Would it be feasible to make a coin that mines using your hard drive and if so, what would go into making one. Not the actual code but for example how would it mine using your hard drive?
Your HDD doesn't do processing, it's just storage. I thought you GLD guys were supposed to be smart?

+1 to you sir

Make a coin that pays active nodes for uploading the blockchain for said coin to other nodes and there you have some primative "hard drive mineing" I think a test of dropping a percent of coin to fulltime nodes is something that really needs to be looked into.  The list of trusted nodes os based on founding members and die hard supporters.  But they won't be around forever.

An incentive to leave your node up would add strength to a network.

Ok... New Idea: What if you were paid a certain amount of coins per unit of information that you store on your harddrive. This information could be used sort of like a cloud server where the company doesn't buy hard-drives, your the hard-drive, and you get paid for being the hard-drive.
