More than 100,000 refugees and migrants have arrived in Europe so far this year, at triple the rate of arrivals over the first half of 2015.

The number of immigrants is relatively low, as the winter season is still not finished. From mid-March onward, we can expect an immigrant influx of approx. 300,000 (or more) per month, and the rates will remain stable till November or December. I am expecting a total immigrant influx of 2 million to 3 million for 2016.
already 110,000 during the first 6 weeks of 2016, even when winter make the trip difficult? This will result in 1.0 Million of a steady flow for this entire year and hardly anyone has the guts to do what's needed to stop the invading hordes.

Yeah oh my god no people actually fleeing from the shitty countries we created and coming for a better life how terrible they are!!! Roll Eyes

Everything will depend upon the Turkish response. There are up to 3 million of these "refugees" in Turkey. And the goat-fucker of Ankara is not happy with the recent ceasefire deal in Syria. He is already threatening that he will ship all these 3 million to the Balkans, unless he gets what he want (i.e more money, and a large chunk of land in the Latakia and Idlib provinces of Syria).

The European Union just gave € 3,000 million to Turkey, for the same purpose. And the Turks are sending these funds directly to the ISIS
Tell Turkey to use all the money they are saving from buying ISIS oil (they lied about) and use THAT savings to pay their bills. All of Europe, build fences all around. Much cheaper!!

Are you crazy? you think turkey will fund Isis with money Europe gave them?

U know that there have been multiple Isis attacks in turkey already right?

I've been to Turkey and there live a lot of nice people, they are the most western muslim country.

And we are not going to build fences around Europe, you sound like Trump..

And you do realize that the current president of Turkey is a Muslim extremist, manipulating the media and transforming the democracy into a dictatorhip?

You are right.
I think that Turkish president using this big refugee crisis very well to receive more money and support from EU and also to attack Kurds in Syria and Iraq without any punishment.
He almost started war with Russia over tinny incident.
Turkey is not part of solution in this conflict but part of problem.

Muslim migrants always cost a fortune and provide little in exchange, usually shy of proper work (please, don't name as work sitting in shabby corner shop!) All they do later is never integrate and try to recreate the very Muslim lunacy they had to leave as migrants in their former countries.
yes i totally agree with you.. they have to do some serious job in their new countries and integrate if not they should be kicked out of them..

I doubt whether they will be ready to do the blue-collar jobs. There are a lot of low-paying jobs available across the European Union. Just to name a few, there is a shortage of agricultural workers in Italy, there is a severe shortage of masons in England, and factories are closing in Poland due to the lack of workers. But most of these jobs are located in the rural areas, and the salary might not be very attractive.

Thats a good initiation by Europe to help Greece by various forms. The refugees initially will just try to be under control, when their strength increases automatically they try to take control over country men which recently happened in Germany. So finally Greece is gonna suffer for the good it did.

Good initiative? Greece is being given some €80 million, while Turkey gets €3,000 million. What sort of justice is this? And Greece is currently facing a financial meltdown, while Turkey is making billions of USD every year by selling crude oil from the ISIS. For me it seems like the European Union is completely biased against the Greeks.

Because greece already got 250 billion € since 2010 not counting the haircut.
That makes 50 billion a year.

Yeah but it was the EU who asked to open Greek borders :-/

Refugee arrivals in Greece exceed 100,000 in less than two months

More than 100,000 refugees and migrants have arrived in Europe so far this year, at triple the rate of arrivals over the first half of 2015.

At least 102,500 have arrived on the Greek islands of Samos, Kos and Lesbos, according to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM). Another 7,500 have reached Italy, and in the first six weeks of the year 411 people are known to have died attempting to make the journey.

In 2015 the threshold of 100,000 arrivals was not reached until the end of June. As spring approaches and the weather improves, the rate of arrivals this year is expected to climb further.

The IOM said 20% of the arrivals were from Afghanistan and nearly half were Syrians. On Monday the US and Russia agreed to organise a partial truce involving the Assad regime and most of the Syrian armed opposition, but not Islamic State or the Nusra Front. There are widespread doubts about how effective the ceasefire will be and how long it will last.

The influx of refugees has been met with a chaotic response among European countries. On Friday Austria imposed of a cap on the number of people it would admit each day to 80 asylum seekers and 3,200 people seeking transit to other EU countries. The restriction prompted Macedonia to stop Afghans crossing its border from Greece, triggering riots by Afghans and bitter complaints from Athens and the UN refugee agency, the UNCHR.

We dont need their money. We can print 80m drachmas.

It was the European Union which forced the Greeks to open their borders to the unwashed hordes of barbarians from the Middle East. The Greeks don't want any of them in their territory, but are forced to accept them on the orders of the EU. So it is the responsibility of the European Union to compensate the Greeks for any loss they suffer from this influx.

Why are you so racist, refugee is a refugee, how do you think will you treated in muslim countries if you were a refugee? This what is doing EU and this help to Greece is a good and human thing and every other country should do the same.

It's not racist if you speak about Muslims. The second question is easy, any non muslim in a muslim country is a 2nd rank citizen:

Hotel vouchers, apartment rental programmes and subsidies to host families to be supported by European commission

The European commission has pledged to give €80m (£58m) to Greece to help house refugees through schemes including an apartment rental programme, hotel vouchers and subsidies to families who will host refugees.

The scheme, announced in Athens on Monday, aims to provide 20,000 additional reception places to the country on the frontline of Europe’s migration crisis. Asylum seekers and candidates seeking relocation elsewhere in Europe will be eligible.

“Today we stand in solidarity with Greece and with children, women and men seeking refuge in Europe,” said the commission vice-president Kristalina Georgieva. “The scheme we are launching offers EU budgetary support for families, notably providing them with adequate shelter.”

Greece has seen more than 790,000 men, women and children land on its shores since January. Almost all wish to continue their journey north, through the Balkan peninsula to central Europe. But the decision of several countries along that corridor to close their borders to anyone deemed not to be from a conflict zone has left thousands stranded.

Violence has punctuated chaotic scenes along Greece’s border with its northern neighbour Macedonia.

Labouring under its worst economic crisis in modern times, Athens has scrambled to host the arrivals in sporting venues erected for the 2004 Olympic Games, in camps on Greek islands and in tents in public squares.

Tensions have risen noticeably as Moroccans and other economic migrants, temporarily sheltered in an estwhile Olympic taekwondo venue, have protested against conditions and demanded to be allowed to continue their journey onwards into Europe. In a nation racked by plummeting living standards and recession, the prime minister, Alexis Tsipras, and other officials are increasingly voicing fears that Greece will become a “repository of trapped souls” desperately trying to move west.

i dont understand that all the europe wants to let asylum seeker enter its countiries freely.. when greece had some financial troubles at a time, eu didnt want to show any sign of helping to it.. so why is eu volunteer to help immigrants now ? this is so ridiculous..

Greek citizens won't be happy, and their tourism will suffer if that happens. Now strike in Athens against Tzipras so probably if they need to give home to refugees it will be almost war there
it won't affect it as much as a vat rise on tourist to greece will greece as a tourist will be a thing of the past
