Hail Eris!
So a little update.  Our distributor upped the price of Asus cards due to the high demand, so I dropped them and put in an order for 80 Gigabyte R9 280X cards.

So... you mean that ... you did not actually have a deal set up when you told investors about your plans?

No, when you place an order at an American distributor and it's on back order they apparently can change the price from what you initially were told to pay all the way up until the date it ships.  I had a pretty heated argument with a manager today over all of it.

Fair enough.  I can understand how annoying that would be.  By the way you gain respect and status in my book by having a web presence to answer questions like you are doing right now. Thank you for tolerating our complaints while taking some action to fix things.  I would be scared and hiding by now myself. Tongue

I suspect more heated arguments to come. you had better get used to this type of thing as GPUCoin store front grows

I'm fairly certain they came up with this entire idea overnight because it shows. However the bigger problem is who wants 280x's? And did they really just claim to have ordered 80 of them? Now, it sounds like to me they just suckered people into buying them 80 GPU's that they will sell back to you for whatever your coins are worth. This could get worse...

That looks swell

LOL. Because all that is needed for people to invest is pretty pictures. You don't even know the prices yet.
typical troll... move on, IPOs need this type of information to track business expenses

I want R9 290's (non-x) myself. The 280x series suck.

Ok, I have decided to not be angry anymore.  It just does not do much good and is not effective.

I should practice compassion - the owner is likely in way over his head and not thinking about things such as the appropriate way to interact with investors and customers.  We all have different skill-sets we are born with and acquire through life. I make mistakes myself and understand how hard it is to make changes and admit we are wrong when we become mindful of our mistakes.  I am actually starting to feel bad because I understand that this must be very difficult for him.  Everyone deserves compassion.

I am still going to invest in the IPO because the business model, although flawed since it is a new thing, is revolutionary and will really lead to a sustainable and growing coin market.  Not many other coins actually have a mechanism which injects money into the coin in a sustainable manner.  If I can I will actually increase my investment.

I hope this works out.  The best of luck to Jaymes and GPUCoin.  Let us turn our minds, take action, and inject some positive energy into this situation.

Was the original launch scrapped or was there a technical issue?

That is kind of funny... I skimmed through the IPO e-mail, expecting something along the lines like: "mistakes were made" or "I'm sorry you feel disappointed". Huh, guess this guy actually did graduate the CEO-school and has learned to avoid such excuses. Well, that's nice, let's see if he can launch a coin. Grin

Not really sure about this one, but does the number of pages in a thread add some statistical value like popularity or something like that with bitcointalk or search results? If not, then after the upcoming successful launch, can we have a fresh thread.... a big chunk of the 200 pages is "when is relaunch", haters be hating and IPO panics.

A new thread moving on with the planned agenda... Exchange announcements, GPU purchases, fancy wall-e rig frames, prices skyrocketing and all that good stuff   Grin

Doomed to see the future and unable to prevent it
TL:DR

Setup miners for second launch and just walked back in, second launch failed?

Pool has zero coins and says everything is locked down, workers are even gone from account?

Waiting for the third launch or is it the fourth or fifth? Yes, third launch coming this Sunday and if that fails, well read upwards.

WTF, Thx man. Smiley

If the coin doesn't launch by Sunday then let's make it happen as a community. I'm well equipped to handle the code and get everything compiled nicely. I have a large server (16x) infrastructure already in place to create the backbone. I've estimated an entire day to get everything done and up smoothly.

All we need are the parameters...

Let me know if there is any interest in this.

I think this is a great Idea.  I have mentioned to the CEO a few times to get the community involved to try and get rid of some of the bad press.  If it fails again you should do this.

I do not agree with this in principle if it means more premine for IPO investors... that said if the CEO wanted to kick in more of his 75mil then that's his prerogative, but I would not expect it or ask him to do that.  I know we are all greedy bastards at heart but this coin has to look attractive to the non IPO community if its going to have any real value.

Remember, just because you can buy GPU's for it, the GPU's must be bought from a vendor, and they probably only accept cash or at best Bitcoin... so the cost of any Graphics Card in GPU coins will be based on their BTC exchange rate.

Goddamn DEV better start compensating the community for all the lost friggin time on the failed launches!
