The "crypto depression" was just the result of a huge media campaign agains crypto, and - actually - bitcoin and altcoins resisted very well.
Of course, it was only a battle in the war against crypto, so you can bet that in the next months will see a lot of "crypto depressions".
But I think that in the end bitocin will win.

It's getting depressing
All the blood in the streets that accompanies the daily ICX tears. Like somebody said, this smells like the time to further load my bags.
No hopeful posts on ICX, only despair and regret lately

I'm more optimistic about this situation. It seems to me that this is a good time to buy coins at low prices. Many do not stand nerves and they sell their coins at a very low price, but I advise you to wait.

It's because the fall of the high bitcoin price, I also got depressed because I hold some bitcoin but after I thought for what depression or panic, most likely bitcoin price will rise again, if I remember the first time I entered the crypto world where bitcoin price at that time is $300 .

DID EVERYONE SURVIVE THE GREAT CRYPTO DEPRESSION OF JAN 2018???
I survived from a great depression caused by my bad decisions, mainly in bad choices of Bounty Campaigns and altcoin investments. I have lost a lot of money from poor choices on investments, in ICOs and sh*t coins. But I have learned a lot about my experiences since then and am now participating in great bounty campaigns and adding high potential altcoins to my investment portfolio.

Interestingly, the total capitalization did not fall to the level that was last year. Yes, we rolled back down, but we kept interest, found new interested people, the crypto currency became even wider. Manipulators crushed the market, but making it as much as possible, at the lowest level, we are still several times higher than last year.

Yes, it's a good analysis.
And don't forget the incredible media campaign against the crypto world, made with the clear intention to manipulate the market and to allow to the "big ones" to buy at cheap price.
We'll see, as you say, next months will be very interesting.

I think crpytocurrency world has seen an interesting 2 months. Here is why from my point of view:

1) Ecosystem has changed dramatically. Regulations are slowly shaping all over the world. Which is good and bad same time.

2) BTC and other altcoins are now immune to bad or negative news. Which means also immune to good news as well. Look at Ripple price: even many good news are coming, it's price is not going up.

3) Lots of people's tie had been cut or given fear to be cut with global trading; such as China, India, Korea...This looks like 1980's era of countries closing their markets against foreign affect.

4) January crash was a real remarkable crash. Lot's lot's of people are now holding without trade because they bought at high. This reduces the daily volume(why do you think the btc transaction fee dropeed?). Now price depends on new buyers until prices recovered to December level; which might take some time.

5) Airdrops, ICO's became attraction point. But these projects need time and investment to mature. Some trash projects might raise big money just because attraction.

The last but not least...World finance system, currency system is started to change; soon our daily lives will start to change as well. This is a transition period. We are witnessing the history.

Crypto depression is coming to an end. This is my personal opinion. I believe that in the coming days, growth will begin, the main task is to overcome the $ 12000 boundary.

Lol, it sounds so terrifying! Come on, I think nowadays people are ready for everything. Sure, that fall of cryptos played on our nerves, but we are ready to move further!

Panic selling is a serious thing. Grin

That's what a lot of people did I think, and the ones who decided to hodl are winning.

When we do talk about "Survive" seems like you are about to die on such depression and this is only for weak hearts and weak hands on where worrying too much on such price decline.I agree that most of is now are ready for everything for newbies who jumped in to those days are already learning on how prices do moves in crypto. If they survive then its good and we should continue further since we do know our past mistakes in those past experiences.

Still alive and try to get some more cheap coins nowadays. Actually this is the best time to buy some crypto in your wallet. I've lost half of my investments since Jan. It's all good not complaining at all. I highly believe that this year will be the best year for the cryptocurrencies.

Lol, yeah OP is being a bit of an all-caps drama queen here.  He must have just gotten in to the world of crypto, because I've definitely seen worse bloodbaths than whatever little dip in the altcoin market we saw in January.   I spent much of that month with the flu and hadn't been paying much attention.

I only follow a small handful of altcoins anyway, like Dash and doge, and they both rebounded fairly well.  Ethereum is still as high as I remember seeing it before the flu hit me.  Anyway my point is that noobs need to gain a little perspective in the market.

Volatility is the norm, and I get the feeling that a lot of members here use that term without knowing what it means.  Volatility means you can get corrections/crashes that are breathtaking.   Much worse than anything you've ever seen in the stock market.   I've seen coins lose 99% in a single day.  Sometimes they recover, sometimes not.

The trick is to pick ones that will--and I don't know the trick, so don't ask me.
