New orders are immediately queued in a FIFO queue -- which is a very cheap operation.

They are then taken out of this queue, and matched in the orderbook.

When this queue is very long, there is a considerable delay between submitting your order and, that order getting matched, so it can appear that (for example) the market price is well bid at $150 , you submit a 'sell at $130$ order, and then you see the market trade at $100, your order not executed.

Gox need to indicate WHEN there is a fast-market , and ideally estimate and publish the lag.

I placed a couple of orders while it was lagging last night, they appeared straight away in the web interface but when refreshing it tries to fetch your current orders again and it took forever, like they didn't exist.

Everyone who's hitting these issues, what does your history look like? Is there any indication as to when your money vanishes?

for me, there's a btc withdrawal on btc-e, blockchain shows the transaction at 35 confirmations, but no corresponding credit to the gox account.  it would have hit around the time mtgox was down (for the second time, about an hour after resuming trades).

anyone have insight on this?  it was a relatively small amount but it does make me realize the level of trust we're placing in a company against whom we have no legal recourse.

Seems you got the financial 'hair cut'.

i've never been in a position to receive a financial haircut before. truly, i have arrived.  Cool

Tell it to people who deposited more than $10000 on them. If you're not verified leaving Gox is extremaly time consuming.

Then take your coins out. Exchange your fiat then exchange it back again in a different exchange. THEY STOLE MYY MONEY!

i was just noticing the same thing.  Undecided

They stole your money too?

We must get the word out. Gox is downright stealing money. Not lagging. Not manipulating. STEALING.

something definitely happened, i need to look at my notes which are at work. i believe they just haven't credited a BTC deposit.

Gox being offline is very unnerving. Only the worst comes to mind... close up shop, disappear with the loot. Hope I'm wrong.

And sell all those bitcoins where?   Wait for some one to start up the Blood Wars Online Xchange?

Service up and running. My money? Coins? Dollars? Nowhere.

Take your bitcoins and run people. These guy are outright stealing them now. Keep them in your walet. Go to another exchange. Put them into a paper wallet and hide that under your bed. DO SOMETHING.

I had a SELL order at $150
I had a BUY order at $100 for 1.5 times as many coins.

Where are the coins?

GONE.

Where is the USD?

GONE.

WTF??

This is why you shouldnt use LIMIT or STOP LOSS orders or any other automated order system. Make the trades yourself

Yea, make the trades manually on 5 minute lag, sounds legit.

Conspiracy Theory Time:

Remember how the price was constantly going up while Gox was down?

Thats because Gox was buying/stealing coins.

Their goal is to constantly bounce the coins, selling at $150+ and buying at $100 or lower so they can constantly accumulate more coins while keeping the price above $100. Perhaps why they made commission $0, because they were making so much this way anyways?

But people, (like me) tried to do the same thing, so they shut the thing down, wait for everybody to panic, then start over again.

They profit off of uncertainty while they accumulate more and more bitcoins to perpetuate the volatility more and more.
