Hi,
I recently read this article on Bitcoinist: http://bitcoinist.com/julian-assange-blockchain-alive/ . The article says that according to Peter Todd, they have met in past. Is this statement true?
Maybe Assange just took an interview from Nakamoto about bitcoin and Blockchain system to open peoples' eyes on bitcoin and great way to make money skipping the system.

For the record, I said that *I* met Assange, not Satoshi.

And there's nothing terribly interesting about that: he wanted to know more about Bitcoin, and someone who's a friend of a friend suggested we chat next time I was in London; I'm always happy to talk about Bitcoin to people.

I'm slightly amazed that everyone in the thread (apparently) still believes the back-stories to people like Assange and Snowden, there are alot of good questions without answers about their respective histories. More than anything else, Assange and Snowden fit perfectly with a "drip-feed" model of upsetting the perceptions of the regular population by gradually revealing what living in the 21st Century means.

If any big political player didn't like what Assange or Snowden are doing, they could (and would) be stopped. It's really that simple. I mean, these deep-state characters shot the US president in the head, in a massive public appearance, and that's how few fucks they gave 50 years ago. I think they could handle a couple of limp-wristed computer hackers, don't you?

I knew Julian Assange was pretty smart, but I did not know that he dabbled in Bitcoin, until I saw him using the Blockchain for proof-of-life. I

think Satoshi would fit in nicely with people like Assange and Snowden. They must have had contact before, without even knowing it. { On

the old forums, under anonymous profiles. } Their goals are nearly the same. {Taking down Big brother's power over money & information}

First we look at the time  when the post was made was it before 2009 if it is done on that year then possibly they met. But looking at the article it
was possibly done just recently and so its hard to determine if that article is true or not. If he really met satoshi nakamoto then there mustbe something from him that can help bitcoin issues today. If he did not met satoshi then he probably just made up those things to get popularity.

There does not appear to be any evidence.
For all we know, Julian Assange might be Satoshi Nakamoto.
We have seen many others and many have speculated all of them as satoshi nakamoto without evidence.

Julian assange might have been in contact with satoshi nakamoto but i don't think they have met face to face, even if he have met him personally i don't think he gonna expose any details of satoshi including is satoshi dead or alive.

May be one day if satoshi is still alive, he may also use bitcoin trasactions like julian have used before to prove his well being. But most of us don't want satoshi to do that... Wink

I'm sure there are people that know who the real Satoshi is whether Julian Assange, Hal Finney or someone else.

And if they haven't met Satoshi personally, there's probably at least a few in close circles with Satoshi that might have an idea.

Sure someone could have met Satoshi, possibly Julian Assnge should have made a good conversation with him regarding bitcoin. Recently Assange too made statements supporting bitcoin and digital currencies to be the money of future.

Not at all true. You should have used Lil common sense if he had net Mr. Satoshi wouldn't his identity been revealed to all. The founder the person for all we can credit our success who wouldn't like to meet him. So no one will believe that any one has met Mr. Satoshi, even Google would have told you it's not true. Wonder if we will. Ever see the face of our creator.

He wouldn't be that stupid to reveal that Satoshi Nakamoto is his friend or something. If he spoke to Satoshi, the only way I can think about is through some encrypted chat where his identity would be 10000% anonymous. And Assange wouldn't even know if he is the real one .. no matter how important you are as a person, you cannot reveal yourself even if it's a hacker like Assange.

" Julian
Assange has made history as the first
public figure to use the Bitcoin blockchain as a proof-of-life.Although he did make a small mistake when reading out the
block hash....,
"
I wouldn't say so after reading this Smiley

I think they (Assange & Satoshi) may have emailed one another once. Not sure how that turned into Peter Todd saying they met, I doubt Peter Todd said that.

So, is Bitcoinist a trusted source or not? And I'm not talking only about this particular case, but also about other articles from them in general.

Apparently not, I find it very difficult to believe that Todd is not being misquoted in this instance. As to their veracity otherwise; they've never stood out as being terrible, but they don't stand out for good reasons either (often the case with crypto/Bitcoin news sources these days)

That is pure speculation. He is from computer science world, Julians know current technologies very well because he MUST. How to encrypt data, communication he know everything in tech world, so he knows bitcoin too. He understand how blocks are calculated and that reciting new block hash is better than reading current newspaper Smiley

Julian Assange runs the only truly objective media company in the world. It would be only smart for Satoshi to have a connection to Julian - to get an honest word out about bitcoin, the project, and to help defend against detractors...especially those from the Government, banks, and major corporations.

That said - spoke to and met are two different things. It seems like Nakamoto is a very reclusive "guy". Has there been any further confirmation of his/her real identity?

Well, that's some serious conspiracy there... But aside from the fact that it is very improbable, is there any analysis? Like if a style of writing is somewhat similar to Satoshi's one.
