I'm the only person who has donated toward this image so far... Perhaps we will implement a "pay-per-guess" system on the website we're developing for this to weed out the freeloaders, but I'd hoped to keep it free.

It's the same thing, isn't it? Each person who guesses pays to guess what it is, thus causing the image to increase in size. It makes more sense than just randomly sending money to an address to make it bigger.

Consider changing to this setup:
Start out with a picture with ~฿0.20 already deposited
Accept guesses only for a donation of ฿0.05
This way, every guess makes the picture easier, but it is the only way to guess.

If 80% of pot is given out to winner and 20% is started by the person operating the game... Then for a pot starting off with .2 btc (donated by operator), it would require another .8 btc donated for the operator to make his/her money back.

I suppose this set up could work if the pixels added were based off of total amount in pot, that way the operator stands a greater chance to make a profit.  The ideal scenario would be that the image could only be guessed correctly after the pot reached a size where the 20% brought the operator a profit (1 btc total pot in this case)

The incentive to deposit money is being able to actually guess the picture and claim the prize.   Wink
Naw, depositing money gives everyone an equal chance to guess it. If you want people to deposit money, it should be a strong personal incentive. Like in bitcoinduit, depositing ฿0.1 for a chance at ฿5.

Consider changing to this setup:
Start out with a picture with ~฿0.20 already deposited
Accept guesses only for a donation of ฿0.05
This way, every guess makes the picture easier, but it is the only way to guess.

It looks like that photo of a dog's butt that looks like the outline of Jesus.

There's no good incentive to deposit money.

If every guess cost 0.01 BTC, and you started out with a somewhat clearer picture, that might be a different story…
