What?! Why would they use NautilusCoin that can hardly be bought anywhere, instead of Bitcoin or even a major Alt?
Makes no sense, seems like it might be either a lie, or an almost uninhabited island, maybe owned by the creator of NautilusCoin

Most likely because some people in the Island have already owned a substantial amount of NautilusCoin Wink

I was also wondering this. I haven't even heard of Nautiluscoin so I dont know why they using it. Why not just stick with bitcoin or use another alt that has buying power

Love it when a plans starts to come together
Unfortunately I do not control the person that made the threat and that why i posted the the reality of the project to make it clear

But what I can say is we tried digital currency on the Island and this is what is happening this year www.athena-agistri.com

This is a historic first I would say isn't it?

Could you please stop misleading people? There is a huge difference between the title of this thread "Greece agrees to..." and the title of the news you quoted "Greek island agrees to..."

And then again there is also a huge difference between "Greek island agrees to..." and "Some idiots in a Greek island agreed to...
"

For those laughing at how this program is starting with only 1,000 residents, look what kind of purchasing power just 62k people can do in Switzerland alone.
[...]

After checking their website, it's not 62k people but 45k small and medium sized companies.
They also provide normal FIAT (that is to say CHF) services for private customers.

For those interested or still on the fence they might read a bit about the WIR Bank and the WIR Franc which is the model for Naut. I think private and decentralized competing currencies are the future which is something Dr. Rand Paul has advocated for years and Bitcoin will not be the end-all digital currency. Competition is a GOOD thing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WIR_Bank

"Although WIR started with only 16 members, today it has grown to include 62,000. Total assets are approximately 3.0 billion CHF, annual sales in the range of 6.5 billion (6.8 billion USD!), as of 2005."

Plus if its successful there is no reason the currency can't spread out from there.

Do you know some people from WIR,begining ofAugust is launching paymentservicewhat is also supporting few complimantary currencys,it works like multicurrency ex,itcouldbe great for merchants and services

Looks like WIR  have long history

Guys/girls: just don't buy into NAUT (or anything) until you actually see it working. Problem solved.

Here's a handful of Drachmae related links:

Overview:
http://www.drachmae.org/

Wiki:
http://www.drachmae.info/doku.php

Drachmae Connect:
http://www.drachmaeconnect.com/

Coinstructors:
http://coinstructors.com/?page_id=42

44 Phones:
http://www.44phones.com/

NXT2pay:
http://www.nxt2pay.me/

I'd like to point out that Drachmae isn't a project from what you could call the NXT core community, it's being run by Brian Kelly and Coinstructors, with support from NXT and SuperNET.
Nxt is all about providing tools to enable projects, and this is an interesting project, which is pushing crypto into mainstream attention.
Do we want the world to use crypto, or not?

BTW:

http://coinstructors.com/?p=72

Thank you for links,i will  register there to promote development designed for price stability, inflation deflation control and half second transaction coin and also new exellent payments service, great for companys individuals and organisation, maybe if will be demand thay can support drachma,if drachma will arrive.Looks like we will know in Sunday

Kodtycoon as evil mastermind ? And a NXT whale ? Finding that hard to believe, tbh.

As you might have noticed:  Price Speculation is the most active thread on NXTforum, because it gets used as a general thread for some reason that is lost in the mists of time.....NXT wierdos  Grin
https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/price-speculation/23960/
Most of the thread has bugger all to do with price speculation, really.

Anyway....back to Greece.

Why you keep telling people not to buy NAUT? Come on Dave, I think everyone should buy NAUT and hold on to it tight. Not for pumping purposes, but to enjoy the ride and feeling like to be part of the project... I think people can start donating as well for the island... There is this dev fund, please donate if you want to help. Cheers.

PS: Once this project take off (CNBC, news, world and wall street will be talking about it), soon, a lot of strong investors around the world will join in NAUT. Can you imagine? They dont easily sell at profit, which will make the price stabilized with a small fluctuation. And market cap will probably compete with top 6 coins... Mark my words. And the project is near! So buy while it is cheap and hold on to it. Dont get tempted to sell... You will regret.

Hmmm....good question, H.
What concerns me, and should concern everyone, is the danger of the Drachmae project getting hyped to a point where people have unrealistic expectations. We've seen it happen with NEM recently: a section of the NEM community massively hyped up the  launch. I saw posts literally promising people $15,000 per NEMstake immediately after launch, which was simply impossible to predict (and very unlikely).
But people bought in on the hype.....and then got disappointed almost immediately when NEM failed to go 'to the mooonnn!' and then got further pissed off with what they see as slow development. There are plenty of other examples: how would Paycoin have developed if Josh G. didn't make the ridiculous claim of a guaranteed $20 price floor ?

Sounds like something Kodtycoon would had written.  The most active thread on NXT's forum is price speculation started by Kodtycoon himself and he has been doing these things for a long time.  Kodtycoon is like the Ryan Pumper of 2.0 projects but Ryan Pumper is smart enough to use "hidemyass", unlike Kodtycoon who gives out his personal info.

https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/price-speculation/

He thinks NXT will hit $100 million, one NEMstake $15,000 and SuperNet will hit Trillions.  I don't think he believes in his own price predictions, he didn't become a NXT whale (post-launch) and NEM whale (post-launch) by being an holder or an evangelical.

Remember we are talking about a guy who is 20 years old, comes from a broke family in Ireland with no assets, and yet a couple years later ranks among the wealthiest in cryptocurrency without being in NXT's original distribution or an early Bitcoin adopter.  He is a multi-millionaire from crypto, due to his pumps and his association with James, while most people like Eadeqa have taken financial losses.

Kodtycoon operates a lot of socks, has inside info on many projects and pumps and dumps (and trolls & fuds on sockpuppets!) for MASSIVE personal profit.

If you want to save your money from that manipulator Kodtycoon then do the opposite of his recommendation.  If Kodtycoon tells you to sell - you buy, if Kodtycoon tells you to buy - you sell.  You only follow his advice and recommendations if you are in his exclusive pump and dump circle on Slack.

It's always better to promise low and deliver high, so my advice to potential investors for NAUT and Drachmae is to wait and see. There's still a lot of organisation to do before Drachmae goes live, and the situation on the ground in Greece could change beyond all recognition in the next month.

@HeroCat:
Most of the payment systems will run via an SMS gateway initially.......so no extra hardware or advanced tech needed. Everyone has an SMS capable phone.

@solid12345:
Yep, +1. It is a pretty small municipal government, though  Wink
