Well time to move on and learn from this lesson. What goes around comes around, so I don't think his fortune will live long and he won't enjoy it.

He's posting as a girl to throw people off,

he uses a Greek sounding ID to make you think he's Greek.

He's in Illinois, chances are, in Chicago.

Get the mailing address, and all will come to light.

It will be him, someone he knows, or it will lead you to him.

Tran, I checked the listing on Ebay, and reported it to Ebay for non-compliance,

ironically for accepting BTC as payment. Looking at his feedback, you can see he tried to scam someone on the 17th.

Try contacting the users in his feedback, to get a return address or mailing address. Tell them the truth or lie, say you have a return

and can't get hold of the seller, and would like his address. Once you have his address, it might or might not be his home or place of

business, but you'll be one step closer to a name and face. That guy seems to be a real piece of shit.

I can see thedarkdad3 is on bitcointalk right now, probably reading this thread.

PS his ebay info says he's in Illinois.

THIS IS A MAJOR FLAW of BtC

Ffs people, if you're not dumb and trade with trusted people or use escrow, nothing bad happens. This is not a major flaw, this prevents scamming via chargebacks. Nothing stops someone from taking your cash irl and running off, so in real life situations Bitcoin will be fine.

Sorry for your loss, though.

To be honest even in real life situations it's not regulated.

Say person A meets person B at a casino. Person A transfers 1BTC to person B and person B gets up and walks out the door, what does person A do?

This is obviously an extreme case but not at all impossible.

Pretty much. There is no magic situation that excuses you from being responsible with your money. If you are, it's unlikely you'll get scammed. If you're not, it's likely you will. It's that simple.

It's great that you're able to acknowledge your mistake, OP. Cut out the "BTC has a flaw therefore!" nonsense and you'll stand a better chance of learning so as to prevent this sort of thing from happening again.

Here is a bit of a blog I wrote after my own incidents

http://goo.gl/IsPpHW

To update, as a buyer I was not protected either (was playing an experiment with Paypal and eBay).

They refunded money to the fraudster buyers of my bitcoins, and if I tried to make a claim against someone, it seemed that Paypal and eBay would favour the liars as well. Over eBay and over Paypal.. Bot rubbish

So, stupid me just got scammed on Ebay. I just want to put this out for everyone to save people from making the same mistake as I did. I knew it was too good to be true and I should have listened to my own advice.

The Ebayer name is ykourakis89
He/She is selling a 60 Gh/s BFL on ebay. It may look legit, but beware! he only accept bitcoins and once you send him the money, he'll stop responding and contacting you. This is a link to his ebay account.
http://www.ebay.com/usr/ykourakis89
The picture may be a girl, but on the invoice, it's a guy....
Sent him 1.7 btc so that he would initiate the transfer order through BFL lab, but once I did that, he stopped contacting. Definitely going to try to report him on ebay, but i don't think it'll have much luck with the whole bitcoin thing. THIS IS A MAJOR FLAW of BtC in my opinion (I acknowledged it was dumb of me to not use escrow in the first place..)

proof of transaction.

Also, I just found that through a listing of his (he put up a Radeon on both Ebay and Bitcoin talk) that he is indeed thedarkdad3
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/thedarkdad3-148368
So a member of the bitcoin community is scamming people for bitcoins. just perfect... this is why bitcoin will never become mainstream because there's too much way for people to get scam.
(Start from the bottom)

Dear ykourakis89,

OMG!!! nooo, I already sent the transaction. You can't seriously tell me that now after demanding me to transfer the btc. wow, I can't believe I just got scammed again... are you kidding me???.... I already sent the money

Dear ykourakis89,

You're pretty clear and I understand your concern about getting scammed and that's why I asked if you want to use btcescrow, because that's pretty safe service. The whole bitcoin community uses it, you do know that, it protects both the buyer and the seller and the transaction gets processed extremely quick. There is no refund, once i said the transfer is done then the transaction is finished. I can't get a refund!
I know you don't want to get scam, but look at it from my point of view, I don't want to get scammed either. You're expecting me to take all the risk and pay the total in BTC upfront, would you do that?
I have a proposal, how about i give you 1.4 BTC (a deposit, half upfront) and you initiate the transfer on BFL. Just initiate, it doesn't complete till you accept it back. Then once you initiate and i see that you do have an order, then I will transfer another .7 BTC (1/4) and once the transfer is complete, i'll give you the rest. That way, you will have most of the money upfront. Does that sound fair?
If you agree, I ask that you offer the BFL to me on ebay and i'll accept it, but once its done, you can cancel the order and you won't have to pay the final value fee.
