I was super active back in the day but then my account got hijacked by a scammy person.  I also lost most of what I held because I kept it on an exchange like an idiot (btc-e).
Hey mate I don't actually believe on this story you are giving here because you know valuable account is currently for you to have lose your account without raising any alarm or talks of restoring back your real account and you went forth to make another account.
Where does this happened or do you think the forum is the way you left it till date? If you must know there are changes now and that implies many restrictions.

It would be interesting to see your hacked account. Can you provide a link to your hacked account?

Your points make sense. I am not aware of such cases. Could you please forward me to the case to read more about it?

These stories are in Meta. There were several cases with fairly well-known profiles. And at least, people who suddenly realized that their account was hacked, upon learning this, reported that their account was blocked. So that you have time to check his post history. And although, in my opinion, the hacking of accounts was due to the fault of the owners themselves, due to their carelessness, their accounts were restored.
But the OP has a different story. In addition, there is a case of plagiarism, and here it simply does not make sense to prove that you are not you. "Strike while the iron is hot"

I was unaware that the account had been linked to any others.  Honestly this wasn't a post to try and get my old account back...I'm fine with rebuilding my reputation on this one  Grin

Then it was a mistake to mention it at all.

Of course, this is assuming you are telling the truth and that you have lost access to your account because of hack. Not that Im advocating ban evasion.

That is the part we have to come to a decision about. Either we believe your story about the account getting hacked and at the same time all the subsequent things that happened (such as alt-accounts) were not your fault or we believe that everything you have stated is a fabrication.

To be clear, the best thing you could do is disassociate yourself from the previous accounts and that includes the current one you used to create this thread. After you create a new account, do not mention to anybody about the connection to the other accounts otherwise you could end up with tags.

You will not be able to build (or rebuild) any reputation with the current account because you have already linked it to an account with a dubious history including banned and alt-accounts.

Why would someone having a good business and built up positive trust in the forum all of a sudden start posting malware links if not his account getting hijacked? The mods never listened and to this date, it beat my understanding.

If it is obvious that the account was hacked, the mod should give him a 2nd chance. Anyway, as far as we know, Cyrus wanted to give 2nd chance to the banned users, did that user apply to unban his account?

On the one hand it seems harsh, but on the other hand it took OP years to claim back his account. I have accounts on many forums that I created years ago and haven't used since, but if I can't access them anymore, I wouldn't expect a special recovery. It's the risk of abandoning an account for that long.
As you can see already, OP said he is not here to get his old account. So it's understandable that he did not care about his old account even when it was hacked. He still does not care about it.

Considering the number of alt-accounts associated with the banned account, it raises a question about why the OP would even want to link his new account with the previous ones. Even if the OP managed to get the original account unbanned, it already had received negative tags therefore what would it achieve?

Whether the original account is unbanned or not, why did the OP link the current account to the previous ones when citing it was hacked would probably not be believed.

What if OP is just an innocent victim of scammers and hackers? Wouldn't punishing someone when they did not do the offence be too harsh?

When will the admin/mods say enough is enough and say "banned means banned!"
What if OP is just an innocent victim of scammers and hackers? Wouldn't punishing someone when they did not do the offence be too harsh?
This forum can be so harsh sometime. I think I have come across a member who was somehow trusted for his business in this forum, as he has built it for a while. His account was hacked and used to post malware links. It was later banned. When the real owner turned up appealing for the ban. Nothing was done.

Why would someone having a good business and built up positive trust in the forum all of a sudden start posting malware links if not his account getting hijacked? The mods never listened and to this date, it beat my understanding.

You got a good point there. I also want to believe that OP is the real owner of that banned account. Why would someone use a similar username and link their account if they know that this account will get banned as well if people find him? Moreover, the account has some negative feedback as well. I feel like this is the real owner and he wants his account back. Now, let's see if OP can come up with a signed message from any of his old addresses that he may post in the forum. Otherwise, sorry for his loss.

Anybody care to prove me wrong?   Tongue

The next post is from July 2017 and is locked so I can't quote it, but the next post is also from the same day:

I am at PC all the time..
Doing Crypto trading, watching TV series.

If get sometime, play games on Steam, GTA5

So my account was lost in 2015 and was taken over in 2017 I guess

No matter how you answer, there's no way anyone will believe it's your account. There are some rules and regulations of the forum to prove it.

Follow this format recover your hacked account.

Find an old address you posted, sign a message proving you still own it, and see if you can convince account recovery team that you weren't the person who got the account banned.

My gut feeling tells me you're the real owner, but my gut feeling isn't enough to get you unbanned.

So my account was lost in 2015 and was taken over in 2017 I guess

Actually base on https://bpip.org/Profile?id=97501, there wasn't a time when this account was inactive before it got banned, I guessed this your time frame might be wrong.

@Xal0lex, this user might be telling the truth, I was able to get info on all the addresses this user old account used earlier before his claim hack 2015 from https://ninjastic.space/addresses?author=Scooby903 and none of the older address before 2015 were among the addresses used for the bounty cheating  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.37872632, but this may not hold solid ground because all except one of the older address before the claim hack was all bitcoin address. While when I try tracing through bitcoin Explorer I still couldn't get a connection between these accounts though more professionals to blockchain explorer may try to verify also.

-Snip-
But the problem is he never reported about the account hack as soon as possible, and then probably the person who was in control of the account afterward stalked an address in 2017.

There are also some bitcoin address he used earlier around 2013 and he could use this address 13R87ropkDKzDEuVeQoX64kkcLvPWVdTKH, which is among one of them, though this user not reporting this account earlier somehow makes this suspicious especially from the fact that he possibly have an alt and I will Like Op to explain the reason for this

You sold your account or used alts, it's either of the two. Choice is yours.  Smiley
I would give OP a benefit of doubt because I was also a victim of these account thefts and hacks. The person who probably hacked the accounts could have used it with other stolen or bought accounts to cheat bounties and so on.

First of all, welcome back! I'm wondering how do you decided to comeback here after so many years?
Probably you would like to get back your old account, but I think it's too complicated or even impossible. First of all, if back then you were keeping most of coins on BTC-E exchange, so, I doubt that you have staked BTC address somewhere, asociated with Bitcointalk account.
And even if we ignore fact that this account was banned for plagiarism, I think it's kinda ruined already by someone who used it after you.
And I'm not sure how rules can be interpretated in your case, but it's possible that ban evasion can be applied for you.

I found the reason this account was banned. It was banned for plagiarism on December 29, 2018. The account owner copied this post from another user.

We don't make a profit, that's okay, sonm has an aim to make money, profit, right? What can you say about Sonm's financial statements to investors?

The plagiarized post has been deleted, but the quote in this post remains.

If you have access to the original email address used to create the account plus a signed message from a bitcoin address you posted in the forum before the hack, you might have a chance of recovering your account.

I'm referencing the BTCT password hack back in 2014? maybe

The account I had was accessed by someone other than me from that point.  The last thing I was involved in was the SciFi coin promotion.  I've never used alts and never been banned, this is the first time I've been on the forum in 10ish years

When was the last time you wrote a forum post from this account?
