Anger is a gift.
How many would be possible in scrypt mode per PCIe? Think I saw cablez saying he could wire 15 to 1 PCIe cable. So 10 on 1 in scrypt mode should work? Don't want to try my new toys tomorrow.

I scripted 600-900 in 1,5,10,25,50,100 increments.  My units do 600 or 50m increments.
It's because both cgminer and cpuminer set frequencies based on predefined init messages, and they've only made a few of those. These are the frequencies supported by cpuminer:

static const char *str_frequency[] = {
"250", "400", "450", "500", "550", "600",
"650", "675", "700", "750", "800", "850", "900",
NULL
};

Can someone post links to some AC adapters from Amazon (USA) that would work for these? I don't want to play with wires Cheesy

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Are these good to go? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TUMDWG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1YTQ37YMBKHMD

It's for the children!

I scripted 600-900 in 1,5,10,25,50,100 increments.  My units do 600 or 50m increments.

I have found that 750 - 850 is the best spot for clocks.

What is the issue running in dual mode in windows?  I can pull my unit out and test it all/ write up single unit dual mining if needed.  It'll be win7 64 bit.

Not sure there is an issue, just no reports of any users doing it >.> I don't have my units yet, they're still in the mail. Looking at your dual mode for linux writeup, looks like most of that info should be relevant to succeeding with dual mode in windows. My biggest concern with dual mining is amp draw on the PSU cables....

It really depends what mode you are running in. For scrypt only mode 3 plugs is actually way underpowered as you can get just about 20 devices @10W on a single PCIe cable.

The 18AWG wire can handle 10A and the minifit pins/housings are rated for 9A. Theoretically you can pull 9Ax12V=108W per wire pair. I would not push it that far but safely getting 80W per wire pair has been done ad infinum by miners. This gives 80W*3pairs=240W per PCIe cable.

Those numbers from the PCIe spec are really safe and are meant to protect the graphics card and motherboard which we will not be using in this instance.

According to this I would only be able to run 1 unit per wire pair (3 per pcie or 1 per molex) in dual mode, which drastically reduces the amount of devices I can put on a single machine. Or am I missing something?

If you decide to expand the writeup for dual mode in windows, I'll be sure to point some hash power towards your donation address once I've got everything running smoothly.

3 per pci-e and/or 1 per molex is correct for dual mode.

I'll try to do windows dual in the morning,

Single mode is 6W 12V .5A max 10W 12V .84A dual mode is 60w 12V 5A max 100W 12V 8.4A so I would say the 7AMP recommendation is SPOT ON for providing max needed power for dual mode!

So if you are running in Scrypt mode we can safely say 1Amp/1,000ma provided will be a standard number and plenty of power for scrypt mode.

Once cablez finalizes a standardized design he will be able to send out a lot of orders pretty quick.

Thanks for following up on this! Looks like I have a power supply in the junk bin that will at least get one of these running while Cablez hammers out a solution or I wire up some molex connectors myself. Would be nice if there was a working dual mode for Winblows (my rigs all run windows, I know...), but probably safer to not bother if I'm gonna wire these up myself. Looks like I just found a use for all these molex>pci connectors that come with GPUs. Now to find the soldering iron.... :-)

What is the sefest maximum OC to push this board to when just mining Scrypt? I have the miner hooked directly to my win64 pc since I can not get my hands on a powered usb hub at 10PM at night and just mining scrypt i have it at 850, is it safe to push it much higher??

I've seen users report using 900mhz, but most say 850 performs best. Seems everyone changes these in 50mhz increments, can they be changed in 25, 10mhz intervals or is 50mhz changes all they can accept?
I have tried increments of 10 it just defaults back to 600, I will give 900 a try for overnight

Also on the gridseed WIIboard there is a micro usb and full size usb, maybe i had them setup wrong, I had the power going to the micro usb and the miner hooked to the full size usb. is this correct?

I know I read it in one of the gridseed threads somewhere, but I cant seem to find it now. Can anyone tell me what the specific power requirements of a 5 chip Gridseed device is? Thanks.

?

The board says 100ma via USB and 12v (IDK amps) via the 2.5mm barrel plug.

All the power draws are in the power and freqs section of the OP.

Amps is what I'm trying to find, I think I read somewhere that a power supply for these should have 7 amps available, which sounds really high. Maybe 7 amps is for the whole 3Mh kit, when using dual mode. Thinking I'll just rig up a molex>barrel connector cable so I can plug these into the psu running the rig I plan to add them to. Unless Cablez can get me a cable in the mail real soon, but I'm betting he is pretty swamped at the moment.

Yeah he's become super popular overnight because of the cabling problem with these miners. Cheesy

Cablez does superior work!  I didn't really think so many people would read this guide.

I cannot get the board to detect the miner when I hook it directly up and I cannot find the AC adapter for my hub at the moment, I plug the miner into my pc and it is detected fine. Once I have this thing running I will take some photos of the wired up psu connector and post it here.

So that confirms the board is powered by usb while I'm guessing the fan and some part of the mining chips are powered by the power connector. -> which means you will need a powered hub.

ok so i have everything powered up the Wiicontroller has a green led on it and the miner has a green flashing led on it
I have one more noob question: How do i find the ip address of my wiicontroller box
I used wiibox.net  got the ip but when i type it in it the browser just keeps trying to access it but nothing is coming up

Most routers have a DHCP lease table.  The MAC address on the unit is printed on the bottom.

ok everything is working but the its all in chinese, cant make sense of most of that ip page

I want a screenshot of this Smiley

Is it possible to plug 1 miner directly into the WIIBox controller or do I need a powered hub???

You need a powered hub to give enough power to the gridseed board (I'm only 99% sure of this)   Someone should try it.

Also note i was successful thanks to help in this thread using a ide molex to power(5v) the controller and a miner(12v)

I definitely want a picture of these so I can add it to the wiring diagrams I posted above!

Can someone name a make and model of USB hub that is working well for them?

This is common question.  If you find one let me know the model.  For now I think it's about full USB 2.0 speed and high overall power.

This is the one that came with my GX devices http://sipolar.en.alibaba.com/product/1319068659-0/Desktop_10port_charging_station_battery_charging_station_for_mobile_phone.html

I could likely source an order from china for a few dozen each if it's worthwhile.

here's a 20 port on ebay.
