It seems reasonable to assume that Pirate's 'counters' never reset on the 10th after payments went out, as that additional amount seems to be close to what I was overpaid.

Pirate, check payments from the 11th. There may be a slight discrepancy. Not to complain, but I was overpaid.
My totals still do not add up and by my calculations, I still owe you mining shares.

+1. I was paid almost DOUBLE what I should make in a day.

This issue could be resolved somewhere in this thread but I sure as hell cant find it, I apologize if it's there:

I would like to setup gpumax and my rigs in a fashion where, they work at gpumax whenever public work is available and to work in P2pool when it is not.
I know how to set them up in fashion where the rigs would try mining at gpumax at first and if it fails then swap to P2pool for X shares... after which try back at gpumax (rinse and repeat)
I think (am not sure) that I however am not able to set up a worker at gpumax without specifying a "failover" pool. Is this possible ? If it isnt could you make it possible? (seems like a very small tweak). Is there something im not taking in to account ?

By default they do public work then fail over to the default pool and that is influenced by the price you place on workers.  There is an option to do private work only (no GPUmax public shares).  I have not seen an option to request your miners to hash elsewhere for a set number of hashes.  Not sure why you would want a worker that didn't have a private pool as backup.

Presumably your fail-over pool is p2p, so I'm not sure what you're after that isn't what you're already doing.

can anyone in short give me an example, why buying hashing power could make sense?
if you pay with BTC, I assume, you just have a deficit.
same with other currencies in theory.

I just don't get the point.

Testing your mining pool's capacity limits for one.  Additionally, some pools pay out in ways that can earn you more if you luck out with timing.

Plus, dollar purchases are coming... BTC purchases were just easier to get started with.

If you don't get it then don't use it.

Simple as that !

You can setup your own VPS with a p2pool node, and set that as your "private pool".
I'm pretty sure GPUMAX won't work with p2pool, even if the p2pool is the backup or offline pool. Have you gotten it working?

Wow, thank you.. I guess the first issue in getting this to work is overcoming my dynamic ip address?
[Edit] The second issue I see is the additional latecy coming from submitting work to gpumax and then back to my p2pool instance, would this hurt my shares badly in P2pool ?
