I thought the quantity limit was supposed to be removed a week after the store opens? If Jaymes is waiting for the last of the 240s to go before ordering the next batch, it would be wise to remove the limit.

The problem with a cryptotrader-based market is that cryptotraders tend to look at coins exclusively as property and almost never as currency. A lot of people would be glad to spend their GPUcoins to buy old yet still functional mining hardware from other people (on the cheap, of course), but cryptotraders are so focused on playing the market that they fail to see the benefit and potential profitability of offering merchant support to the coin themselves.

Update:
There have also been three murders this last week, so I now have 2 jobs and have moved her out of Lake Edwards, VA Beach.
Police are investigating two separate killings in the same Virginia Beach neighborhood hours apart.

The first shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. Friday in the Lake Edwards subdivision, where police found two men on the 5900 block of Margate Avenue suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Virginia Beach Police spokesman Lonnie Cain.

One victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other is currently in stable condition.

The second shooting, around 5 a.m. Saturday, was on the 700 block of Barrison Way, according to Cain. The victim in that shooting, a male, was pronounced dead at the scene.
and on this depressing note you've killed the rest of the chat lol

In many ways Jaymes has done a good job with the business.  He's done what he said he'd do when he said he'd do it which is a lot better than what could have been.  The coin was poorly designed though.  In hindsight this is obvious; it wouldn't be in single satoshi range if parameters had been chosen properly for the likely market cap it would have.  We have to do what it takes to get the price up to at least 20 sat otherwise it's of little use in commerce.

For the business and the coin to succeed it can't be selling cards at a loss just to boost coin demand.  Not exactly a sustainable business model...  Not to mention the fact that the market is so weak Jaymes can't even turn the GPUC back into fiat.  Once these cards are sold, there will not be more.  That's the end of the coin unless Jaymes wants to use his personal funds to buy cards, sell them at a loss and then not even be able to turn what he gets back into fiat.  Seems unlikely to me.

I personally have used hardware I'd like to sell and there's always TONS of stuff being sold on BCT and ebay by miners looking to trade.  These people are already crypto friendly, we just need to have a place where they can post a classified for payment in GPUC.  Having escrow provided by GPUCoin will be an extremely important perk for these sellers.

The GPUCoin market is a nice start but it needs to have category based navigation (something like http://www.bitcoinclassifieds.net/ but better).  It needs to be able to nicely hold hundreds of used hardware listings with easy navigation.  Right now 4 listings fill the page and there's no hierarchical nav.  The 'market' should probably be the default page instead of 'store' and those links should be renamed somehow.

If this existed, we would have something that would be easy to promote on BCT and elsewhere.  Without it we're just waiting for the inevitable.

This. Mostly the market, I for one know that at someday, whether I want to or not, unforeseen circumstances may arise and I may have to sell part/all of my mining gear. It would be awesome if when that sad days comes I could easily sell on GPUCoin Market, get myself some GPUCoin and stay in the cryptomarkets for awhile with the coins I acquire (or sell back to GPUcoin bank Grin). Just a thought when writing this, if there was an option to 'trade' the hardware too - and perhaps have GPUcoin to cover the cost difference - this would be a good way for one to upgrade their setups. Who knows, the store could do much more than has already been mentioned on this thread, we won't know until we get there. Smiley

Sorry to hear about the trouble Jaymes.

We are unfortunately suffering from a double whammy here in crypto economics.. bitcoin prices driving down profits, and GPUs under attack from ASICs.. It will be awhile till this market sorts itself out (if it can), and start moving up again..

Cryptos is a risky game, to be sure.. (but then again so is the stock market apparently.. )

I still love the technology.. so i'll still be around plugging away at it. Smiley
I have a lot of experience in the stock market, and yes crypto is just like it.
I have learned to love when the stock market crashes, it is buying stocks on sale.
I have learned to love when bitcoin crashes, I can buy bitcoin on sale.
Then patiently wait, and pray things go back up to normal, and they usually do,
though it could take weeks, months, or years.

Fiat into GPUC:
There has already been a page written up about hot to purchase GPUC with USD

Huh

Have fun finding a link to this page on your site.

Are you disconnected from reality?

You may want to read his post again.  He said it was being worked on, didn't say it was on there already.

Advertising.. getting the business flow going. That should be the only priority until the value of the coin starts going up. More exchanges will just open up more doors to people to dump the coin.

I'm not sure if you do this already, but it may even be beneficial to show a public account of how many cards were sold, when, how much (in USD, maybe even show overall savings) and what they were. This way people hit the site and right away see "wow, BobLover9000 saved 19% by using GPUC to buy his MaxCard5000".

Immediate value up front.

Jaymes, I am sorry to hear about your family issues, but thank god no one got hurt.
We have been tough on you here on the forums, but only because we want to hear
more from you and what is going on. We all have invested a lot of money, time, and
electricity in GPU coin because we believe in it.  I personally have invested in the IPO,
but more importantly $400 of electricity just mining GPU coin.  I do think the store
should have a wider variety of gpus and other hardware, as well as extra attention
to get the marketing/p.r./advertising going strong.  Mintpal would be great, and then
someone mentioned talking to Vern at Cryptsy.  I think you can get a hold of him
at Cryptsy or BigVern on twitter I believe.  However, Cryptsty should be the 3rd priority
after getting on Mintpal and having effective advertising constantly going.

Yeah I don't get that either, you're going to show up to his door because the business is slowly dying ?

To get some answers thats all, if dude is out, and not going to bother, let us know so we can go about our business and put the coin into the graveyard.

We are assuming now since Micryon hasnt heard back from him, waltsmith has gone off the reservation, etc.al that hes done.. For all of us with loot stuck in this coin we need to know.

Wow, yeah. I watch a movie with the kids and then go to bed and I'm 'Off the Reservation' lol

Get back on the reservation Walt!!!! Wink

You realize you'd make more money mining another coin for profit, than it would cost in gas to do that? If you're that concerned, I suggest moving to a profitable coin.

Update:
This last week has had my attention drawn quite away from this coin, as some important real world issues have come into light.

It's been suggested many times that you hire someone or several folks to handle the bulk, and let you simply oversee. Your lack of web attention--regardless of the altruistic reasons--has severely damaged the coin's critical launch evaluation, which is typically the first 30 days.

Mintpal:
My mining rig (a measly 5Mh) is currently dumping all it's profit into the Mintpal vote and I used the last of the BTC left over

No worthwhile coin should have to buy votes to get on an exchange. Have you talked to Vern at Cryptsy?

Exchange aside, the frontend needs sales and flow.

Also, I am still voting multiple times a day on Mintpal.  And you need to get some other items on the store to draw buy interest in the coins.  A lot of people are not buying GPU's now (miners at least).
