), took it out and then powered it up as usual - this time it was hashing 7.6 GH/s - and has continued to do average this for the last 36 hours. I am now to afraid to try the process again in case it was a one-off fluke power up state of the chips that  I may never see again  Smiley

so in summary for me (recent 7GH model)

1. the fan trick did not provide any noticeable hashrate increase, but brought the operating temperature down lower.
2. There is a slight possibility that powering up the Jalapeno from a lower temperature may provide a higher chip operating setting. YMMV

Ah, they look bigger

I wonder if replacing the fans voids the warranty.

Fans are 92 mm low profile on the jalapeño as standard.

are those 120mm or 140mm fans?

I'm wondering if water-cooling the Jally would be over-kill?

That's great news. But at this velocity, I'll get mine in 2015...

I'm right there with you, man.  Undecided

Hopefully things start gaining momentum. It does seem to be going that way; lots of these things starting to show up in the wild.

I recomend you stop thinking about it, hopefully it will surprise you in the mailbox ONE DAY.

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
when you take it apart youll notice the top has screw holes. put the rubber feet on the top, flip the top over and use it as the base.

"Flip top over and put on bottom"

Could you clarify this bit please? What did you exactly do? Smiley

Are ฿itcoins Radioactive?
That's great news. But at this velocity, I'll get mine in 2015...

The Jalapeno case doesn't allow for a lot of good air flow.
When running out of the box I was getting 5.8 - 5.9 when it first started mining and then dropped to 5.6-5.7 Gh/s after it warmed up. Soto increase air flow I did the following:

Getting 5.9 - 6.0 Gh/s now

Nice work. Looks much happier "out in the open" like that with plenty of room to breathe.

No wonder singles are still MIA.

They probably need to machine out a whole side before the chips will be able to "breathe" enough and that's only with *2* chips in.

Skeptical post is skeptical.

A bunch of people have received Jalapenos now.

35 on this list: http://bfl.ptz.ro/

Please dont accept this information as fact...

1) the information submitted is 100% honor system
2) I have been marking them as delivered based purely on the order dates that have been submitted by matching up what BFL_Jody says compared to what some random person on the internet claims they ordered and when.
3) people frequently put fake orders in showing them ordering 50 mini rigs.  I just delete those, however, if somone was just putting what looked like a reasonable order in, I would have no way to verify it and would just add it.  It is entirely possible that some of these orders are not real.

If anyone see's any errors / problems with this data, please PM me and I'll correct it.

With as much BFL haterade gets drank around here, I wouldn't be surprised if half of those "orders" were faked. Not to mention that there's no way for people to update their information indicating their orders have been received.
