Ah, possibly very fractionally on the large side then. I'll think about it though (assuming you don't manage to find someone to buy it first, and I'd be very suprised if no-one bites, heh).

friendly bump come on someone buy it so i can make more and invest in some more mining rigs. Cheesy
OK, I'm kind of tempted actually - how much would shipping to the UK be (I'm guessing quite a bit) and what's the sizing on that?

I would more then likely do UPS for shipping and just a guess may be $60-80 just for shipping and it will fit average person my buddy in that is about 5'11 and 170lbs

this guy needs to lay off the adderall if hes cranking them out that fast... it does appear that my neighbors chainmail is a tighter smaller diameter linkage, so maybe thats why it takes him so long.   he also made a glove with his clan emblem made out of red loops on the top, not really my thing but pretty fuckin cool.

I have another buddy who helps me and we kind of do half in half then piece it together thats why it is done so quickly, but yeah these do take alot of time depending on size gauge, etc etc. I'm only making these to try and add to my bitcoin miners sadly no ones interested in buying . Sad and even at $125 . . oh btw its not adderall thats my drug its bitcoin. Cheesy

Now here's an interesting question:

If you really crank these out so fast, could you do one for me in time for halloween?  Cheesy

Yeah PM me what you want and a rough price I'll have it shipped to you befor halloween if you get to me asap, I still have this vest just sitting here by the way this one was made out of aluminum rings so its quite lite.

i dont think anyone wearing chainmail needs a chastity belt.....i dont think dressing up and playing swords attracts many ladies.

Riveted mail:

Butted mail:

And even if it's riveted please do not expect it to make you invincible.

This said, real riveted mail armor with real padding worked very well at stopping things. Tests show that penetrating it with arrows or swords it's almost impossible.

Oh and yes the padding is important

1)Galvanized steel or stainless steel

2)Only if it's a RIVETED mail made with rings of the right size and diameter and only if used with a proper padding. Otherwise, NO! Mail used today is almost always butted mail, wich mean that rings are closed by just putting the extremeties together. It's much much quicker and cheaper than riveting it and is perfectly fine for normal needs/reenactment/almost whatelse. But if you want protection you need a proper mail with riveted rings AND you must also wear proper padding.

3)Since it's butted mail, no, it's not made for protection

5)5-6kg

I'm sorry for my ignorance about chainmail, but what kind of metal is used in the rings? Are they strong enough to stop any sort of arrows or knives? Have you tested it for durability/survivability? How much does the vest weigh?

Thanks!

Pictures please?

Also, are they metal?

Or metal looking plastic like for prop use in Lord of the Rings?

My rings looks similar to the one of the pics, and it still takes me 1-2 months to complete a vest.

my neighbor makes chain mail and goes to penfest....i think thats what its called and i know hes been working on his chainmail garb for years...cant believe it only takes you a week.
+1

I completed my chainmail vest and i know there is no way i can't make it in a week. One or two months. But well, mine is bigger than this one, it's a bit longer and it's much more covered on the chest and on the back. But still, i too can't believe it takes a week
