My portfolio right now is not so much, but it did gain some compared to last year which is super disastrous. I had invested my time since the start of this year where Bitcoin is still at $3,500, since then I've gain some profit by buying and snowballing over the time. Good thing Bitcoin pump $7,500 the other day this month.

I couldn't hold it back any longer; as I have sold off my major portfolio because of Christmas celebration. This hold started from last year July, 2018 and now, couldn't hold them again as I have sell off my assets because of the pressure from the family members. After the sale of this asset this evening, I was perplexed as how much I just dumped, all in the name of Christmas.

This year is a difficult year for many cryptocurrency investors, especially Hodlers. With a drastic reduction in prices, psychological influence on investors, who initially believed that crypto would be an alternative investment turned out to decrease the portfolio value.

Back in the spring of 2018 when altcoins became much cheaper, I sold most of them because many projects seemed useless but I still made good money. I left a lot of altcoins in my portfolio but many of them currently cost almost nothing and some projects simply stopped working.

There is a common notion in the crypto space, that the most common thing is the cash out phenomenon. Where so many people try to sell all that they have, in order to have the money they can spend for the Yuletide season, but that is not the case with everyone or every project, because some might be waiting for a big or bigger event early next year.

I’m still with my cryptocurrency since I do have other source of money where I could use to celebrate on this holidays. Don’t spend too much on impressing others, you don’t have to be extravagant on your gifts make it simple and affordable. There is so much lesson for this year, and we have to be more patient and don’t let yourself to lose everything.

we all know that this year is bear, I think most people here also lost their money in this time
I also lost, that's why I hold most of my money just into Bitcoin
In Bitcoin, I hold it for long term bcz I believe in the future it would be comeback
no matter the bad market it is, Bitcoin is still the best one

It doesn't make sense to distribute the portfolio for Christmas celebrations. Because I can't lose everything for some crazy fun. If you have to withdraw money from the portfolio, you should do so at the right time.

This holiday season isn't the season for most of the cryptos I have. So, I decided to hold them for the time being. I anticipate and expect more to what will happen in 2020. Any extra money I can have right now is mostly have been used to buy more crypto especially bitcoin because the prices are relatively low. Hopefully, this strategy will work well for me.

In 2013 and 2017, the ATH was reached in mid-December and the dumping started by the third week. By the time of X'mas, the exchange rates were down at least 20-30% from the ATH levels. Now I am not sure whether this pattern will repeat this time or not, but there is a strong chance as a lot of the users will be selling their coins to fund their year-end vacations.

if the necessity of life is urgent we cannot hold a coin we must sell it to be able to make ends meet. the important thing is you already get a profit when you decide to sell. if you sell but don't make a profit then in my opinion it is the wrong decision. You should look for valuable items that you can sell to celebrate Christmas. Don't sell crypto when you don't make a profit. therefore I always suggest having a real job besides crypto whose salary we can use to make ends meet.
when talking about needs it will be difficult, especially if the income is only from investment in crypto. maybe this was his sacrifice, which must have been thought of over and over again. Even more important is his interest, hopefully asking to keep investing even though there is a possibility he lost but I hope he continues to run in crypto and I hope he can do better than now

Oh, you already sold your cryptos, too bad that the market is starts to increasing now. It's ok the important is that you have money for Christmas. I still hold my cryptos for now, I have extra money here for Christmas.

Although he never told us he sold all his or her cryptocurrency portfolio's. So, hope he holds for the future as there will be a boom after 2019. Its pains to hold cryptocurrency but sometimes circumstances made a man to give into frustration which to me seem exactly what might have been the case case of OP.

This year Christmas hasn't been a good one for most projects as the value of several altcoin and Bitcoin is on the downward slide. I am still in anticipation of a turn around in the value of cryptocurrencies. My portfolio hasn't experienced any increase, rather it's been reducing. I've personally decided to stop looking, so I can have a joyful Christmas celebration.

I also sold some of my assets, but I was lucky, I did not stay in the red. Last year I bought bitcoin, investing a decent amount in it and this year my savings have grown. Therefore, my experience in investing is quite positive.

That is great, and I hope you can wait for a while until the bitcoin price can increase so you can make a big profit from bitcoin. When you can see the bitcoin price increase like today, you can sell some amount, but you can also hold it for more because, in the next year, we will see a halving time for bitcoin. Many people are predicting that in the next year, bitcoin prices will increase so high, and if it's not happening after the bitcoin halving, the price will start to grow in the middle of the next year.

All of us here has a similar experience, although I have money to spare for this holiday, still the expenses are big that there are unexpected expenses that you cannot keep up, so yu have no choice but sold some of your coins even at a much lower price.

And it is quite really hard for some cases that people would come into your house in Christmas and you have nothing to offer them so you are urged to use and convert your cryptocurrencies to gifts and foods. Though, the main advantage of this is that, in this kind of season, the price of cryptocurrency often increases so you can convert the profits you have and still hodl your cryptocurrencies in your own wallet. But make sure you've still have enough because over spending your cryptocurrency is hard especially if you are a trader and wants to regain your profits.

Before Christmas or the end of the year should you throw the coin that you hold because most will crash because many holders and investors sell it at Christmas because of the need and it has become a habit of the previous years. So I was not confused if the pair that I sold yesterday was quite high than when Christmas arrived or the new year.

This really impacts allot of us, from giving gifts, receiving gifts as well, christmas bonuses, christmas sales and more other aspect of finance that could change the way how we spend our money in a short time yearly season. But when it comes to cryptocurrency, I don't think we should consider selling our hodlings just for the sake of giving gifts and pressure. We should have extra money (fiats to consider) for us to have something to give to others. But when we don't have, we don't need to urge and sacrifice funds that are alloted for our needs.

I don't think you need to regret it op because it happened. and I think not only you who sell bitcoin to celebrate Christmas and the new year. some bitcoin holders do the same thing. actually selling bitcoin today is a wrong decision because the price of bitcoin always decreases at the end of the year. but because of the urgency of our needs we have to sell it.
then so that this does not happen again next year you should set aside some money every month for funds to celebrate Christmas. so you don't need to sell bitcoin to celebrate Christmas.

@barabarian1 I hope you sold your coins because you were getting profits too, but if you sold them at a loss then it’s a bad decision. In my case I’m holding lots of money in bitcoins and I did sell a small amount because I wanted to gift someone a Christmas gift, but overall I didn’t completely liquidate my portfolio like you did. Hence my overall experience was positive because I was able to make someone happy, and the fact that I didn’t sell my coins at a loss was a bonus for me.
