you need to use the setx command for max gpu threads and watnot first

And I know the pool url is correct.

Example bat file for config file only.

have you tried guiminer-scrypt-adaptive-n? point the client to the cgminer located in the root folder, then setup your .conf, always works for me.
ps. you can find the guiminer download in the vertcoin thread
