I have came across this post on several occasions and I have been used it to make reference in post. Actually I think the guy was drunk when made that statement and now it has became popular. I often use that word "HODL" than hold because it look more cryptolike and more fun when using it than the normal hold. I don't even check the date but you guys are smart to be remembring this dates. Although this thread was supposedly to be attended on the 18th of December but it's coming late from me but any way chears!! And "Happy Bitcoin HodL Day"
I enjoy and use the hodling term more often than I use holding but I didn't actually know where the phrase originated from until today. It's good to learn about moments in the past like this one that helped shape bitcoin to what it is today. This term is still use often today for the same reason why we celebrate the "Bitcoin pizza day" as a prominent and pivotal time for Bitcoin.
It's special because it was originally a typing error from the beginning and he just left it that way after realizing.
It's funny how a Bitcoiners typo error has turned into a slogan, i never knew about this until now and it sounds interesting, well i prefer to say hodl than holding cause it sounds cool. He made a statement that he knows the spelling is wrong but still decided to use it anyways by repeating the word in the title to show that it's not typed by mistake; even the whisky was voluntarily spelt wrongly. It was a fun post that turned to one of the most used words by bitcoiners.
Yeah, it was intentional spelt wrong and I believe he himself never mean for the word to stick this hard in the entire cryptosphere because the word itself have become one of the most used and written word used by both the Bitcoin and altcoins holders. For me the first time I found out how the word came about I was really amuse as how something so jokingly used turned out to be an important mark word.

it maybe that most of them did know bitcointalk.org but they know about forum, so I believe that people develop the heart of knowing bitcoin through passion they have on bitcoin, but no be say developers of wallets doesn't know bitcoin, they know bitcoin already but what I believe that some persons knows bitcoin through the first time bitcoin was established, i don't know this forum and bitcoin the one that was first created, but from suggestions I think that this forum was the second thing satoshi created to help escalation of bitcoin after bitcoin was created, so some other person's has already acquired the knowledge and began to be creative to what will make them to be relevant on bitcoin. Holding na the zero-loss advance in bitcoin accumulation wey many people dey overlook. Although I know about buying in the bear market and selling in the bull market and blah blah blah, but TBH it is not advisable to sell all your coins in the bull run. I would sell only a considerable percentage and hold the rest. Reason I'm selling is to increase my buying power during the dip since I'm always saving for the dip even from the bull run, so I can take from the percentage I sold during the bull run, add it to my earlier savings and purchase a bigger stash during the dip. I do not like selling everything because the temptation that comes with holding a very liquid coin is much, when my funds are in USDT, it is easy for me to cash it in even on irrelevancies especially when I see the dollar appreciate against naira, but when it is in BTC, I have disciplined myself not to ever liquidity my holdings except for extreme cases which I never pray for.

I agree with you that it wasn't just about the invoke of the term Hodl made by that user that brought about that surge of bitcoin increase per saying rather it created encouragements to investors who bargains on sudden sells of their bitcoin to hold longer after much he has proved it Worth that holding is specification to grow riches while invested on bitcoin.

I have learn something new today from this trend, so GameKyuubi was d one that introduced this word to Bitcointalk forum hodl, with d knowledge he have to bring out something like this to d forum, show that he have made a lot of money from BTC hodling when he was active user in this forum. With this history of GameKyuubi u have displayed show that I will have story to tell my unborn children when dey join this forum because dey will surely have idea of BTC, which dey will like to ask how did this word hodl come into Bitcointalk forum, and d answer have be displayed and many hodlers are very bold to use this word to communicate to other hodlers in d industry.

Me sef been dey use d word but I no even know d history behind am, normally before now if you ask me I go just refer to am as a normal Bitcoin terminology but na now I come understand d story behind am, e good make we dey sher all dis kain story dem of we get access to am, e go help even newbies get better insight into some historical Bitcoin events even some pipo wey don tae for d Bitcoin mata dit no know some of these things untill dem come across am like dis, na one day person dey use know something.
