Hi

Thanks for the links and very good Stak 2.1. As a beginner I managed to get it working.

Using the indeed pool. How can I see mining stats? IS there a pool address or link on pool pages on Monero.org?

Hi i need help. i tried the hynix timings on the thread, but i'm still getting only 700 hs on XMR. i have sapphire+nitro rx 580 8gb , gigabyte gaming rx 580 8gb & msi  gaming x  rx 580 8gb  all stuck at 700 hs per card.

any idea which card will give me the most bang for the buck?

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=rx570&N=-1&isNodeId=1

bought a card locally for testing, it's a SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX 570 4GB , bought it cause it seems to advertise a faster clock and overclock, than the others, i'll let you know how it does stock, and then we'll see what can be done to give it a bump.

Thanks for the reply, I have found the rx570's for sale and they appear to be competitively priced and have a better output than the Nvidias 1060.

I am wondering about the bios mods for these RX570's. Where can I find out about them?

<<>> ooops! i see that you give some info in this thread, I'll read the whole thing, then come back with my newb questions!

Hey Guys!

I'm back in the mining biz. Have been Hodling my bitcoin and now I have got the itch to start mining again.
Looks like monero will be my target.

I am at that stage where i'm trying to learn as much as I can as fast as I can and my head is spinning. I am hoping someone could help direct my focus.

located in Canada
cost per KWH: aprrox 6.5 cents per kw hour (US)
Goal: build a GPU mining rig

I have ordered a couple of Nvidia GTX 1060's 4GB just to stick in a couple of computers i have lying around, just to play around with different configs. My expectation for this card is to get about 525 H/S for about 50w once optimized.

Before I go out an buy 6 or 8 cards for a rig i wanted to get familiar and find the best card in terms of speed and energy efficiency and purchase price.

Now that i have already ordered the 1060's I stumbled upon some RX580's , cost a bit more to buy, more to run, but seem to put out more hashes. Once configured and maybe bios modded, what do you think the RX580 will do? 890 MH/s at 95 watts?

Seeing as my hydro costs are fairly low, perhaps I should be looking at AMD?

one more question, resale value? Should i be concerned? What about moded firmaware, can that be restored to stock before i sell the AMD? I have heard the Nvidia do better on resale? True? or nothing really to worry about?

The PSU I ordered is  EVGA SuperNOVA 850 https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438092

If AMD is the way to go,I can always return the Nvidias 1060's i have coming or stick them in some other pcs I have lying around.

So ideally, what would you suggest for the rig? 6 AMD rx580s'  or like 8 Nvidia 1060's . What would be the best way to max out that power supply? Any good motherboard suggestions would be appreciated!

RX 570 are probably better, the hashrate is almost same and they are way cheaper at least in EU. Still it depends on memory you will have and silicon lottery... 1060 is not very good for XMR and I'm not sure about those 50W and 500+H/s.

All mining SW is detected as virus...

I'm going to assume you didn't actually read the link.
I'm not saying my antivirus software picked it up as malware.
I may be new, but I'm not that basic.

What I'm saying is that the link is describing, at least as I understand it, very literal malware that is copying itself to numerous systems, using their mining power, and slotting the mined crypto into the attacker's wallet.
In case I'm not clear enough, a human being—not an app—did an investigation and typed up an entire report on the matter. That's what the link is.

So about a week ago, I downloaded the modified xmr-stak.
The config has the default pool set to "xmr.crypto-pool.fr:3333" and I saw no reason to change it.
I couldn't sleep early this morning and out of curiosity, I decided to look them up and the first result was actually this crypto malware report.
I panicked thinking I was compromised but after reading it more, from what I can gather, the malware is using members of the pool to mine crypto?
As in, the pool itself isn't necessarily responsible, it's just that the pool, or members within the pool, is/are infected in some way?
Am I getting that right?
My computer seems to be running normally and I don't see any odd background processes, but I figured I'd rather bring this up than not, being that I came here for the download link.

Hello,

Thank you for this amazing thread !

I want to share my monero mining results, it's my first experience.

So, I mine with 1 ASUS Dual-RX480-O4G and 1 Saphir RX 580 Nitro + 4G with XMR-Stak on WIN 10 and with Crimson Relive 17.11.1 for both.

Results :

563 h/s for the 480
627 h/s for the 580

Do you know if I can improve my mining rate ?

Thank you in advance, have a nice day.

Another question,

when searching for a good config, what's the better option, get a good miner config wtih highest possible hashrate and then fine tune with core/mem clock or the other way around?

best regards,
MtD
It's better to OC cards first and then play with config.

So far I have been using algo cryptonight by Claymore CryptoNote AMD GPU Miner v9.7 Beta for a long time and the result was like this:

GPU 1303/2150 -  total consumption 760W - hashrate 2818 h/s  https://imgur.com/meypJfR

I've also tried xmr-stack 1.4 and 2.0 (30 h / s better) have similar results:

GPU 1303/2150 - total consumption 645W - hashrate 2732 h/s  https://imgur.com/0FM5EL1

Bios card is original without modifications and config files are basics.
Does anyone have better results or are they a regular result ?
I have MSI 4xRX480 8gb, win7 64bit and driver 17.2.1.

Lots of things can be done.  Read the thread.
You can get 750+ with ease and 800-850 with additional tweaks.

I would say 90-100W.
You're probably right cause that's what I was having on Linux 9 cards - 935w from wall (including cpu ~35w and measured using KAW) .  I'll check with KAW once and if I manage to revive it.

Experimental 2.  Got 915 H/s Now

Thank you. I'll read this whole thread. Good result 915 h/s. I have no experience with bios mod. That's why I wanted some of the best GPU settings.

Hello,

I'm having some troubles finding a solid configuration for my setup:
E6850 @ 3.0 GHz
4GB RAM
Win 10 x64
Beta mining drivers
2x Gigabyte RX580 8gb

currently using Claymore miner with -h 1850, and the cards 1130 core and 2220 mem clock, but can achieve only some 630H/s.
I also tried the amdStak miner, but got similar results.

Any ideas what could be done or where could be the bottlenect, to get to some 700k/H withoud bios mod.

best regards,
MtD
