seriously, would you go to all this trouble just to get a gpu  (if you were not already into crypto's) ?

If the savings were decent (15-20%), likely yeah, as long as it was as simple as $->Coinbase->GPUC. I don't use this coin personally though, if I want GPUs I buy Amazon gift cards at 20% under market value, and then buy off Amazon at or below MSRP and get a super discount.

This.. people need simplest way possible to convert $ into GPUC directly..

What I described is the simplest legal method. The owner of the company can't do it himself without crossing into new tax boundaries and more, much more, regulation overhead. If he wants to commit suicide, then  yes he could.

Thanks, I might give it a try.  If you want to run it a little easier, I am getting 490kh from mine but not running as hard at that.  I am at Engine 1130, Memclock 1250, TC 5121.

270's are amazing. My group has them running 495-500 solid with 0 HW errors, some of my folks even have them 510-520kh which is nuts awesome. So far, MSI has shown to be the most stable brand. Sapphire/Gigabyte has been a mix. The TOXIC 280X is also great, if you don't mind doing some tweaking to the bios, you can run it 750-780 at 175-200watts. Out of the box it'll do 805-820 @ 320-350w.

I've been mining this coin continuously since launch with my Asus R9 270x, only have about 180k coins.  I settled on buying the 270x as my old Radeon 4890 was not cutting it for games anymore, but was really looking at a 280x when prices were sky high.  I bought the 270x at $240 off amazon and then promptly lost my job the next day.  First few days I spent mining random coins until I found the announcement that this coin would be launching soon.  I spent the rest of the time making sure my card wasn't a dud, it kept giving me artifacts on the desktop for a few days, but finally settled down and only firefox/palemoon show artifacts, but from what I have read that is due to the browser itself.  I would love to see this coin become profitable, it just feels like a good concept

If you happen to be running the 14.x beta catalyst drivers they are solid but do cause artifacts on desktop and in browsers. Known bug with the driver. I'm only running them cause I have the THIEF game that uses the mantle API and boy does it offer a performance increase!!!

waltsmith

I am running 13.12

I found a config for regular scrypt that the 270x can hit 500kh/s stable, I just can't get it to translate to scrypt-n, best I get is 230kh/s which is 20kh/s lower than I would like, but I'll deal with it.  I also found a workaround to driver crashes/low hashrates.  Device Manager > disable adapter and then re-enable it and your low hashrate should go back to normal once you reload vertminer/cgminer/sgminer.

I am fairly new at this mining stuff and wish I had gotten into mining back when Bitcoin launched when I first heard about it.  I attempted it, but at the time felt it was just too difficult and dropped off.  I think, at the time, Bitcoin was worth $0.10.  I am really kicking myself about that.

I wouldn't mind seeing your scrypt config.  I am getting 480 on my 270's and 490 on my 270x's right now, so pretty close but wouldn't mind a bit more.

I found the config here: http://www.reddit.com/r/dogemining/comments/1yx086/500_khash_with_270x_no_hw_stable/ and tested it, it worked for me, I just don't like running my 270x's memory that high for too long

Thanks, I might give it a try.  If you want to run it a little easier, I am getting 490kh from mine but not running as hard at that.  I am at Engine 1130, Memclock 1250, TC 5121.

Good Afternoon folks,

I read a ton on here but just today created an acocunt so i can intruduce myself.

I started mining in Early January just goofing around with scrypting. Was fun so within a week i purchased 3 Sapphire 7950's, New Mobo, CPU and PSU. It has been pretty much running ever since. I have had a ton of fun with getting the max of of the config but also working on keeping the watts draw down as much as possible.

I started out Mining some other coins but jumped on GPU's since the launch. I have been running GPU's 100% of the time since launch. On top of that i have purchased about 1.5 million on exchanges. I will be sticking with this coin for the long haul.

gaming community and perhaps the college community ....

how would someone get Gpuc .. without knowing about crypto in general .....

Lots of folks in college know what BTC is, at the least. They can use coinbase to purchase BTC with $ instantly, and then simply go to an exchange (or maybe even GPUC store itself) to get GPUC. All of this could be linked in a simple how-to on the website.

The primary link could be "Buy GPUC with $" or something.

Possibly.. people go through alot of trouble to use coupons in grocery stores and its alot of hassle also.  If this posted on slickdeals with a good howto.. it might create a buzz.
my parents may-be (and gpu, cryptos are the least of their concerns), not students

..Wow. People already talking about changing and forking the coin in its infancy. Pathetic. Few of you understand how any of this works.

It's not the coin or the algo or the pantone color of the grey on the website, it's a matter of getting the business to be known and used. Like I said hundreds of pages back, this coin is nothing more than a transaction transport, it doesn't matter of the technical design as much as the flow of the product. If anything, ScryptN hurt more than it helped.

What you need to do, as some folks pointed out, is get the gaming community and perhaps the college community, involved. Let them know they can save a few bucks by using this system. You'll have GPU miners always since the hardware can adapt to any algo, but the volume of that target audience is going to go down dramatically this quarter, and short of something unique occuring, 2014 will see some new algos but no increase of GPU needs over supply.

Watching this project is like being at a most interesting zoo.

Exactly. There's no need for a fork, it's too early for that. The marketing on this coin is pretty much non existent at the moment.

so HiroCoin that has no market place, no nothing behind it buy an X11 Algo - stomps this coin price wise, and will continue to do so for quite a while..  so yeah lets not fork the coin - lets keep trying to get the community going (well that hasnt worked), marketing going (well that hasnt worked), and get it on exchanges (that hasnt worked).

So tell me whats next... lets repeat above?

Hello Everyone,
Thank you for all the thoughts / suggestions.  I assure you that I am reading them and will make sure the CEO hears them.

I just finished up some upgrades to the market place
   - Dynamically calculated pricing (USD->GPUC every 15 minutes)
   - Instant Approval System (sellers can now be authorized to post items instantly)
   - Improved messaging systems (emails go out now + more buttons to message members)

http://gpucoinmarket.com

In regards to marketing, I am with you 100%.  I have been focusing on the web side of things and plan on devoting more effort to that side now that things are up and running.  If you have any interest in helping please PM me.

Usually any coin introduced to poloniex gets pump for a couple of hours (even totally unknown coin: cf Bones), gpuc only met indifference yesterday...

Changing the algo would be good too... My cards don't like at all scrypt-n (runs too hot, easy driver crash...) take something like fugue, heavycoin or groestl Nvidia people will be happy.  Grin

No it won't. With scrypt asics comming into the market, only coins like this can be safe to mine with people with GPU's. Only real issue with the coin right now is it's marketing, or lack of it. That and with the low trading that's trigger by the whole btc market right now, means the coin is dirt cheap.
fugue/heavy/X11/ are not scrypt coin but totally different algo and there is little chance they get implemented in asic (for a while) as only a bunch of coins use them (and the new btc is not among them... I might be wrong though... who knows...)
