Grin isn't for getting rich quick.

If someone thinks that he's going to get rich in a split second just because he bought some crypto, then he should have his head examined.
Had read that before, but failed to remember the juicy parts. Wink
Thanks.

Well if you scrap your savings and buy Bitcoin today and wait 3 years you will be rich. I am pretty much sure about that. all you will need to do is to keep coins safe.

More than 10% inflation for the next 10 years, more than 5% inflation for the next 25 years. This was made for the purpose of stability and to bring down volatility. Considering that grin might never have bitcoin's level of adoption in the next 10 years, grin's move will be predominantly on a low volatility line going down.

I reckon grin's development team were very serious when they said that this will not be a get rich quick coin.

Respectfully asking... do you know what inflation means? Since GRIN has a steady emission, it CAN NOT have a steady inflation percentage for 10 or 25 years.
After 1 year GRIN will be increasing its supply by 0.0792% monthly, or roughly by 0.9% between year 1 and year 2. That's a long cry from the "10% for the next 10 years".

A more detailed approach,

You cant compare price I think. Because Ravencoin have max supply coins and Grin dont have. Crin is interesting for sure... but unlimited coin a little scares...

But Ravencoin won't hit the max supply for over 20 years... to be honest I'm bored to calculate it exactly with the halvings that will occur.
I calculated the today's monthly inflation of Ravencoin and Grin,
  • Grincoin adds 2.201% more coins every month and it's about 13 days old.
  • Ravencoin adds 0.0776% more coins every month and it's 13 months old.

In 1 year the stats will look like that,
  • With 32,713,560 GRIN in circulation, there will be a 0.0792% monthly emission, that will be very similar to Ravencoin's 1 year.
  • With 5,411,920,000 RVN in circulation, there will be a 0.0399% monthly emission.

But what I'm most interested to compare is the emission after RVN halves the rewards.

These will be the emission rates 4 years after the genesis block of both coins (January 2023 for GRIN and January 2022 for Ravencoin). Both chains will be at block 2,100,000 after 4 years.
  • GRIN will have 126m coins and the steady block reward will be equal to 0.0206% monthly inflation at that time.
  • RVN will have 10.5b coins but the block reward will be halved to 2500 thereafter. This means 0.0103% monthly inflation (after the halving).

It seems to me that for the first 4 years both coins have a very similar inflation pattern. By the end of 4 years both coins will be at a very low 0.02% / month.
However, after that Ravencoin will start halving (every 4 years) and the inflation rates of the two coins will start diverging until after maaaaany years RVN won't be able to halve any more.
The question is, how important will this 0.01% difference be when it takes place in 4 years? How will all the other factors weight in (recognition and acceptance, usability, technical advancements, investors' liking)?

- It's more similar to Ethereum
Ethereum's reward stayed at 5 ether per block until late 2017. It then changed to 3 ether per block, with plan to 2 ether per block after Constantinople upgrade.
- It's even more similar to gold
Gold has historically had a linear emission, like Grin. See this graph comparing Bitcoin, Grin, and gold emissions.

It's a bit strange how GRIN is all like "$5 is a nice number. I think I'll hang around here for a while."

a currency with unlimited supply can only fall in time, the $ 5 will be sadly recounted in a few months. In fact it is not profitable to mine it since days ago.

OK, so which coin is profitable to mine ATM?

For AMD maybe so - due to the lack of mining software support - but for NVDIA it is not the case:

Poloniex will come back.
In fact, Poloniex has performed well by improving their supports, user interface, security methods, and their strategy to list new coins.
Polo isn't as big as it used to be.

Yeap, Binance is a new Poloniex in both sides.
First, they have become big, and the biggest exchange for now.
Second, they will deflate later months, or years. At that time, might be the chance for old exchanges, like Poloniex or Bittrex to come back and take over Binance.

Binance is the new poloniex. After so many KYC enforcements and locked accounts, many people left poloniex.

It is still better than nothing though.
Everthing change so fast in crypto, and investors, traders simply choose the best one for them at specific period.

Since GRIN is already listed in Bittrex, I wouldn't expect a listing in Poloniex to have much of an effect. This 10% seems to be all.
Poloniex was always giving me a feeling of being scummy, I can't recall why though because I haven't used them for a year now! Cheesy

This would not be practical to do in Monero unless it changes its monetary policy to be more similar to Grin or also Dogecoin. What would Monero's inflation rate be when all the coins are mined and tail emission enters? Less than 1%.

I reckon this incetivizes hoarding. Grin's monetary policy, however, is designed to be a currency.

What Monero's Ric Spagni Thinks About Privacy And Money

If you ask Riccardo Spagni–aka FluffyPony on Crypto Twitter–about who should invest in Monero, get ready for a pushback. “Monero's probably not an investment. It's designed to be a currency, and in particular it's designed to be a privacy-preserving currency.” says Spagni.

Is it too late to announce to all you that Grin coin, our favorite altcoin, has been listed on our former favorite exchange, Poloniex.

Actually, I posted about the listing here before even Poloniex did at their social media channels. Wink

Yeah, and on it's one year birthday when the front row of teeth is complete, it'll get it's first zero next to that five.
Which side, is only a matter of perspective. Roll Eyes
