Hitting 30 on a 480x is normal and via your screen capture it shows only being able to hit 31 and not a constant 31. I do wish you luck in selling it. If you could sell it let me know so i can sell to these farm bozo too...

Again, i am NOT selling this BIOS.

The RX 480s easily go higher than 31mhs, this isint what i'm showing to people. The volt mod is to be added to anyone's favorite ROM, to save power. You may have not noticed its at a mere 2200 mem?

Changing VDDC on the ROM is unrelated to the hashrate, which is dependent on the memory. I guess you probably have not realized, but there's no point in showing off the MHs, since unless you're editing memory timings (You're not), the hashrate you can get is up to the card's silicon lottery, not the user's skills.

And when you have 500 Cards, that amount to how much? We serve GPUs on ethOS in the numbers of 5 digits, and that's only a small portion of the ETH network. O.O

ethOS is good for R9 cards, but with RX cards sucks.
What mhs (and  what power consumption) it has under ethOS 1.1.2 ?

I won't lie, but its not "ethOS" its the linux driver stack, so the -2 to -3 mhs on Linux is universal. The most i have seen/got is 29mhs on Linux and 32.5mhs on Windows (about same watts at that ratio).

We're at the mercy of AMD on that one, hopefully their linux team reach performance parity before long.

A lot of people still use ethOS for them... because setting up and managing 200 windows rig is a bit of a pain. But for a small-time hobby miner, it's understandable to edge toward a windows rig and its nice little tools.

I agree with the voltage mod p;art. The efficiency of the mining is very important now as the difficulty is too high.

My RX 470 4GB get 128W from the wall running at 28.5MH/s mine ETH only.

I am pretty sure if I had the 8GB model I would be able to reach 31mhs at around a similar power consumption.

All I had to do is strap the bios and lower the VDDC to like 850mV.

Why the 8GB model can do better? I thought the memory size does not matter. Does the 8GB have higher memory frequency?

there is more faster memory chips

Correct... They put Hynix(or worse) in most of the 4gb's, which perform at quite lower mem clock than the Samsung mem you can find in the 8g's...

Huh?
How bout a screenshot of the GPU draw on either GPU-Z or HWinfo  Wink  And a pic of the hashrate after 30min to an hour.   Thanks

I have been been running it for two days on several rigs. And the GPU-z value doesnt mean much, but here;

I don't see how this is a big deal, I can use watt tool to set the voltage offset manual for any 480 card myself as low as is tolerable for the system
some cards I have as low as a 150v offset and I get 120 watts DUAL mining on those

Anyone who pays for these voodoo bioses is a dum fk

If you don't understand, it just mean you're not part of the mining game. What if, you don't use windows? What if, you want this to be on 300 Rigs?

I agree, any bitcoin/eth paid for a bios will be hard to recoup mining.  I think its $2/card/month savings from 160w to 130w at 31mh

And when you have 500 Cards, that amount to how much? We serve GPUs on ethOS in the numbers of 5 digits, and that's only a small portion of the ETH network. O.O

Nice work on the bios.  Cheesy

I wasn't saying it is a bad idea, $1000/month savings is great if the cost of the bios is less than you save.  Although I would say it would be hard to sell for much since there are so many bios available free.

But that is a nice bios

The free VBIOSes are nothing but Polaris BIOS Editor jobs a monkey could do.

Ahhh Wolf!

You hurt my feelings! Be nice will you :p

Anyhow, i'm happy that my assist and help made you guys succeed in adding this offset Smiley

Further, i can only agree with virosa on this.

Adding global offset will give the gpu the command to start calculating vids from a lower starting point.
Which means that the specified core clocks will still use the amount of voltage they need, calculated by the voltage controller.

If you set this as a fixed value, you're basically saying: Mister GPU: You "MUST" use this vid and nothing more or less! (which in a lot of cases will run unstable..)

Greetings!

Here is a bios mod I use for things other than mining but it does pretty well at about 150w at the wall

I will post it later when I have the Mem clocked up  Wink

Not sure what you mean about the speed and I am guessing the bios has a vddc offset.

I got a crude one, but i get 0.5MH/s~ more at same clocks vs using the existing 1625 or 1750 straps. I only know one person that daddles in making his own straps. Even more Niche.

I get 5mhs across my few rigs using it (its not world shattering), so its there more for showing off one's (Wolf0's) skills.

Maybe there's not much demand... maybe there is. I haven't seen a free bios with either the speed mod or the volt mod in. Smiley

I've done a mod for someone;

And the one i've been asked to share the most so far, for 380x;

I used to think 480s were pretty good, when we were doing 27mhs at 165w. Now i get 31mh/130w at the wall, wow. Smiley

Shitty screen D: But you can see the important part... VDDC lowered by ~0.1v, hard modded into the BIOS. (Thanks Heliox/Wolf0)

Can you share the ROM?

Hello ps_jb.

So far i've only shared/sold ROMs with difficult mods privately to farm owners. For this ROM specifically, it has mods in it i don't own, so no can do either way.

Anyhow i'm just showing off the VDDC section. I think its interesting to know what the cards can do.

P.S.; If you need a ROM for rx 480 REFERENCE, I posted one for Everyone here;

Well, at least it's save for you when you are altcoins with gpu. For one gpu it's nothing great save of money but imagine that you have big bitcoin farm with hundreds of gpus, what do you think, in this situation it wouldn't be save for you? Of course yes, this save would be better than no save. It's good for bitcoin's big farms owners and that's why he said that he works with that type of people.
