I have totally bummed out getting any software miner to detect a single gridseed ASIC on Windows 7 64 bit. tried bothe that standar driver STM32 or what ever as well as winusb via zadig, rinsed and repeated to no avail. tried 4 or 5 diff version of CG as well as BFG miner still nothing. they all detect my GPU though :/ but no seed. So now I am going to install linux onto a USB stick and try mining with Linux. Can someone recomend a good guide for people who are noobs with both ASICS and Linux Pretty Please!!!? Plenty of exp mining with CG miner on windows with GPU. Have alittle experience using FreeBSD some years back. Is there a Distro ready to go with gridseeds? and all I would have to do is change the pool/user/pass details? or am I dreaming there? Im pretty sure I have seen such things for GPUmining with *nix. But I have done some extensive googling and failed to find anything

Thanks... I'll have a look at BAMT. It won't work on the computer I am using right now, but I might be able to find another one computer to use... :-)

They are running off a 13 port hub.

Yep there are a number of other tasks running on this computer. Other than cpuminer some of the other stuff it's doing is:
  • bfgminer for bitcoin mining (A Butterfly Labs Jalapeno, and 3 Antminer U1 s plugged into the same USB hub)
  • Couchpotato
  • Sickbeard
  • BT Sync for backups of all other computers on the network
  • wfrog weatherstation software conected to an oregon scientifc weatherstation

Load is not an issue as the system hovers on load of around 0.1 - 0.2

ok - I was going to recommend BAMT is you were not doing anything else on the computer because it boots off a stick and rock solid. I use it on my rigs

I've got 2 5 chip miners hooked up to an Ubuntu 13.10 headless computer. Every so often it seems that Ubuntu re-disccovers one of the miners and give is a new /dev/ttyACMx... Obviously that means that that miner is then no longer being used by cpuminer...

Anyone else seen this happening?
Is there anyway to stop Ubuntu from re-discovering the miner and giving it a new /dev/ttyACMx ?

it's apparently dropping off line, hen re-appearing. I'm also running headless ubuntu with 20 gridseeds and have never had that happen. are you running them off a hub?

are you running any other tasks on this computer or is it simply for mining?

well - the gridseed blades are out - I have 3 of them in addition to my 20 gridseeds and tomorrow I'm ordering a 30Mhs unit from hashra - I still run my 3 mining rigs that all have R9 280x GPU (12 in total) for x11 and other oddball cryptos as long as the coin pays well.

why solarize? the technology is still in the stone age - talk that money and buy a gridseed blade or one of the hashra units

Look im a total noob with ASICs, never had one, got some arriving in the mail any day now, as well as a Pi too, so ill be back asking some questions now doubt coz ima noob with linux too. I have a fair bit of experience using cgminer on windows with an R9 280x though so hopefully that will help. (A few years ago I managed to install FreeBSD on a PC and install or rather port a few things, No idea if I can remember anything. I had putty installed. I had a lot of help from a friend who is a assistant network admin at a university, but hes too busy these days to help me Sad)

What I do know a little about is electronics and a thing I am regularly seeing around the traps is reference to these things only using like 5 to 8w of power @ 12v however the recommended PSU is 12v 5amp? what tha?  I cant remember the Formula for calculating amps from watts & Volts (my science teacher did tell me, but typical as a kid nothing sticks lol. I supose I could google it) but at 240v AC (in Australia) 5 amps is equal to ~1200w, I find it hard to fathom that even at 12v 5 amps (I assume DC (and dunno if DC/AC makes diff to formula)) is equal to 5 to 8w. Whats going on there. These suckers are suposed to draw very little power? Voltage aint power, current is and 5 amps is a lot, its enough to cook your insides, so why the 5 amp recommendation? for one? Sure I get why for 5, 10, 15, 20 etc, but for one? 500ma should be plenty yeh? for one?

Anyway, its just something thats been bugging me. I intend (for a project, solarizing my rig) at 33c per Killawasp hour in most of straya I really wanna generate Crypto for free (other than HW) So I really need to get to the bottom of how much jiuce these little suckers need.

:-S to top it all off this very day Some company's are releasing a new generation of ASIC Scrypt miners set to out do the Gridseed 5 chipper. Meant to be 1000KH for less than 200 bucks on scrypt :/ yeh yeh you want a link? I wanna keep it secret as long as possible. But you will hear about them in coming days, so what the heck. They are still only pre order, but they are coming and apear to be made by the most unlikely of people: http://www.gawminers.com/the-fury-1-mh-s-asic-scrypt-miner-week-three/

So Cop that on ya weeties :/ So sorry I ordered gridseeds now, could have had Fury's (not bit fury's or red fury;s) or black windows or war machines lol

See y'all iun a fe days when my gear arrives. Hope customs dont keep it too long Cheesy

I'm having the same issue as dansilber and godaimepoker. I'm using CentOS. My GPU stuff shows up on clevermining just fine. The Gridseed however does not (after 4 hours of mining).

EDIT: I ended up using CGMINER (the version that was forked specifically for Gridseeds) and it worked just fine.)

by the way - you can run your freq at 850 - I do and you'll make more $$$

that's what it's supposed to be doing!!!

you're accumulating shares

you don't get anything until your shares are confirmed and remember that the stats reported by most pools are innacurate.

personally - I don't mine LTC - it has not been performing well. I like Einsteinium and emc2.lifeforce.info - it pays a lot more every day.

congrats!

Is my gridseed broken??

this is the output (below) after I run this: "sudo ./minerd --freq=700 --gc3355=/dev/ttyACM0 --url=stratum+tcp://us.clevermining.com:3333 -u 1L4WAb43yGeN2KbeUK5HutpQHfeBP4Z2gS  -p anything -a scrypt "

on ubuntu linux but I am not seeing any stats in my user homepage at clevermining.com

Same problem here in ubuntu 12.04 with gridseed

¿have you resolved?

my command is ./minerd --freq=600 --gc3355=/dev/ttyACM0  --url=stratum+tcp/freedom.wemineltc.com:3339  --userpass=u:p

and the output also similar after a couple of hours. No stat at wemineltc neither.

no man it's working!!!!

it takes time for the stats to show up...

now - next thing is for you to change your worker name to the name I give you...

ok?

How long does it come up? Because it's been two hours I think. I used a cpu miner also and it showed up about 1 hour 1 minutes later...

if the stuff is scrolling by then it's one of two things:

1) they're incredibly slow
2) you entered someone else's work on your command line and they're seeing windfall profits!

Even if I entered someone else's address I should still be able to see it in the public stats page, btw that's how clevermining works. And still it says that I am an unknown user (clevermining will auto create username based on bitcoin address)

well - my interest was in mining some other coins besides ltc and if I could get one that worked on my gridseeds I'd compare the code to the code used to mine from other currencies and make the changes necessary to mine something more profitable than ltc

If you know how, I'm one of many people who would appreciate improvements/fixes to the SHA256 code!

I'm wondering if there is a cgminer for gridseed?

Yes, for the BTC mining, but I haven't got it working for Mac and I hear it's not working for people on other platforms either
