Thank you very much for this. From now on if i have interest in a coin i will always kook at the explorer. I did think about this before but I wasn't exactly sure how to so it.  I know you dont mine tokens bit are there any gove aways for them? Or i guess there are not since tokens are pre-mined? Is there a way to distribute tokens outside of the devs control? I dont understand why not more people are posting here. This is very important and people need to listen and not keep falling and support coins and tokens that they should know better. Noone should be supporting premine coins like this and everyone should educate themselves and arm themselves with this sort of info ao these scams simply die off.

I find this information helpful to me. As of now, I don't have plan on buying altcoins but if I want to then this thread is also one to look for to determine if it is a scam project. There are other threads that can help to detect scam project but this one is also able to do it's thing finding fake or scam projects.

You found a very nice example coin EROTICA  Grin
But to be serious now... this is nice information for everyone who is dealing with altcoins circus
They are all around, you can find more. Honestly, I knew bunches of projects like Erotica, but I did not write them down, and as of the time I wrote this thread, I did not remember past cases. Just saw Erotica, and ideas for the thread apppeared, then I wrote it and took Erotica as a case study for my thread.

Around two months passed, and the Erotica has been a death one.
There is a thread on Terminology (by yogi), in which you can find terms of premined, instamine.
Quote
'Instamine'
The act of generating coins without having to perform any traditional mining techniques. This is often used by new altcoins as an alternative to premining.

Quote
'Premine'
Before some altcoins are released to the public they are premined. This generates coins for the developers, who hope to profit from them in the future.

Update:
One week passed, and they finished their works.
There is nothing to do with this case study, since today.
Dropped from $0.75 to $ 0.032 during nearly 7 days, that equals to about 95.7% loss.

Not sure about this.
Personally, if I can not find what I need in block #1, I will move next early blocks.
I usually find what I need in the first ten blocks, including premined coins, and movements of those premined coins.
Is it better to check if there's a block 2. Block 1 can't be spent can it (or is that just with bitcoin)?
One of the simplies, fastest, and most effective approach to find scam and stupid projects.

Nice guide though, it's a simple trick but still one most people won't think of.

Rank up fella  Cheesy Gave you the needed 4.
You have hit the finish line even before the end of this week. Congrats. Still hunting for other users like you, so that I own the pride of ranking them up. And more importantly please don't merit this post (most of them tend to do so), spend your smerits wisely to the one who needs them  Wink
Appreciated your helpful sMerits and compliments, fella.

I had the ideas, but I simply thought if LoyceV decided to add my topic to his [Guide] topic (Request sent there), it is unnecessary to provide more ones in my topic.
Anyway, it is good, so I added them into OP.

Until the establishment of a special board/Child Board for [Guide].
Suggest that you add this topic to the list of guides [1] & [2] thus making it easy to detect scam projects.
This method of detecting zombies scammers but some projects need a deep searching.

I checked that ANN yesterday and was surprised by the lack of white papers, developers and many other negative signals.

Welcome to my topic,

Today, I would like to present you all the first step you should apply if you want to make a quick investigation on Proof-of-Work or Proof-of-Stake projects are scam ones or not.

There are so many indicators you can use, but in the topic, I present you the first prioritized indicator (in my opinion), premined coin figure.
Which ever types of project (PoW or PoS/ MN) you have interests, let's visit their explorer, and type 1, then enter.
Like this one:

If you found that there are premined coins with the search result on explorer on block #1, but the coin specifications have not mentioned anything about those premined coins.
It's time to fastly jump into conclusion that it is a highly potential scam project.
You should re-check both coin specifications on project's website and ANN topic to see that they made mistakes with content presentation or not.
However, I don't think you can find un-identical contents on website and ANN topic if developers have intention to scam investors.

For example, let's visit my first scam accusation.
[Accusation] Another scam PoS/ MN project, Erotica.

To conclude, if you find that projects have hidden premined coins, you should stop searching more about them, stop thinking of invest into them.
Such projects are highly potential scam projects!

In my opinion, only check hidden premined coins is enough for scam accusation.
However, if you want to move further, let's observe movements of those premined coins.
If developers don't mention anything about those movements and its purposes, you have another plus point to the conclusion that it is a scam project.
